Liquidsoap, how to pause? - playback

How do I pause and play from the previous location in Liquidsoap?
I enabled the telnet port with:
set("server.telnet", true)
set("server.telnet.port", 1234)
When I connect to the instance I can't find any commands that allows me to pause the current playlist.
The only command I see are mont.stop and mount.start but they restart the playlist from the start. What I want is for the playlist to start playing again from the same location.
Thank you.

I don't think you can actually "pause" a stream, since it always has to play something. I solve this problem by creating a special file called "silence.mp3" (without any sound or music, just silence) and playing that file, so when listeners connect to a stream - they don't see any error messages that it's down or not working, but they do not hear anything.

Recording with beep overlay in FreeSWITCH

We are experimenting with Freeswitch recording for outbound dialling. Currently stuck with two issues after reading many posts and issue lists:
Not able to play the beep tone to the receiver
If I use only the beep tone is heard for the receiving party.
If I use the beep tone is not heard to the receiving party but present in recording.
In the case of call transfer 2 recording files are generated. Is there anyway to ask freeswitch to merge them into one file?
Can RECORD_APPEND or Post Processing Recordings in the Dialplan will be an option to try out?

Connecting to an Adobe InDesign console

I have a single instance of InDesign Server running on a Windows 2007 VPS, which runs a SOAP service on port 8081. This runs as a Windows Service and runs both dev and live JSX scripts, depending on the path of the script (we have a dev folder and a live folder).
I am having trouble running a new script, so would like to get access to the console of the running service, but I am struggling to find a reference to how to do this in the Adobe PDF docs. I know the script itself being found, since there are errors in the Windows Event Viewer for a specific code line, but I think it is having trouble locating JSXBIN resources. The error message just lists the variable in question, rather than the explicit path.
I have modified the script to output path information to stdout, but this doesn't get into the Event Log. So, can I get a window on the console of the running service? I don't want to stop the current service as that is in use for live.
Some ideas I've got from the docs:
InDesignServer -console
InDesignServer -LogToApplicationEventLog
I think this executable however starts up a new instance, which isn't what I want (either it would choose a new port number, or try with 8081 and fail to start since the port is in use - I've not tried either for obvious reasons). The flags respectively display stdout in the DOS window, and redirect std out to the Event Log.
In short, I don't think this is possible. I was hesitant to start a new instance on our live server in case it upset anything, but in fact it is quite safe; just ensure that the port you specify is different to your usual one.
InDesignServer -noconsole -port 10001
The noconsole connects stdout and stderr with the current DOS window - using console opens a new one, so it's the former you want.
Aside: it may be worth avoiding LogToApplicationEventLog, since the process can get disconnected from the console, which makes it fiddly to kill in a graceful manner.

Sending automated alerts through a XMPP server via command line? (WINDOWS)

I've spent hours trying to figure out the answer to this and just continue to come up empty handed. I've setup a XMPP server through OpenFire that is fully functional. My goal with creating the server was placing an alert system for when an event is completed on my server. For example when one of my renders is finished rendering (takes hours, sometimes days), it has the option of running a command when it's finished. This command would then run a .bat file telling a theoretical program to send a message via the broadcast plugin in OpenFire to all parties involved in the render. So it needs to be able to receive parameters such as %N for name of the render and %L for the label of it.
I've located two programs that do exactly what I'm looking to do but one does not work and from the sounds of the comments may have never worked and the second one is seemingly LINUX only. The render server is Windows as is the OpenFire server so naturally it would not work. Here are the links though so you can get an idea.

http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/jaunty/man1/sendxmpp.1.html
Basically the command I want to push is identical to that of the first link.
xmppalert.exe -m "%N is complete." %L#broadcast.myserver
This would broadcast to everyone in the labels Group that the named render is complete.
If anyone has any idea how to get either of the above links working, know of another way or simply have a better idea on how to accomplish what I'm trying to do please let me know. This is something that has been eating at me for 2 days now.
Thanks.
you can take a look at PoshXMPP which allows you to use XMPP from the Powershell.

Ntp synchronization video WP7

I guys:)
I am doing an windows phone application that presents videos, but presents when syncronized with an ntp server. I already have a variable with the time but i donĀ“t know now what to do. I try search in google but i dont find anything.. I want to make an application to present the same video at the same time in different phones..
Any help? Examples?
The simplest way to get multiple devices doing something in sync is to define a time at which they should all start (do this on a central server) and then have each device request the amount of time to wait until the start. Each device should then start playback when that period has elapsed.
If you need to have different devices join in at specific ppoints when some are already playing the video your central point will need to send the point to start playing as well as the amount of time to wait until playback shoudl begin.
Due to the latency of the network communication you won't be able to get perfect sync though.

how can I make a Windows service beep?

I've got a service that acts as a watchdog for several apps/servers. There are no user sessions on this machine. I'd like the watchdog to be capable of beeping on the internal speaker should something go wrong (that'd be my queue to go fix whatever it's complaining about)
when I try the Beep() API on Windows nothing happens - I suspect the problem is that the services session isnt permitted to make noises?
can I make this work? any other ideas for how to make the service alert me?

Call CreateFile on \device\beep, then send down IOCTL_BEEP_SET (see http://www.koders.com/c/fidFEC3527B9D951559D62722A9C0C603863106CA9B.aspx for details)
It may work if you allow it to interact with the desktop (an option configurable somewhere, I can't remember where).
But personally, I'd have it email me.
Though maybe you could have it use the task scheduling API to schedule a task for yourself, so next time you log on you can see it.
I don't know; you've got a few options. I'd avoid beeping though.
Try sending beep char "\a" to console. Not sure if it will work.
Beeping doesn't seem like a good idea - it might end up driving everyone mad....
I'd also agree about the "interact with desktop" option and you set this in the services parameters see A Windows Service without a template
I'd recommend creating a simple client application that polls that server to query for any problems and returns a set of status messages. Then an appropriate UI would be raised (e.g. balloon on the tray), an email sent, etc. containing any warning or failure messages.
This way you also know that the watchdog itself is running and has network connectivity - if the watchdog dies and/or machine locks up you wouldn't otherwise know.
It also avoids being thrown out of a window when the machine starts beeping continuously just after you go to lunch. [+1 to #mikej] :-)
The poll period should be around half (see Nyquist sampling rate) your minimum required response time.
