Make Error with Osmo Trx - installation

I am working on a project with the Beaglebone Black and ran into an issue. As part of my project, I would like to use OpenBTS to communicate over the GSM network. However, because the Beaglebone is ARM based, the Transceiver52M that ships with OpenBTS is unusable. Therefore, I need to install an ARM friendly transceiver. The transceiver that I think will do best is Osmo-Trx.
I followed the instructions on their website:
http://openbsc.osmocom.org/trac/wiki/OsmoTRX
However, when it came to making the project, got an error and am really stuck. When I do the command "make" after "./configure --with-neon", I get the error:
make: ***No rule to make target '/Makefile.common', needed by 'Makefile.in'. Stop.
Would anyone be able to help me fix this. I've search around and can't find any applicable answers. I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much in advance!
P.S. All the source code for the OsmoTRX can be found at: https://github.com/osmocom/osmo-trx

A missing Makefile is often caused by a missed/failed step in the autotools process.
My suspcion is that you either forgot to run autoreconf -i or it wasn't successfull. Try
cd osmo-trx
git clean -xdf ##Attention: clean slate afterwards!
autoreconf -i ##make sure it reports success
./configure --with-neon ## make sure it reports success
make ## make sure it reports success
sudo make install

Getting arm-buildroot-linux-uclibcgnueabihf-gcc: Command not found

I am trying to build Linux for my Raspberry Pi 3.
When I do make, I get the below error.
make[2]: /home/rohit/workplace/rp/buildroot/output/host/usr/bin/arm-buildroot-linux-uclibcgnueabihf-gcc: Command not found
A little background will help. I am following this link . To summarize this is what I ran.
make raspberrypi3_defconfig
make linux-menuconfig
make
From the error I get that the cross gcc is not available at the path as it should be. But I am not sure what I am missing.
The complete log of the make is pasted here. The output/host/usr/bin folder also doesn't contain arm-buildroot-linux-uclibcgnueabihf-gcc, though it does contain arm-buildroot-linux-uclibcgnueabi-gcc. I have pasted the contents of the folder here.
Please help.
i was having this problem and after a make clean the problem was solved. I think the error was because different toolchains used in different builds. The manual says that is one of the cases that you have to do a make clean

Why can I not make successfully ? (BBB AccessPoint problems)

I am trying to follow this guide -> http://bogeskov.dk/UsbAccessPoint.html to make my Beaglebone Black act as a Access Point.
So I got to the point where I use the following commands.
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-...
git clone https://github.com/dz0ny/rt8192cu.git
cd rt8192cumakesudo make install
Problem comes when I try and run "make". I got an error that a file named "build" was missing.
So I tried to install the kernel-headers with this url that is actually the right one for my BeagleBone OS :
https://rcn-ee.net/deb/wheezy-armhf/v3.8.13-bone47/linux-headers-3.8.13-bone47_1.0wheezy_armhf.deb
Then I ran dpkg -i linux-headers-3.8.13-bone47_1.0wheezy_armhf.deb and it looked like it finished.
So when I go back into the rt8192cu folder I tried running "make" again. So then I received a different error.
Makefile:580: /usr/src/linux-headers-3.8.13-bone47/arch/armv7l/Makefile: No such file or directory
make[1]: *** No Rule to make target ' /usr/src/linux-headers-3.8.13-bone47/arch/armv7l/Makefile '. Stop
How can I get this to make successfully ?
I just want to use my Beaglebone as a Access point
Thanks for the replies.
It turns out that if you use MAKE for this driver and you are on a BeagleBone Black you need to give it the paramter
" ARCH=arm ".
You will also have to fix the Timerx.h header. It is quite a common problem it seems.
After that it should compile fine.
My first guess is that you need to install the package linux-kbuild, that provide the necessary toolset to compile kernel modules.

XCode and gcc errors

So, I feel like my xcode/gcc/however they are supposed to work together has been broken for a while. Trying to download various technologies (most recently redis) has always ended in sadness. When I tried to make the redis I get
-bash-3.2$ make
cd src && make all
LINK redis-server
/bin/sh: gcc-4.6: command not found
make[1]: *** [redis-server] Error 127
make: *** [all] Error 2
This is the kind of error I've been gettng forever. For reference, I'm running Mac 10.7.5, my latest xcode is 4.6 and my latest gcc is 4.2. Any ideas on how I can make this work? I'd rather not upgrade my Mac OS if possible. Thanks!
I honestly don't know if this is the right way to fix this, but this issue became so problematic for me that I was willing to try anything. I noticed that I definitely had a
/usr/bin/gcc
file. And I notice that my system couldn't find the /gcc-4.6.
So.... I just did one of these numbers
sudo cp /usr/bin/gcc /usr/bin/gcc-4.6
and voila. It works now. Now I can do it all, including essential tasks like compiling any C code. So, hopefully this helps someone out.

Cygwin ratfor installation

I want to install ratfor77 on Cygwin (form the Stanford Exploration Project).
I downloaded it, untar it, attribute the good permissions to the folder ratfor77 (chmod -R u+w ratfor77).
But when I want to use the command make all I receive this error:
make: *** No rule to make target '/ratfor77', needed by 'all'. ArrĂȘt.
I verified that all the files needed were in the folder.
Any idea?
The makefile does not follow the usual conventions. Run make ratfor77. Several compiler warnings are emitted but the executable ./ratfor77 is generated.
The problem I describe was resoluted by moving the raffor folfer to the root directory of Cygwin.
I had the message above:
Done making all in util/tools/ratfor77
I'm following a documentation but it do not work :p
But I didn't have the file ratfor.exe.
So I tried your code:
make rartfor77
And no it's ok.
Thank you very much Mike.

How to learn to use make? I'm never ever able to build sources with make and makefiles

I'm new to NX OSes, actually MacOS, and when I try to build sources with make and makefiles, I never can.
I try to run make, even try to run it passing the makefile as an argument, but all I get is "There's nothing for make to do"
Can you point me to a tutorial, reference, or something ?
This one is excellent.
(You can also read some criticism to round your knowledge.)
(If after reading these, you want to try cmake, then you want to go here. It works perfectly on Mac OS X.)
Generally if you're trying to install from a tarball there will be a file named README or INSTALL with installation instructions. Usually all you have to do is run from the terminal
./configure
make
sudo make install
It's generally possible to set options for compilation by adding flags to ./configure, to see what they are run
./configure --help
Here is a tutorial to help you get started.
Just remember to use tabs instead of spaces when indenting lines in the makefile :)
