How to update a Filenet document's content without changing the version? - filenet-p8

I am trying to change document content and save the changes into current version itself without increment the document version number using filenet java API.
Any one help me on this topic.

Changing content always leads to the creation of a new version. It is not possible to directly accomplish what you want.
If you need the version number intact, delete the current version and save the changes. Then create a new version.

As fnt said, the main goal of an ECM platform is to guarantee that a version content stays unchanged. The only thing doable, is to update as much times as you need the content of the checked out version (reservation). That can be useful for a Save (without CheckIn scenario). Don't know if that is useful to you. If not, you need to delete/re-create a new version to keep the same version number.

Delete, make changes to the document and recreate the same with updated content is the only solution.

When does version in google drive REST API change?

The property "version" in File Resource changes for a file even when there is no change made to the file or its properties. So why does this happen? What could be the other conditions under which the version changes?
You really should read the documentation that you yourself linked before posting.
version long A monotonically increasing version number for the
file. This reflects every change made to the file on the server, even
those not visible to the requesting user.
Any time the file is changed the version number will be increased. Even if it is not changed by you but by someone or something else.

iTunes Connect Developer reject - Delete non needed build / binaries

I uploaded a binary update to the new iTunesConnect, but had not submitted. I found a bug, and tried to remove the existing binary - could not find a way to do that. I then submitted for review but immediately rejected it. Still can't see a way to delete it and upload a new one. How do I upload my new version? OR how do I cancel my update and start a new one?
You don't need to reject Binaries anymore, just change the BUILD number to something higher 1.1 or something like that. Leave the version number the same.
Then it will let you upload it and you can select it from the list to add to your submission.
It took me a while to figure out but it's actually a much better solution than all the rejecting nonsense.
You can't delete binaries that are uploaded. I had to developer reject couple of times and I had 6 of these binaries there. I selected one and then submittted for approval. There is no way to remove "non-needed" ones from this list

Detecting file modification with install4j

We ship a config file as a part of our installation that we create via install4j. Suppose the user is doing an upgrade installation when we ship a new version of the product. Is there any way to determine if the user has manually modified the file after last installation ??
We need to detect if the user has modified this file, and then merge the changes that the user has done with the new changes that we are introducing by the update.
Any pointers / ideas would be greatly appreciated.
TIA
As of 5.1.11, install4j does not support this kind of content-based modification detection. Modification detection only takes file modification times into account.
Windows installer compares a file's create and modify dates. If they are different the file has changed.
I believe you can solve this in a better way by writing the config file using the main application executable using "internal defaults" in your application instead of a base config file delivered via your setup. You can then re-apply all internal defaults to the existing file, add any new updates whilst keeping user changes where possible (sometimes you want to override what has been changed?).
The more intelligent an application is in its configuration and maintenance of settings, the less deployment problems you will see.

Does GUID change on update?

So I am getting the GUID number and using it in my application for some stuff and checking processes with database. But I don't know whether the GUID stays the same or changes on updates, because if it changes - I will have to rewrite parts of the program, and I don't want to do that.
I mean - I have already published and given the product to the client (with some GUID), but after some time I make some changes to the software, and provide it as update of the product, to the client. Does the GUID change then or it stays the same?
Well it depends on how big the update is... I would say no, it do not change... If we are talking about product GUID it should change on release of new version of products...
take a look at http://wix.tramontana.co.hu/tutorial/upgrades-and-modularization
No. It doesn't change. Actually, the significance of the GUID comes into picture if the assembly is made COMVisible. AssemblyInfo.cs file gets generated at the time the project is created. And GUID in that doesn't change automatically.

Joomla: On extension update: Change table schema (remove column)

I have developed a Joomla extension and in the newest version the need to delete one column from a table belonging to my plugin has arisen.
As far as I know there is no easy way to delete a column in Mysql only if it exists. Therefore, the only possibility I see at the moment to achieve that, would be to use custom php upgrade code, as shown here.
But this problem would seem so common to me, that I would suspect to be an easier solution?
Is there maybe an easy way (provided through Joomla) to execute a schema change only when updating from a particular extension version?
Check Managing Component Updates with Joomla; starting with Joomla 1.6 there is a defined way to execute specific SQL instructions for an upgrade from one version to another. Basically, for each version an SQL file has to be created (even if it's empty or only contains comments) in a specific file structure. The linked article explains the details.
