I've tried every solution on this website and others, unfortunately nothing is working. I click continue on the "Configuration" page and it processes for a minute or two and then reloads the configuration page. I would assume it was timing out but it always takes different lengths of time.
I've tried installing on XAMPP, WAMP and a Vagrant VM machine but they all have the same issue.
The only thing I can think of is that it is related to the default ports. I'm usings ports like 3305 and 4447 because 80/8080 are taken on my work computer by IIS.
Is there an issue using the port suffix when creating magento installations?
I'm using php 5.5.12, according to Mage 1.9.2 documentation PHP 5.5 is required a minimum.
Things I've tried:
Switching between "localhost" and "127.0.0.1" with the various ports on the end
Removing the validation class from the base URL box
Checking "Skip Base URL Validation Before the Next Step"
Trying various URLs in the hosts file
There's also some other really specific things I tried that I can't quite recall because I've tried so much over the past 4 hours, but pretty much if it's suggested on this site or the Magento forums then I've already done it. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have recently decided to try out Laravel Sail instead of my usual setup with Vagrant/Homestead. Everything seems to be beautifully and easily laid out but I cannot seem to find a workaround for changing domain names in the local environment.
I tried serving the application on say port 89 with the APP_PORT=89 sail up command which works fine using localhost:89 however it seems cumbersome to try and remember what port was which project before starting it up.
I am looking for a way to change the default port so that I don't have to specify what port to serve every time I want to sail up. Then I can use an alias like laravel.test for localhost:89 so I don't have to remember ports anymore I can just type the project names.
I tried changing the etc/hosts file but found out it doesn't actually help with different ports
I essentially am trying to access my project by simply typing 'laravel.test' on the browser for example.
Also open for any other suggestions to achieve this.
Thanks
**Update **
After all this search I actually decided to change my workflow to only have one app running at a time so now I am just using localhost and my CPU and RAM loves it, so if you are here moving from homestead to docker, ask yourself do you really need to run all these apps at the same time. If answer is yes research on, if not just use localhost, there is nothing wrong with it
To change the local name in Sail from the default 'laravel.test' and the port, add the following to your .env file:
APP_SERVICE="yourProject.local" APP_PORT=89
This will take effect when you build (or rebuild using sail build --no-cache) your Sail container.
And to be able to type in 'yourProject.local' in your web browser and have it load your web page, ensure you have your hosts file updated by adding
127.0.0.1 yourProject.localto your hosts file. This file is located:
Windows 10 – “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts”
Linux – “/etc/hosts”
Mac OS X – “/private/etc/hosts”
You'll need to close all browser instances and reopen after making chnages to the hosts file. With this, try entering the alias both with and without the port number to see which works. Since you already set the port via .env you may not need to include it in your alias.
If this doesn't work, change the .env APP_URL=http://yourProject.local:89
Ok another option, in /routes/web.php I assume you have a route set up that may either return a view or call a controller method. You could test to see if you can have this
‘return redirect('http://yourProject.local:89');’ This may involve a little playing around with the routes/controller, but this may be worth looking into.
I have a CodeIgniter setup that has been running fine for the past 2 months and recently I keep getting:
CodeIgniter error- unable to connect to database using the provided settings
I've recently added a new domain that has a landing page for the database login (zPanel), but I don't see how that could have caused a problem--maybe the page keeps getting directory attacked or something, but I'm not sure.
Is there a way to check if this is the problem through logs? I'm at dead ends with this problem, as when I restart the server (DigitalOcean) it works fine again.
Really not sure. If anyone else has had a similar problem, I'd love to hear your solution.
Thanks.
I think your mysql is going down so Codeigniter can't connect to your database settings.
Please login to SSH and check processes by "TOP" comment. See what is using resources ram or cpu.
And check your mysql conf settings, be sure that everything written if its empty it will cause alot of problems.

I have a Laravel 3 project, running on a plesk 11.5 CentOS 4(dedicated). It used to be on an IIS server, but i had to migrate it to plesk, since the company i'm working for is dumping the IIS server. Everything seemed to be running smoothly, until i logged out from my application, at first i got a WSOD (white screen of death), then i enabled php error reporting, and this is the error that was displayed:
Fatal error: Cannot override final method Laravel\Database\Eloquent\Model::sync()
This is a very strange error, since i have no method called Sync in any of my classes, and needless to say that there was no such error while the project was running on IIS.
I tried several different combinations of session/cache drivers, the only one that seems to be working is the APC driver.
When i have the APC driver enabled for cache and session, the above Fatal error is not displayed and everything works correctly. The PROBLEM is that i have given the Session Lifetime a value of 60(minutes) but it is completely ignored, meaning that the user is logged out after 2 or 3 minutes.
I've been to the Laravel IRC channel with this issue, some people kindly suggested to tweak the APC memory and ttl (time to leave) settings, but with no luck unfortunately :(.
Here are some APC settings from my server configuration:
apc.gc_ttl 3600
apc.shm_size 1024M
apc.shm_strings_buffer 32M
I desperately need help if anyone has any to offer! This is for a live running project and i need to find a solution asap.
I had the exact same issue and couldn't find a solution. I was going round in circles trying to figure out what on earth was going wrong.
I finally came across this post:
Fatal error: Cannot override final method
You need to make sure that the apc.include_once_override setting is set to 0. In your apc.ini file set like so:
apc.include_once_override=0
This error seems to be caused by caching of included classes.
I solved the problem after looking around the plesk panel.
The problem was that i had "Run PHP as FastCGI application" selected.
I switched to "Run PHP as CGI application" and everything works perfectly.
I'm not sure what the exact source of the problem was, only that FastCGI triggered the error.
I was wondering if someone could help me.
I have started using version control (git) for my website which is using CodeIgniter.
Everytime i transfer files from my localhost host to my live server, i always have to go through all my files and change the config details.
I came across a post saying i could do all this with the ENVIRONMENT settings in the index.php file automatically based on the SERVER_NAME.
Has anybody done this before? if so, would it be possible to let me know how its done properly?
Cheers,
Try this for a start (index.php):
if ($_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] == 'devserver1' || $_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] == 'devserver2')
define('ENVIRONMENT', 'development');
else
define('ENVIRONMENT', 'production');
Then, whenever you need it, you check for the ENVIRONMENT constant (for example, different database settings, etc.). For localhost, simply check if the server is 'localhost' ($_SERVER["HTTP_HOST"] == 'localhost'), or whichever virtual host name you might be using.
You could always use environment variables
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/env.html
This will allow you to get the environment instead of hard coding the information in your code
This may also help you out
http://docstore.mik.ua/orelly/linux/apache/ch04_06.htm
Not sure if you're still needing help with this, but I had this issue a while ago and released a CodeIgniter module which is designed to automatically handle multiple environments.
I'm shameful to be plugging myself, but it's saved me lots of editing and it might be of use to anyone else that'll read this post in the future.
Here's the link to the Git repo: https://github.com/jedkirby/ci-multi-environments and this is a brief explanation of why and how I made the module: http://jedkirby.com/blog/2012/11/codeigniter-multiple-development-environments
I started to mess around with the EC2 “Micro Instance” for a new site i’m working on. I put on an ubuntu lamp server and loaded up our favorite php framework and started along the coding path.
One frustrating thing i’m finding is whenever I make a mistake coding (which is rare! j/k), it gives my a “Server Error 500” and won’t display the php error line number or the helpful references to where the mistake might have happened.
Also when ever an error does appear and I try to fix the mistake it will remain the same for a couple of minutes. Its like its caching on my system or something. If I do something like this :
echo "test" //leaving off the semicolon
refresh the browser it comes up with the error. Then when I fix it:
echo "foo"; //corrected
I still get the Server Error 500. Not sure if anyone else has run in to these issues. Maybe its a php.ini configuration, .htaccess configuration (i’m using Paul Irish’s HTML5Boilerplate .htaccess code), or a LAMP configuration issue. Any pointers to where the problem might lie would be a huge help.
Thanks! Steve
this has nothing to do with ec2.
