Blend for Visual Studio 2013 - Unable to add event handler - visual-studio-2013

I'm using Visual Studio 2013, with Blend, to play around with creating Windows 8 apps. I used Blend to add a button, but when I went to add the name of an event handler method to the button in Blend, all the textboxes pertaining to the different events were disabled.
Screenshot as follows:
Contrast between the active textbox "Name" near the top, and the disabled textboxes that pertain to the event handler methods. The latter cannot be interacted with.
I am aware that I can add events in Visual Studio, but I was wondering if there is any reason why I can't do it in Blend.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update: It looks like the issue is fixed in Blend for Visual Studio 2015.

How to generate automatically click events in VS 2012 in web project?

I was looking for so long how to generate automatically event handlers for example for a button in a WEB PROJECT. In properties window there is no icon for adding event handlers. If somebody knows how to add it to one of the navigation windows I will be glad to see the answer.

Visual Studio 2010 events button has disappeared

Hi I have been working with visual studio 2010 ultimate all day developing an asp.net webforms application.
I just realized that on the properties for controls window the button for events is missing , the one that looks like a thunderbolt.
An hour ago that button was there and now somehow it has disapeared and I can't figure out how to make it visible again.
I have tryed reseting the visual studio settings and reseting the computer but nothing worked
How can I get the button back?
I had the same problem. This helped me.
1.Restart visual studio 2010.
2.Click and select a control in markup page(.aspx)(like
3.After selecting , Click "View" in menu and select "Property window".
Check the property box, Thunderbolt ll be available. It just happened for me!
If the above solution not working go on with this!
1.Select design view in markup(.aspx)
2.Select any individual control like a button or label..
3.Now, you will be able to see a ">" button on the right side? Click it.
4.Remember to select only one control./.now check your property window! Whoohoo..
Actually while the solution above works, it puts you through more steps than you need. You can resolve this famous disappearing thunderbolt by simply clicking on Design view, and then clicking back on Source view, then clicking again to select the control in source view.
The Thunderbolt icon and events for the control will magically reappear.
You do not need to restart Visual Studio, and you do not need to select anything while in Design view.
And now, for my RANT about this annoying bug:
Even though this is easy to resolve, it is a MAJOR inconvenience to developers in my opinion, because we have to do this silly workaround all the freaking time.
This is in fact a BUG in Visual Studio. It has existed since at least Visual Studio 2010 (many users have reported it here and in MS forums across this and all later versions of VS). I have confirmed that this bug still exists in the latest build of Visual Studio 2022. So clearly MS has no plans to fix it.

Extension toolbar position not saved in Visual Studio 2010

I am using db4o in Visual Studio 2010 but the Object Manager Enterprise toolbar will not saved its position when I restart the IDE. It comes back each time below the standard toolbar while I would like both toolbars to be on the same row to not use vertical space.
Do you have the same issue with this extension or another extension? How can we force a toolbar to remain at the same position accross sessions?
As an alternative, I wanted to create my own toolbar with the same buttons (as a toolbar I create would not be affected by the issue), but I cannot find the buttons related to the extension in the long list of available commands.
Thanks!

Possible to resize activity blocks in Visual Studio 2010 Workflow designer?

I'm trying to edit my TFS 2010 build templates using the Visual Studio 2010 Workflow designer. I have this nice widescreen display, and the designer insists on displaying the activity blocks in itty bitty areas. How can I resize them so I can at least read the entire display descriptions?
EDIT: If this annoys you too, vote for this suggestion
The designer doesn't support resizing activities. You can collapse/expand them or zoom into the entire workflow but that is it.
Would be a nice future feature so I suggest adding it to connect as a feature request and if you post the link I will vote for it.

WPF Applications: Visual Studio vs. Expression Blend

I am a bit confused on how Visual Studio 2010 and Expression Blend 4 operate together. If I want to create a WPF application, should I start it in Expression Blend 4? If so, then how does Visual Studio 2010 natively open Expression Blend projects, or does it?
Or should I start my application in Visual Studio 2010? If so, how do I open my solution in Expression Blend.
Also, how do I modify an existing WPF form, if I need changes. If I already have events handled and code behind, how do I bring it over to expression blend, make my changes, then bring it back to visual studio without disrupting the events and code that I have created in Visual Studio 2010?
Also can someone recommend a good book that covers how to create WPF and/or Silverlight applications using Expression blend 4 and Visual Studio 2010 together.
Solutions are the same for Visual Studio and Expression Blend. You can open your solution through the file menu in expression blend, or by right clicking on a xaml file in Visual Studio and select "Open In Expression Blend".
Personally, when I need to make only a small change, like changing the text on a button, I don't go into Blend. But when I want to see what's going on, with margins and layout and stuff I always use Blend. Most often I have Visual Studio and Blend open side by side and I keep switching back and forth.
Because Expression Blend uses the same solution you don't have to worry about event handlers and such. When they are in place, they stay in place. Unless you delete the control the event is attached to of course.
Creating a solution can be done in both tools, but I start most projects in Visual Studio. There are however a few Project templates that can't be found in visual studio. For example the Databound Application project type. This will give you a start on an MVVM project, with folders in place for the Model, View and ViewModel.
You can have it open in both Visual Studio and Blend at the same time. You're prompted in Visual Studio if you make a change in Blend and vice versa.
Personally I create the new application in Visual Studio first then open it in Blend.
I usualy start my project in Blend.
Remember Blend is specially designed to make great UI, easy databindig, make easy templates and custom controls.
You can edit the code behind of your app directly in Blend but sometimes it doesn't show the intellisense; thats when you need open VS, to do that right click on your project inside blend and click on edit with Visual Studio. It'll launch VS and you can start coding.
You dont need to close VS or Blend, they booth can be open, if you make some change in VS it will notify Blend, will appear a dialogbox telling you: reload the app, click Yes the changes will be sincronized in Blend and VS, the same happens when you make changes in Blend and go to an already open instance of VS.
Too remember to install de VS tools, it will allow you to open Silverlight projects inside VS, if they arent already installed an error message will appear.
Hope my answer help you
