in the latest version VS Express is not supported, so you might want to use Visual Studio Community instead (which is also a free VS SKU).

I recently installed Microsoft Visual Studio community verion 2015 on my computer for educational purposes. However while installation I conservatively chose not to install the source files for C/C++. Is there any way to rectify this? There doesn't seem to be any update menu in Visual Studio where I can do this.
You can have Visual Studio check for any updates itself by going to Tools > Extensions & Updates > Updates > Product Updates.
You can install any of the custom components (Visual C++, Visual F#, others) later if you don’t select them during the initial setup, there have some methods to modify VS to select the custom components to update and you can have a look at the following:
Go to Control Panel—Programs and Features, right click the Visual Studio Community 2015 with updates and Change, it popups the VS installer windows and click Modify button, then you can find the option ‘Visual C++’ under Programming Languages and check it, click ‘Next’ button to install it like the following screenshot.
If you still store the installer file of the Visual Studio Community 2015 with update 3 on your computer, right click it and run it as administrator, click Modify button and you can find the same installer windows as the above, check the option ‘Visual C++’ to install it.
I have Xamarin installed on the Visual Studio 2013 on Windows Operating System. It works fine.

I have recently installed Visual Studio 2015 on my desktop on Windows operating system. I thought when I opened the VS2015, I expected to see the Xamarin in it, but it does not. Then I installed the Xamarin again, and again and again, but still Xamarin does not show up in VS2015.
I wonder what is wrong? What am I missing?
By the way, I still have VS2013 on my desktop.

I have installed Xamarin in my Visual Studio 2015 two days ago and it showing Xamarin under Tools. Below I have described the approach which I have followed to install Xamarin in Visual Studio 2015.
Go to Contol Panel >> Program Features >> Visual Studio
2015 >> Change>> Modify
1. Select C#/.Net(Xamarin) under Cross Platform Mobile Development
2. Check if these three red marked items are checked or not.

I recently had horrendous problems trying to install Xamarin on VS2015 + Win10. (I don't have any other VS versions installed.) Even a full install and reinstall left huge holes in the installation. I tried repeatedly and each time the whole dev environment seemed to get itself in a different unusable state.
The fix for me, which is probably hitting a nut with a sledgehammer, was to:
Uninstall Xamarin (via Control Panel|Uninstall).
Uninstall Visual Studio (via Control Panel|Uninstall).
Follow Xamarin's manual uninstallation procedures Full Xamarin Uninstall.
Perform full reinstall of Visual Studio, being sure to tick the boxes shown in the answer by Parth Patel above.
This resulted in a faultless, fully functioning Xamarin environment for me. Overkill, maybe, but worth a go if all else fails.
Here is the solution:
I have deleted all the existing versions of visual studio ( 2010, 2012, 2013) except Visual Studio 2015 and then installed the Xamarin, and then I could able to see Xamarin on Visual Studio 2015.
It is not required to delete previous versions of VS. I have Xamarin Studio, VS 2013 and now VS 2015 and working perfectly. I moved to VS 2015 due to recent purchase of Xamarin by MS and that VS 2015 has Xamarin included.
I believe the issue with this question is was that your VS 2015 install did not include the add ins as pointed out in another answer in this question.
After the VS 2015 install -the only caveat was projects created initially in Xaramin Studio and then Opened in VS 2015 to needed to have the build configuration in the project tweaked. If not you could not get the project to build and then be deployed to an emulator or device for debug testing.

Note: Some of these steps have older versions listed in the respective paths. You should use the latest version number available.
Before any install or uninstall actions. Try open some sample Xamarin project, in most cases during opening project in VS 15, it will show you, what needs to be installed or what is missing / corrupted.

I had some problems with my emulator best way to fix the problems is to uninstall everything (emulators, android sdk, vs, xamarin) and reinstall it.
It is also important to delete other or older versions of visual studio. Then you should probably see you options.
First try to uninstall all the other versions of Visual Studio (VS) 2013 in this case. Then try to reinstall Xamarin.
Visual Studio 2015 is little bit different from 2013 version, I am also using xamarin on visual studio 2015. But that is not listed under tools menu like 2013.
Maybe developers had changed that, you can go to "start a new project"(just like you start new app development), there you can find xamarin/android projects list, there you can start new android projects.
This is strange, I did not have any problem with Xamarin & VS 2015 (community).

I have just installed VS 2013 RC2 and TypeScript refactoring stopped working. It disappeared from context menu, and pressing Ctrl+R, Ctrl+R gives the following error message:
The key combination (Ctrl+R, Ctrl+R) is bound to command (.Refactor.Rename) which is not currently available.
I have tried restarting VS, didn't help. Any ideas, workarounds?

Microsoft posted the following answer to my question on MS Connect. Seems that while refactor/rename was available in VS Express Edition with TypeScript 0.9, in TypeScript 1.0 it's only available from VS Pro upwards.

For me it happened because of resharper conflict. I uninstalled resharper and restarted visual studio
I have downloaded the latest version of OzCode (OzCode_0.9.3426.6578_6988) and while I tried to install it. The visual studio integration page of OzCode setup lists the VS versions but the the checkbox next to the VS version is not clickable( can't check the checkbox, disabled); the next button is disabled also; If I click on back button now and then next button is enabled( but VS Version checkbox is still un checkable) and then if I install it; OzCode doesn't appear in VS 2012 Menu. (Other than that there is no installation error)
What is happening ? I am unable to figure out.
Are you using Visual Studio Express? That might explain it, as Visual Studio Express does not support extensions.
I was using Visual Studio 2010 previously, with visual SVN as the source control. Now that I've upgraded to Visual Studio 2012, I'm facing problem of adding SVN as the source control (to VS 2012). By default only Team Foundation is there. Any help with how to add SVN as the source control to Visual Studio 2012 would be really appreciated.
VisualSVN 3.0 supports Visual Studio 2012. You can get it at the download page.
Except VS2012 support and a couple of usability and UI improvements VisualSVN 3.0 introduces the new Community License that allows to use VisualSVN for free on non-domain machines (moreover it permits commercial use!). See the VisualSVN 3.0 Release Notes.
In VS2012 just go to Tools/Options/Source control and in dropdown "Current source control plug-in" select the needed one (if you already have it installed)
Run the Visual SVN installer again and select 'Modify'
Tick the box that say 'Integration Visual Studio 2012'
and then continue with the installation. Restart VS 2012 and you will see VISUAL SVN on the TOP menu
We use AnkhSVN for VS2012 and lower versions.
Most likely you're using old version of VisualSVN that doesn't support VS2012. Try to install latest VisualSVN 3.0 for Visual Studio 2012 support.
Currently I am using VisualSVN-5.1.4, but I have done this with previous versions.
Re-run the installer.
Select "Modify", then Next to move to the "Custom Setup" pane.
A checkbox list of the installed Visual Studio (VS) versions will appear.
Check to VS('s) that apply.
Open the targeted VS.
Open the "Tools>Options" dialog and select Source Control
Select "VisualSVN" from the "Current source control plug-in" combo box.
I first took the "Repair" option but that did not put VisualSVN in the Source Control options list. It didn't hurt but it didn't help, either.
Yo need to run the installer of subversion again and repair the installation.
The installer will register the application in the VS2012 version too.
We had the same problem with it.
What you really need to do is go to Tools -> Options
In the dialog scroll down to Source Control -> plug-in-selections.
There is a drop down that has a list of source controls and you select your SVN controller there (Ankh, Visual, whatever one you want).
This is the same for 2012, 2013 and 2015
Re-run the installer , and during the setup, choose the versions of Visual Studio you want to be available.
