I work with eclipse for decades. If I want to export a project to a zip file and open it into another eclipse, it's trivial.
But I am really feeling stupid because I don't know how to do the same with JDeveloper.
Is there any menu command or button that I can just click and export my JDeveloper project to hand to some other developer?
Not from inside JDeveloper - but you can just zip the directory where your project is from outside the IDE and pass is over to the other user.

IntelliJ IDEA 2020 can (finally!) simply open a file to be edited, without a project being involved. This is called LightEdit mode.
At this point in a JetBrains video, we see the host platform's file manager app opening a file via IntelliJ while noting that all such files should be opened using that same tool.
No "IntelliJ" application to choose
The problem for me is that I am a happy user of JetBrains Toolbox app to automatically install, upgrade, and open IntelliJ. So in my "Applications" folder on macOS, I have no "IntelliJ" application to choose in the Mac Finder when trying to open a file.
Is there some other way or trick to getting the Finder to know to open files with IntelliJ? And preferably with the latest version, as I believe Toolbox may keep around the older versions.
Basically, I am asking the same as this Question, How to make available “open this project in IntelliJ IDEA” option in Windows context menu, if IntelliJ IDEA has been installed via JetBrains Toolbox?, but for macOS instead of MS Windows. The Answer on that other Question is Windows-specific.
As a Toolbox user you still have access to the "generated shell scripts" (/usr/local/bin/idea, or things like /usr/local/bin/phpstorm, /usr/local/bin/pycharm, etc for individual applications).
But, these are shell scripts, and cannot be used for this because they lack the application identifiers needed by the OS for launching apps.
What you can do is wrap any of this with an Automator application. By wrapping the shell script directly, it should remain updated (since the shell script is itself a Toolbox generated wrapper that points to the latest installed version).
To do so:
Open Automator and click on the "new document" button.
Select "Application".
Add a "Run shell script" action from the library:
Change the "pass input" dropdown from "to stdin" to "as arguments".
Create a script similar to this this (replace phpstorm with idea or whatever IDE you have installed):

/usr/local/bin/phpstorm -e "$file"
done
Save the application somwhere, with a descriptive name:
Once that one is saved, you'll be able to use it to launch files from Finder, or even set it as default for a file type:
Use the app's menu: IntelliJ IDEA -> Preferences -> Editor -> File Types
Then press the Associate File Types with IntelliJ IDEA button.
A window will open with file groups you could choose from, and then press the OK button, then Apply and another OK.
After this, a MacOS restart is required.
When you open a .cpp file with XCode, you can edit it and everything, but the run button doesn't show. You can convert it to a workspace, but even then, the run button is greyed out, even if you create a new scheme (since you can't create new targets in a workspace). I have also tried File > New > Project, but it doesn't transfer the files that are already in the workspace into the project. Help!
What I mean by this is that usually in codeblocks when you create a new file while you have a project open asks you to add it to the project, and when you do it'll be tied to it so when you open the project file it will have the files with it, but this doesn't work for some reason, also right click in management doesn't work, just the whole management panel seems to be broken.
TL;DR: Codeblocks doesn't add newly created files to current open project file.
I get all sorts of errors and crashes in CodeBlocks... I'd create the file you want, then manually add it to the project folder (outside of CodeBlocks with file explorer/Finder/terminal) you want it in and refresh...
I'm working on a maven project in Spring tool suite(STS), issue is unable to navigate to other classes and methods (using ctrl+ mouse click), and its showing many error messages near import statements and other places in the class.
When clicked on the red cross mark which states error and select FIX project setup below is the message displayed on popup window.

Please suggest how to include .m2 file automatically while build process to avoid the error messages and to navigate to other classes and methods using ctrl and mouse click.
It sounds like your project is not properly set up so that the IDE doesn't really configure its classpath correctly. Normally this would all happen automatically via m2e (i.e. Eclipse's maven support).
M2e is included in STS by default, so its probably installed, but somehow your project isn't treated as a maven project.
You can try to re-import it using the proper 'import wizard' which should set things up correctly for you.
Steps:
Delete the project from the workspace. Take care not to actually delete the files themselves. (There's a checkbox 'Delete project contents on disk', so don't select that).
clean out all the 'junk' data from your project. Delete all tese files / folders from your project .classpath, .project, .settings, target.
Now that you have a 'clean slate'. Import it using m2e. Menu: File >> Import >> Existing Maven Projects".
This should setup everything correctly.
I say should because it depends to a large degree on what is in the project itself. But this, in principle, is the correct way to import maven project into STS (or Eclipse in general).
I've created a one-line batch file to run SqlMetal to regenerate a LINQ to SQL DataContext for my database; this works great.

So far I can run this by opening the enclosing folder in Explorer and running the batch file, and I've also added it to the Tools menu (Tools/External Tools.../Add).
Now I'd like to run this batch file whenever I build (in certain configurations). How do I do this?
What you seem to be looking for can be found under "Pre-build event command line" under your project's properties. Click the "Build Events" tab, and you'll have a little space to enter in a command line which does what you want.
Doh! Of course. Web Application projects have pre- and post- build events; Web Site projects don't.
