BULK COLLECT INTO: 'identifier' must be declared - oracle

i am new to PLSQL and making a couple of exercises using Bulk SQL.
I have the following package:

I receive the following error in my Messages Log. (I'm using Oracle SQL Developer).
Error(43,37): PLS-00201: identifier 'V_EMPLOYEES_TAB' must be declared
I don't know where or how to declare the identifier in the function.

You need to define your variable (v_employees_tab) before the BEGIN, and indicate its type... for example:
FUNCTION commision_pct_update(p_job_id jobs.job_id%type, p_factor NUMBER) RETURN NUMBER AS
TYPE employees_type IS TABLE OF employees%ROWTYPE INDEX BY PLS_INTEGER;
v_employees_tab employees_type;
BEGIN

That's a sample type of course, choose your correct one

You can prefer using non-preserved keyword such as typ_emp instead of final which's reserved.

P.S. Never ever use SYSTEM user for non-administrative purposes. May be extremely harmful for your database.

Oracle Where with variable

I have problem with my plsql code. It's just part of my whole job.
declare
id number(2):=1; (here is function which returns any value)
check VARCHAR2(100);
begin
select COUNT(*) into check from T_SDSN_LOG Where ANY_ID=id AND CHECK LIKE
'NAME';
dbms_output.put_line(check);

In this case, my select returns 0 althought it should be 2.
If I change the part
Where ANY_ID=id to
Where ANY_ID=2 it works perfectly. Any advices? I need id to be variable as a return value from function.
This uses a locally defined function so it isn't available in the SQL but can be referenced in the PL/SQL.

You will presumably want this functionality in a package in which case you can declare the function in the package header, write the code for the function in the body and then reference it in the SQL itself. So if I declare a function (FNC_RETURN_ID) in a package called PKG_DATA_CHECKS that returns a NUMBER I can do the following;

How to run Oracle function which returns more than one value

My test function is this

When I run it like
variable mynm varchar2(20)
SELECT MULTI_VAL(:mynm) FROM dual;
it gives this error
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-06553: PLS-561: character set mismatch on value for parameter 'MYNAME'
The error you get now indicates a datatype mismatch.
However there is a fundamental problem with your code. We cannot use functions which have OUT parameters in SQL. So once you have fixed the datatype issue you will get this error: ORA-06572: Function MULTI_VAL has out arguments.
You can run it like this:

Generally, functions with OUT parameters are considered bad practice. The syntax allows them, but the usage is hard to understand. It's better to use a procedure with two OUT parameters (because we can only call the program in PL/SQL anyway) or else have the function return a user-defined type.

First of all, create a database-wide type:
create type string_tab6 is table of varchar2(6);
Then you would create your function like so:

However, I would question why you need such a function. What are you going to use it for?
In Oracle, I'd expect to see that logic embedded directly into whichever SQL statement needs that info, which you could easily do via a case statement.
First define row type. For existing database table you can use %ROWTYPE.
Then define table type.
Finally use the table type as return type of the function.

How to use session-global variables of type collection in oracle

I have a package which declares a collection of type table of some database table's %rowtype. It also declares a function to populate the package-level variable with some data. I can now print the data with dbms_output, seems fine.
But when I use the package-level variable in some sql I get the following error:
ORA-21700: object does not exist or is marked for delete
ORA-06512: at "TESTDB.SESSIONGLOBALS", line 17
ORA-06512: at line 5
Here is my code:

So can anyone tell me why the exception stated above occurs?
BTW: it is absolutely nessecary for me to execute the statement which populates the collection with data as dynamic sql because the tablename is not known at compiletime. (v_sql := 'select * from testdata';)

and my data collection is only populated once.
nevertheless it is quite not comparable with a simple
select * from testdata;
from a performace point of view but i'll try out this concept for some more complicated use cases. the goal is to avoid doing some really huge select statements involving lots of tables distributed among several schemas (english plural for schema...?).
The syntax you use does not work:
insert into testdata select * from table(SESSIONGLOBALS.v_data); -- does not work
You have to use something like that:
forall i in 1..v_data.count
INSERT INTO testdata VALUES (SESSIONGLOBALS.v_data(i).id,
SESSIONGLOBALS.v_data(i).name,
SESSIONGLOBALS.v_data(i).status);
(which actually duplicates the rows in the table)
Package-level types cannot be used in SQL. Even if your SQL is called from within a package, it still can't see that package's types.
I'm not sure how you got that error message, when I compiled the package I got this error, which gives a good hint at the problem:
PLS-00642: local collection types not allowed in SQL statements
To fix this problem, create a type and a nested table of that type:
