Debugging information for regsvr32.exe not found? - visual-studio-2013

So, I've got a Visual Studio 2013 solution with two Visual C++ projects - one of them is a ComServer, which generates a .dll file, and the other is the ComClient, which relies on the ComServer.dll.
Now, when I try to register the ComServer.dll file by invoking regsvr32.exe (both from c:\Windows\System32 and c:\Windows\SysWOW64), a dialog box pops up with the following error:
"Debugging information for regsvr32.exe not found. Cannot find or open the pdb file."
The project property for ComServer.dll is as follows:
ComServer property pages ->Configuration properties ->Debugging: Command:"C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe"
Command Arguments: $(TargetPath).
Is there a fix, or any possible workaround to this issue ? (I'm new to the whole COM / Windows programming scene).
The ComServer.dll contains the following functions:
DllRegisterServer
DllUnregisterServer
DllGetClassObject

Visual Studio error while trying to run project

I have the following scenario:
Visual Studio 2010 solution with one WPF-project, output file is "Tool.exe"
Eclipse Shared Library project, output file is "Tool.dll"
I place the dll in the same folder as the exe and then I try to debug using Visual Studio; but I get the following error:
Error while trying to run project: Could not load file or assembly 'Tool' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.
I have managed to find a solution to the problem, rename the dll, apparently the exe and dll cannot have the same name. My question is, why is this error occuring in the first place? Why does the name of the dll affect Visual Studio? The error occurs before even trying to pinvoke the dll. If I run my application without Visual Studio it works perfectly, but I want to be able to debug it of course.
Right now renaming the dll is plan B, but before I do that I would like to know if there is anything else I can do to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.
I found simple steps to solve this error.
1- change your windows.
2- install Symantec Endpoint Protection Client 12.1.6318.6100 x32 or x64 bit.
You can geting it software(32 bit) from link: (ftp://192.168.168.215/Public/Antivirus/Symantec/Symantec Endpoint Protection Client 12.1.6318.6100 x86.rar)
drag and drop it to your software(IE ,....) to work.
3- install all driver on your computer.
4- install Visual studio.
End

32bit COMin VS 2010

I am trying add OTAClient.dll (HP Quality Center) to the COM components of VS 2010. It is a 32bit dll and I have run the following on code from the SysWOW64 directory as an admin. It runs successfully and when I open VS 2010 and try to add the COM to my toolbox it is not listed. I browse for the file itself and try to add it, but it does not appear in the list. Any suggestions?
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files (x86)\HP\Quality Center Client Side\OTAClient.dll"
I tried adding the .dll as a reference and I get the following warnings:
"The reference component 'TDAPIOLELib' cound not be found."
"The specified task executable "TlbImp.exe" could not be run. The requested operation requires elevation"
"Cannot find wrapper assembly for type library "TDAPIOLELib".

OpenGL config in Visual Studio 2010

i would like to use OpenGl in Visual Studio 2010. Following Problem: "error LNK1104: Data "GIU32.lib OpenGL32.lib freeglut.lib glut32.lib" could not be oppend"
I read many Tutorials but they don´t help me :-(.
The lib data sets are in "C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0a\lib".
The header data sets are in "C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0a\Include\gl"
The dll data sets are in "C:\Windows\SysWOW64"
I Use Windows 7 Professional 64Bit.
I put "GIU32.lib OpenGL32.lib freeglut.lib glut32.lib" on Project > Properties > Linker > Input.
This is what you need to do.
Obtain GLUT for Windows (OpenGL Utility Toolkit) from Nate Robins’ web page. I put it on my C drive. The current documentation for GLUT tells you to go into the glut project folder and build the glut.dsw Visual Studio project. This is a little misleading since there is no glut.dsw file and all the dll, lib etc files you need are already there! So don’t worry about doing this, just download it.
Create a Visual Studio Project such as a new Console Application. For Windows XP: paste the glut32.dll file into: C:\Windows\System32. For Windows 7: place the glut32.dll inside the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder instead.
In the Project properties, select C/C++ -> General -> Additional Include Directories and add the location of the glut.h header file. This might be C:\glut-3.7.6-bin\
In the Project properties, select Linker -> General -> Additional Library Directories and add the location of the glut libraries eg C:\glut-3.7.6-bin\
In the Project properties, select Linker -> Input -> Additional Dependencies and add “glut32.lib”.
It should then compile. For a more detailed explanation, plus advice for installing the latest Windows Drivers from the Intel site, see this blog post.
Your error message lists all missing files in the same error.
That means you didn't set your dependencies correctly, because the linker searched for the file "GIU32.lib OpenGL32.lib freeglut.lib glut32.lib", which doesn't exist, of course.
The file names have to be separated by ";" in the Additional Dependencies section (under Linker > Input).
Or, if you use the edit menu by choosing it from the drop-down selection, each dependency has to be in a new line.
So you have to write "GIU32.lib;OpenGL32.lib;freeglut.lib;glut32.lib".
If error persists, you just put the libs in wrong place. Try to define additional lib path in project properties (sorry, I don't have VS 2010 around to show you exact location).
The DLLs need to be in BOTH system32 and syswow64

Has a HOWTO including a screenshot of the linker options you need to set.

visual studio copy dll references to output folder

I am trying to extend a certain application. I am using a DLL which comes bundled with that application to extend its functionality. I am using visual studio 2010 express edition. I added a reference to the dll library. In the reference properties the option "Copy local" is disabled.(greyed out) why is that? I want visual studio to copy the dll to my release folder. If this can't be done is there another way to bundle the dll?
Your comment to Hans answer indicates this is a COM assembly and that you are using Visual Studio 2010.
This means the assembly reference was likely added with the "Embed Interop Types" setting set to true. This has the effect of linking the COM assembly into your binary removing the need to deploy it altogether. The following link has a more detailed explanation
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd409610.aspx
If you do want to deploy it though then will need to do the following
Click on the reference in the references tab
Hit F4 to bring up the properties grid
Set "Embed Interop Types" to False (this will ungray Copy Local)
Set "Copy Local" to true
It depends on what kind of DLL it is. If it is a COM server then Copy Local is off when you have a PIA registered for that COM server. If it is a regular .NET assembly then it will be off when it is registered in the GAC.
Fix the issue by, respectively, using regasm /u to unregister the PIA or gacutil /u to remove it from the GAC. Do note that you might not want to do this if this DLL requires that its installer is executed on the target machine. Which is likely. Talk to the component vendor or author to find out what you should do.

DSL Tools: How to create the DLL as weak-named

I have a DSL Tools solution.
I need to add a weak-named reference to this project.
Because the DSL Tools project DLL is strong-named i cannot used the weak-named DLL.
I cannot make the DLL strong-named because i cannot recompile it.
I tried to make my DSL Tools project DLL weak-named by going to the Dsl and DslPackage project properties and unchecked the option "Sign the assembly" in the Sigining tab.
Then i compile it.
The error list gives the following error
"gacutil.exe" exited with code 1
Looking at the VS2005 output window i see gacutil is being called
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\bin\gacutil.exe -nologo -i "C:\Academy\ResearchAndDevelopment\FrontendGenerator\DslPackage\bin\Debug\vantyx.FEGenerator.DslPackage.dll"
After that i used the command prompt and the gacutil.exe error displays as this:
Z:\>"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\bin\gacutil.exe" -nologo -i "C:\Academy\ResearchAndDevelopment\FrontendGenerator\DslPackage\bin\Debug\vantyx.FEGenerator.DslPackage.dll"
Failure adding assembly to the cache: Attempt to install an assembly without a strong name
I don't know why and how gacutil.exe is being called.
I looked at the project and solution properties and there is no option configured to call gacutil.exe.
I even looked inside every file for "gacutil.exe" but i found nothing.
What i really want is to be able to use the weak-named DLL that i cannot make strong-named.
As a result of this, i've been trying to make my DSL Tools DLL weak-named but i can't.
Any help on how i can workaround this?
Many thanks in advance,
Luís Filipe
Using runtime binding with reflexion is a good solution and works. The other solution I've implemented besides that one is to launch a separate AppDomain and have that AppDomain doing the loading of the assembly and running whatever methods you want. The downside of this approach is the extra complexity and performance. One really has to know what he is doing as he is in practice launching a separate .net application in Visual Studio's process space. The upside is that with some care, you can get type safety all the way.
With the exception of the answer written above,
All add-ins for Visual Studio must be strong-named.
One may workaround some of the issues by loading the assembly on run-time and using reflection to invoke methods.

Luís
