I'm tinkering with connection to our work Exchange thing from Linux and trying to understand what is happening with the autodiscover process.
I start with
curl -u 'xxxx' https://outlook.office365.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
and get back a page that I've created a service and says to point at
https://am3pr05mb0677.eurprd05.prod.outlook.com:444/EWS/Services.wsdl
but dns lookup (dig) on am3pr05mb0677.eurprd05.prod.outlook.com fails, as does digging for eurprd05.prod.outlook.com and prod.outlook.com. All I get back is a SOA record.
Basically, WTH is going on? I've googled my fingers off and found lots of references to eurprd05.prod.outlook.com but they all seem to be from people who are not having any trouble resolving the name. Why me?!
Ultimately, this is aiming at command line room booking function for work, but that's a long way off at the moment!

I have done something silly and written a script for a website that does an ajax check every 2 seconds. In this case its using wordpress and its admin-ajax.php file every 2 seconds. This essentially burned up all the CPU power of the server, and made every site on the server run really slowly.
After a lot of detective work, i finally found the script and stopped it, so that it doesn't happen on new loads of that website. But looking at my apache log, i can see that it is still running in one browser somewhere.
Is there a way for me to stop that browser from requesting that ajax-call, or perhaps block it from my server? Or will I just have to wait until that browser is being refreshed or closed?
Try to use netstat or something similar through ssh to detect the IP and port of the unknown browser. Also you should try to reboot the server so it may will loose connection.
PS: It's pretty hard to give a clue or answer in the right direction without having any logs or evidence to ensure you answer to this question correctly.
I've spent hours trying to figure out the answer to this and just continue to come up empty handed. I've setup a XMPP server through OpenFire that is fully functional. My goal with creating the server was placing an alert system for when an event is completed on my server. For example when one of my renders is finished rendering (takes hours, sometimes days), it has the option of running a command when it's finished. This command would then run a .bat file telling a theoretical program to send a message via the broadcast plugin in OpenFire to all parties involved in the render. So it needs to be able to receive parameters such as %N for name of the render and %L for the label of it.
I've located two programs that do exactly what I'm looking to do but one does not work and from the sounds of the comments may have never worked and the second one is seemingly LINUX only. The render server is Windows as is the OpenFire server so naturally it would not work. Here are the links though so you can get an idea.

http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/jaunty/man1/sendxmpp.1.html
Basically the command I want to push is identical to that of the first link.
xmppalert.exe -m "%N is complete." %L#broadcast.myserver
This would broadcast to everyone in the labels Group that the named render is complete.
If anyone has any idea how to get either of the above links working, know of another way or simply have a better idea on how to accomplish what I'm trying to do please let me know. This is something that has been eating at me for 2 days now.
Thanks.
you can take a look at PoshXMPP which allows you to use XMPP from the Powershell.

I'm using the WNetEnumResource to enumerate all network share connections and WNetCancelConnection2 to close them. Then I am using WNetUseConnection to connect to a share using discrete credentials. This process happens multiple times throughout the day.
The problem that I'm running into is that after the first flow through the process I'm getting:
System Error 1219 has occurred.
Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user,
using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all
previous connections to the server or shared resource and try again.
This happens even when the enumeration says there are no current connections.
My question is: why? Why am I getting this error? Is the authenticated connection to the server still cached? Can I enumerate these authentication tokens? Kerberos? LSA?
I haven't been able to find the smallest foothold of information to progress forward on this project. Any help is appreciated!
I'm trying to remember the solution we used when we came across this problem for a network backup program a few years ago.
I'm certain the solution involves using either WNetAddConnection2 or WNetAddConnection3 instead of WNetUseConnection. I think that passing the flag CONNECT_CRED_RESET should take care of this, but I'm not absolutely certain.
Note that CONNECT_CRED_RESET is only documented for WNetAddConnection2 and not WNetAddConnection3, though MSDN says the only difference between the two is the hWnd parameter for owner of dialog windows - I'd try with WNetAddConnection2 and only if it works, experiment with WNetAddConnection3. You may even get it to work with WNetUseConnection!
Make sure to note the dependencies CONNECT_CRED_RESET has on other flags.
A customer is reporting a connection failure with a strange profile: it apparently only fails for the very first URL request via CFNetwork since the app has launched.
The error code apparently being returned by CFNetwork is domain CFStreamErrorHTTP, but with error code -4, which does not correspond to any publicly defined error code for this domain.
In CFHTTPStream.h, the publicly defined error codes for CFStreamErrorHTTP end auspiciously at -3, strongly hinting that -4 may be an error code that Apple is using but which has not yet been publicly documented.
Any idea what's going on here? Has anybody else seen this error code and found rhyme or reason for it?
Probably not the final answer and this may have changed since they closed sourced CFNetwork, but I did find the following online which indicates that -4 is a connection lost error.

I guess you'll have to show some of the code that's failing, but a few questions spring to mind. First, can you trace this issue yourself, can you reproduce it? In particular, it would be interesting to see on which thread this happens, and what's the current runLoop mode. It could be indicative of a stream or connection that fails scheduling on the internal CF runloops.
Other than this (and it's a shame CFNetwork is no longer publicly updated), it could be a zillion things, but you'll need to log as much information as you can if you can't directly debug the failure (hint hint -- https://github.com/fpillet/NSLogger can help you remotely log the info from the client).
Finally, ask the question on Mac Dev Forums (or iOS Dev Forums if your code runs on iOS). Ping Quinn, He Knows It All. Once he can't publicly answer the question, open a DTS incident and send him the ticket #. He's the guy you want to look into your problem :-)
I'm trying to get a listing of machines in my local domain, specifically ones running a administrative web service (_asip-webadmin). I've been fooling with NSNetService but it would seem that it's only good for Bonjour listings (as I can trap them just fine). I've tried something along the lines of:
[mySearch searchForServicesOfType:#"_asip-webadmin._tcp." inDomain:#"local."];
which results in utter failure, or should I say the debugger gives me a blank stare back. A point in the right direction is all I need. Thanks!
I was on the right track. The problem was I was using the wrong service name.
I mistakenly looked in etc/services for the service name, whereas I should have looked here:
http://www.dns-sd.org/servicetypes.html
The following line does work for what I needed:
[mySearch searchForServicesOfType:#"_servermgr._tcp." inDomain:#"local."];
Assume mySearch is of type NSNetServiceBrowser.
