rdd.first() throwing error for SPARK running locally on Win 8.1 - windows

Dear fellas,
on my windows 8.1 machine i am testing my spark installation using IPython notebook. using the code below. I created an RDD on which I am able to run function count() but not first(). Can yu please suggest how I can troubleshoot this.

I have set the dynamic partitions for hive:
set hive.exec.dynamic.partitions = true
set hive.exec.dynamic.partitions.mode = nonstrict
I have also formated the namenode and have tried it again but the error wouldn't go of.
The root cause of the issue seems space related. I was using a query that joins several large tables, as the data is skewed, Hive began to make big temporary table, for which there was not space on the disk. I reverted the configuration files to default and compressed intermediate results (configuration files) to get the result.

What may be the reason behind this.

Scala & Spark: Dataframe.write._ on Windows

Did somebody manage to write files (and especially CSV) using Spark's DataFrame on Windows?
Many answers on SO are outdated (e.g. this one) because of Sparks native capabilities to write .CSV (and a unified write() method) since version 2.0. Also, I downloaded and added winutils.exe like proposed here.

I tried this, its working. You need to set warehouse dir configuration. That's the only thing missing from your code,also do you have write access to the directory where you are trying to write.

Exception when I use Apache spark on a large Dataset

So I get the following exception when I run some mapping and filtering on a relatively large dataset (~1 MB) using PySpark 1.4 in my local windows machine. I have tried using Apache Spark 1.6 and 2.0 and get the exact same exception.
However, if my data-set is small(~100 lines), the code works without any problem.
I have installed Apache Spark on my laptop and have decent amount of storage space and RAM. I tried increasing the memory allocation for spark but it still throws the error. Please help!

Always got "EsHadoopInvalidRequest: null" when using spark & elasticsearch-hadoop

My scenario: read data from elasticsearch then do some calculations, the final result of the calculation is stored elasticsearch.
I use a small amount of data to test is successful,But switch to big amount of data always occur this error. I am really confused
