Installing VS Shell Isolated on Windows 8.1 using SCCM 2012 - visual-studio-2013

First off, I know about the bug that happens when installing Visual Studio 2013 on Windows 8.1 using SCCM 2012. However, I believe this bug was fixed in the update 3. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsnetsetup/archive/2014/10/29/error-26403-failed-to-add-user-to-group.aspx
I have downloaded and installed Visual Studio Premium 2013 with update 4.
I have downloaded the latest available version of the Visual Studio 2013 Shell (Isolated). https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads/download-visual-studio-vs.aspx. And when installing with SCCM 2012, I am still getting the error message that was present in pre-update 3 versions of visual studio.
Error 26403.Failed to add user to group. (-2147463168 SYSTEM Performance Log Users )
Does anyone have a workaround for installing Vs Shell (Isolated) onto a windows 8.1 machine with sccm 2012 ?

Problems installing Visual Studio 2010 Professional on Windows 8.1

I have been trying to install Visual Studio 2010 Professional on my Windows 8.1 laptop and I am having problems. It seems to install and when I look at the applications list I see everything has installed except the Visual Studio 2010 (devenv.exe) application itself. Has anyone had this problem and found a solution for it? I have checked that .NET 2.0, 3.x and 4.x are all installed on the machine and active. The installer shows that it is installing the application but when it's completed the application is no where to be found.
I had the same thing happen to me, because I had SQL Server Data Tools installed, causing the shortcut to be named "sql server Data Tools". Try looking up the executable in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe and manually creating the shortcut on the start screen:
Be sure to install the updates as well:
Visual Studio 2010 SP1
Visual Studio 2010 GDR for Team Foundation Server
Visual Studio 2010 Compatibility Update for Windows 8 and Visual Studio 2012

Visual Studio 2013 and Windows Phone

I have installed Visual Studio 2013 Pro and then I wanted to install Windows Phone 8 SDK. But it installed Express Edition of VS 2012. Now if I delete VS 2013, what happens with my VS 2012? Can I delete it, because I don't have enough memory for it? Can you help me, please!
They are independent, you can uninstal one without influencing the other.
You can install this version of Visual Studio on a computer that already has an earlier version installed.
but
If you uninstall a version of Visual Studio on a computer that has more than one version installed, the file associations for Visual Studio are removed for all versions.

Visual Studio 2012 - MSVCR110.dll error

I have a Windows 7 Express, with Visual Studio 2012. When I run it I get this message:
"C:\windows\system32\MSVCR110.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try reinstalling the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support".
I tried these things:
Repairing Visual Studio with installation.
Uninstalling and installing again.
Installing .Net framework manually.
Installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable
Getting the .dll from a computer with a working Visual Studio 2012.
Using a different installation of Visual Studio.
Nothing worked and I have no idea what's the problem.
The two installations that I've used worked on different computers with the same operating system.
Please I need ideas!!
Do you have Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed? If Not do that first.
Even after that you have two options:
Remove & Reinstall by downloading a new copy of Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4
Check System requirements section carefully it requires Windows 7 Service Pack 1 installed to work.
Reinstall Visual Studio 2012 with Update 4

Windows Phone Developer Tools January 2011 Update is not being installed

I am new to the windows phone development, and I am struggling to get everything installed related to the windows phone development tools. I had already MS Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate - ENU with SP1 installed on my machine (with Windows 7 Enterprise + Windows 7 SP1). I installed the Windows Phone SDK 7.1 (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27570), and then Windows Phone Developer Tools RTW successfully. But when I tried to open Visual Studio, it said that only a few Visual Studio components had Visual Studio SP1, and in order to open the Visual Studio I had to install the complete Visual Studio SP1. So then I reinstalled the Visual Studio SP1 and the Visual Studio started working fine.
Now I have MS Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate - ENU with SP1, Windows Phone SDK 7.1, and Windows Phone Developer Tools RTW installed on my machine, but when I try to install Windows Phone Developer Tools January 2011 Update, following error message is displayed:
"The update patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
I have verified everything. Does anyone know what am I doing wrong?
Try uninstalling the developer tools completely then install dev tools rtw followed by patch and then sdk
I guess something goes wrong with your Visual Studio SP1 installation, so to uninstall all the developer tools and then doing the fresh installation would be the good Idea.
You can do the installation in this sequence..
Win 7 SP1
Visual Studio
Visual Studio SP1
WP7 developer tools
WP developer tools update
Hope it helps.
That update that is throwing an error is not required. The order of installation is detailed on this page: http://create.msdn.com/en-us/resources/downloads
You want to be installing the SDK 7.1 and then the SDK 7.1.1 update.
There's no need for you to uninstall Visual Studio here.

Paul

Windows 7 Visual Studio 2005 compatibility

I'm now working on RC Windows 7 and installed Visual Studio 2008 Professional edition. But I need to work with Java programs, and so I needed to work with Visual Studio 2005. I installed Visual Studio 2005 SP1 (VS80sp1-KB926747), but I have the following problem:
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
I previously had the same problem when I installed the Visual Studio SDK, February2007.
I had a similar problem when I was installing Visual Studio 2005 Professional on a Windows 7 machine.
But here is what I did to fix the problem:
Install Visual Studio 2005 Professional
During the install, a window popped up saying that VS2005 might not be compatible with Windows 7. Ignore this warning and continue.
Install Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 Team Suite Service Pack 1
VS80sp1-KB926601-X86-ENU.exe
Link: Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2005 Team Suite Service Pack 1
Install Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Update for Windows Vista
VS80sp1-KB932232-X86-ENU.exe
Link: Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 Update for Windows Vista
Note:
If you try and install #3 before #2, you will end up with a message that says :
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch."
Hope it helps.
BBlake is right look at: https://superuser.com/questions/34190/visual-studio-2005-sp1-refuses-to-install-in-windows-7
It looks like you're trying to install SP1 (the patch) without having first installed Visual Studio 2005 (the application). The SP1 install is only for patching an existing installation.
