When I open any C# Win-Forms or WPF project in Visual Studio 2013, the "Build" tab doesn't show up. It is visible if I open the project in VS2010. I haven't been able to find any information about this specific tab disappearing.
I've have tried resetting the user settings in vs2013, running the setup repair, and even completely uninstalling and reinstalling vs2013.
Any ideas on how to get it back?
The issue is now fixed with the Version 4.1.15, which you can download here.
Changes in the 4.1 branch
4.1.15 2015-06-09 Bug 11560 VSiX: missing Build and Debug pages
in project properties.
I have the same issue in Visual Studio 2012 and I can confirm, that this issue is based on Post Sharp.
After updating PostSharp to Version 4.1.14 the "Build" and the "Postsharp" Tab disapears.
Uninstalling PostSharp fixed this issue. The "Build" Tab is back again.

I have a Blazor Server project created with Microsoft Visual Studio IDE Version 17.2.0 Preview 1 and it was debugging and starting without any problems.
When I upgraded to Version 17.2.0 Preview 5.0, I am unable to build the project, run the project or even close the IDE. Popup UIs are showing up each time I try to do any of these actions.
I am now closing the IDE using the Task Manager. I have attached screenshots with descriptions and if anyone has ever solved this please assist me to get over this.
I have tried the following:
Created a new project but the problem remains.
Repaired Visual Studio IDE but the problem remains.
I am using:
Blazor Server and .NET 6.
The IDE is Microsoft Visual Studio IDE Community Edition Version 17.2.0 Preview 5.0
I will appreciate any help I can get.
The above error shows up when I try to debug the project:
The above error shows up when I try to close the IDE:
I created a Blazor project in Visual Studio 2022 17.2.0 Preview 5.0, built the project and ran without encountering this issue.
Please try closing Visual Studio, deleting the project's .vs and bin/obj folders, and reloading the project.
If the issue still exists, please run /safemode at the development command prompt, it will check if third-party packages and extensions are causing the issue.
I think I was using visual studio 2017 and wrote a SSIS package. Now I installed visual studio 2019 and can't open the solution file. Error:
Unsupported This version of Visual Studio is unable to open the
following projects. The project types may not be installed or this
version of Visual Studio may not support them. For more information
on enabling these project types or otherwise migrating your assets,
please see the details in the "Migration Report" displayed after
clicking OK.

Non-functional changes required Visual Studio will automatically make
non-functional changes to the following projects in order to enable
them to open in Visual Studio 2015, Visual Studio 2013, Visual Studio
2012, and Visual Studio 2010 SP1. Project behavior will not be
impacted.
- ABC_SSIS, "C:\Users\XYZ\ABC_SSIS.sln"
I tried "Right-click on the project and reload" - didn't work.
I tried to confirm SSDT is installed:
it is installed at the installation interface, but doesn't exist in extension manager:
SSIS is a seperate extension now in Visual Studio 2019. You can install that extension in Visual Studio market place. Choose Online tab and search for "SQL Server Integration Services Projects".Hope it can help your problem
1.Extensions -> Microsoft Reporting Service Project
2.and then close visual studio
3.VSIX installer will complete automatically
4.If your project unloaded, right click on project and reload
Today I faced this issue,
Cause
The reason for issue is,
I saw a yellow bg notification at the top of IDE showing performance issue , with option to "disable this" to improve the performance.
I chose disable, later next day when I opened the project, It showed the project is not compatible.
I did Repair SSIS, Uninstall and Reinstall SSIS, and also updated the SSIS to latest version. None of these 3 ways resolved the issue.
Solution
But, I found Manage Extension submenu item under Extension menu, Under installed tab, SSIS extension was in disabled status. I reverted to Enabled status. Sample screenshot of the same for reference is here. If it disabled, simply enable it. Then restart VS with SSIS project.
Enabling the SSIS in manage extensions solved this for me.
Extensions ... Manage Extensions
Online ... Visual Studio Marketplace
SQL Server Integration Services Projects
Download
Close Visual Studio and then run the download
When finished, open your existing SSIS project and right-click the project and select "Reload" or "Reload with dependancies"
You can also now start a new Integration Services project.
I opened a Visual Studio 2013 solution in VS2017. I was prompted to convert my solution and projects, which I did. If I right-click on a project and select Retarget, I can choose to use Windows SDK 10.0.17134.0 and Platform Toolset v141, I've done this manually as well. I can build my projects and run them (this is a makefile-based project by the way). Yet Visual Studio still shows "(Visual Studio 2013)" next to the projects' names. Why and how do I get it to go away?
I had the same problem. You can force the upgrade by right clicking on the project in the Solution Explorer and selecting "Upgrade VC++ Compiler and Libraries". It will then pop up the normal Project Upgrade dialog. Click OK to upgrade the project.
While attempting to build or open a project in Visual Studio 2015 14.0.25431.01 Update 3 which I recently updated, I keep getting errors around nuget package management. Whenever I build the project the first time after opening VS, I get the error message below. I also get it when I try to open the nuget package manager dialog. Anyone else experience this?
An exception was thrown while initializing part
"Nuget.PackageManagement.VisualStudio.VSolutionManager".
GetFullVsVersionString must be called on the UI thread.
I had the exact same issue as you and I was able to get NuGet to work again for me by doing the following simple steps.
Completely close all versions and windows of Visual Studio
Reopen a blank Visual Studio window
Navigate to Tools -> NuGet Package Manager -> Package Manager Settings
Press "OK"
Open the project you were having issues with
Try opening "Manage NuGet Packages..." or running your project
Your issue should now be fixed!
I had originally tried uninstalling NuGet and reinstalling it through the "Extensions and Updates" under "Tools" to no avail. The solution I listed above fixed it instantly.
It appears reinstalling Nuget Package Manager for Visual Studio in the Extensions & Tools dialog may have fixed it.
-First
Delete all cache on C:\Users\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0\ComponentModelCache
-Second
Reinstall Nuget package manager by Tools->Extensions and Updates. After that restart your visual studio
-Third
Go to Tools->Nuget Package Manager->Package Manager Settings of blank project (for create new cache), and after that, try on your project
I was getting this with a Visual Studio Extension from Telerik. Once I uninstalled it went away.
In VisualStudio 2015 -> Tools -> Extensions and updates -> Online: Search for the string: "Fix NuGet GetFullVsVersionString must be called on the UI thread"
and install the given fix.
Alternatively you can download the fix at :
GetFullVsVersionString fix
Now in February 2018, the latest NuGet Package Manager version 3.4.4.1321 does not have the fix included, so the patch must be applied.
As Steve Greene's answer describes, I also had the Telerik extension installed, so that might have caused the problem.
This problem can happen if you have Xamarin for Visual Studio installed. There is a NuGet bug reported about this.
If you have Xamarin component in one of your projects and then try to use NuGet then NuGet can be called on the wrong thread.
There is a separate Xamarin extension that can be installed to fix this problem with Xamarin for Visual Studio.
Run the Visual Studio as 'Run as administrator' mode.
If it does not work then, if you have other version of Visual Studio like 2013
then uninstall all and install again.
This is what worked for me (VisualStudio 2015):
Uninstalling NuGetPackageManager in Tools->Extensions and Updates.
Closing all open VisualStudio.
Deleting the cache on C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0\ComponentModelCache
Restart PC
Install NuGetPackageManager in Tools->Extensions and Updates in a blank application or on the startup VisualStudio screen.
Close every VisualStudio again.
Finally it should work.
I had to follow this process or it did not work.
I am facing this issue with Visual Studio 2013. I got a Visual Studio solution from my colleague. When I open the solution, projects are not loading. When I tried to reload the project by selecting project. I got a below attached
window prompt alert.
-When I am selecting first radio button then project is loading. But If again I am re-opening the solution then I am getting the some problem.
I followed below steps to solve the problem
Selected second radio button (Download the targeting pack for ".NetFramework, Version=v4.5". The project will not change. After clicking the OK button got
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?prd=12485&pver=12&sbp=TargetPackMissing&plcid=0x409&o1=.NETFramework,Version=v4.5 page.
Selected Visaul Studio 2013 but there .NET Framework 4.5 is not supporting Visual Studio 2013. So I downloaded .NET Framework 4.5.2 and installed. But problem didn't get solve.
I repaired the Visual Studio 2013. But Still same problem.
Can you please suggest me how I can fix this issue?
Thank you
