I am using UserDetailsService in code to generate the user auth token. It works fine with correct credential but the loadUserByUsername called in continuously when UsernameNotFoundException exception is raised.

i have a problem. I made a small Application for getting in Spring Boot.
I added a File-Upload function which was working for my .jar. Now I wanted to deploy the application on a Tomcat 8 and the file upload is not working anymore.
I guess the problem is the directory of the upload folder.
This:
#GetMapping("/uploadForm")
public String listUploadedFiles(Model model) throws IOException {
model.addAttribute("files", fileSystemStorageService.loadAll().map(
path -> MvcUriComponentsBuilder.fromMethodName(FileUploadController.class,
"serveFile", path.getFileName().toString()).build().toString())
.collect(Collectors.toList()));
This seems to be the problem. In the .jar file it was possible to find the upload-dir folder.
But I dont know how to convert it to work as a .war.
Where Spring Boot needs the upload folder in the WAR?
Thank you...
Here are more informations.

How I said, it works fine with the .jar packaging but I get a 500 if I use it as a .war on a Tomcat...
I have a very small REST application written using spring boot.
I want to write a unit test for the authentication, but even if i add #MockWithUser to a test, i receive a 401 error.
The importent files are
the security configuration
#Configuration
#EnableWebSecurity
public class SecurityConfig extends WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter {
#Autowired
public void configureGlobal(AuthenticationManagerBuilder auth) throws Exception {
auth
.inMemoryAuthentication()
.withUser("user").password("password").roles("USER");
}
#Override
protected void configure(HttpSecurity http) throws Exception {
http
.csrf().disable()
.authorizeRequests()
.antMatchers("/**")
.hasRole("USER")
.anyRequest()
.permitAll()
.and()
.anonymous().disable()
.exceptionHandling()
.authenticationEntryPoint(new org.springframework.boot.autoconfigure.security.Http401AuthenticationEntryPoint("headerValue"));
}
The MainApp with a controller
#Controller
#RequestMapping("/test")
#ComponentScan
#SpringBootApplication
public class MainApp {
#RequestMapping(method= RequestMethod.GET)
public #ResponseBody String sample(){
return "Test";
}
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
SpringApplication.run(MainApp.class, args);
}
}
And finally the test (which is not working)
#RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
#SpringBootTest(classes = MainApp.class, webEnvironment = SpringBootTest.WebEnvironment.RANDOM_PORT)
public class AuthenticationTest {
#Autowired
private TestRestTemplate testRestTemplate;
#Autowired
private WebApplicationContext context;
#Autowired
private Filter springSecurityFilterChain;
private MockMvc mvc;
#LocalServerPort
private int port;
#Before
public void setup() {
mvc = MockMvcBuilders
.webAppContextSetup(context)
.addFilters(springSecurityFilterChain)
.build();
}
#Test
#WithMockUser(username="admin",roles={"USER","ADMIN"})
public void shouldReturn200WhenSendingRequestToControllerWithRoleUser() throws Exception {
then(SecurityContextHolder.getContext().getAuthentication().isAuthenticated());
mvc.perform(get("/test")).andExpect(status().isOk());
}
#Test
#WithMockUser(username="admin",roles={"USER","ADMIN"})
public void shouldAuthenticatedBeTrueWithRoleUser() throws Exception {
then(SecurityContextHolder.getContext().getAuthentication().isAuthenticated());
}
}
As you can see, there are two test cases. The second is passed, the first is not (receiving 401, not 200 as response code, stacktrace below).
Can you tell me how an can test authentication properly?

Simply using addFilters is not going to be sufficient to build the security context. Here are a couple solutions:
In your setup method replace
.addFilters(springSecurityFilterChain)
with
.apply(springSecurity())
from
org.springframework.security.test.web.servlet.setup.SecurityMockMvcConfigurers.springSecurity;
That alone should resolve the test failures. This still leaves you with a nasty looking class that can be cleaned up quite a lot with the use of WebMvcTest. Here is a more succinct version of your test, using WebMvcTest.
import org.junit.Test;
import org.junit.runner.RunWith;
import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired;
import org.springframework.boot.test.autoconfigure.web.servlet.WebMvcTest;
import org.springframework.security.test.context.support.WithMockUser;
import org.springframework.test.context.junit4.SpringRunner;
import org.springframework.test.web.servlet.MockMvc;
import static org.springframework.test.web.servlet.request.MockMvcRequestBuilders.get;
import static org.springframework.test.web.servlet.result.MockMvcResultMatchers.status;
#RunWith(SpringRunner.class)
#WebMvcTest(controllers = MainApp.class)
public class AuthenticationTest {
#Autowired
private MockMvc mockMvc;
#Test
#WithMockUser(username = "admin", roles = {"USER", "ADMIN"})
public void shouldReturn200WhenSendingRequestToControllerWithRoleUser() throws Exception {
mockMvc.perform(get("/test")).andExpect(status().isOk());
}
}
I have created a spring boot application defined like this :
#Configuration
#EnableAutoConfiguration
#ComponentScan
public class Application {
public static void main(String[] args) {
ApplicationContext ctx = SpringApplication.run(Application.class, args);
}
}
I have also created a RestController for this application with a request mapping
I have then created a specific exception :
public class MyOwnException extends Exception {
public MyOwnException (String message) {
super(message);
}
}
And then defined a class for globalling handling all of my exception
#ControllerAdvice(annotations = RestController.class)
public class MyOwnExceptionHandler extends ResponseEntityExceptionHandler {
#ExceptionHandler(MyOwnException.class)
#ResponseStatus(value = HttpStatus.NOT_FOUND, reason = "File or folder is unwrittable")
public #ResponseBody
ExceptionJSONInfo handleMyOwnException(
HttpServletRequest request, Exception ex) {
ExceptionJSONInfo response = new ExceptionJSONInfo();
response.setUrl(request.getRequestURL().toString());
response.setMessage(ex.getMessage());
return response;
}
Here is my controller code :
#RestController
#RequestMapping(value="/you/should")
public class MyOwnController {
#RequestMapping(value="/try/this", method=RequestMethod.GET, produces = "application/pdf")
public FileSystemResource processSomething(HttpServletResponse response) throws MyOwnException {
FileSystemResource afileRessource = new FileSystemResource();
if (true)
throw new MyOwnException("File not readable: " + finalFileWithEncryptedName);
return afileRessource
}
}
Unfortunately the handler is never been called instead I get following stacktrace :
2015-02-26 17:37:34.914 ERROR 6512 --- [nio-9050-exec-5] .a.c.c.C.[.[.[.p.k.p.[dispatcherServlet] : Servlet.service() for servlet [dispatcherServlet] in context with path [/myOwnContext] threw exception [Request processing failed; nested exception is MyOwnException: My onw exception message] with root cause MyOwnException: MyOwnExceptionMessage

Can anybody please help me find why my ControllerAdvise is never being called?
Try adding #EnableWebMvc annotation to your configuration class and make sure your controller advice is being scanned.
If anyone has the same problem and "adding #EnableWebMvc annotation to your configuration class" didn't solve the problem, the solution can be in correctly naming your package. If your package is wrongly named it won't be scanned and therefore exception handler will never be triggered.
More about packages here: https://www.baeldung.com/java-packages
Basically your package and directory structure should be the same...
#EnableAspectJAutoProxy
works for me,
#EnableWebMvc does not.

How to overcome this error. What is the testing approach for controller. do i need to use any other framework in order to write testcases for my controllers
Put the lazy-init="true" for tiles bean configuration as below.
class="org.springframework.web.servlet.view.tiles2.TilesConfigurer" lazy-init="true"
It depends on what you want to test. If you are just making sure that the tile view names are correct, then it is correct you don't have to use Spring Configuration. However if you want to see if a view is resolved or check model attributes, responses, etc then Spring has a MVC testing framework. It was a standalone, but it is now part of 3.2. So if you are using Spring 3 you might want to look at the tests in SpringMVC Showcase. I haven't tested it yet with Tiles, but it does have the ability to set a view resolver so it should be possible.
The problem is that you can not load a spring context with beans that requires an web container.
If you only want to test the controllers, then I recommend real Unit test, without Spring Context. That mean you need to create mocks for the classes that are required by your controller.
I am using the following to load test cases in spring boot with tiles as an example
#RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
#SpringApplicationConfiguration(classes = {MyApplication.class, TestConfigurtaion.class})
#WebAppConfiguration
public class UserRepositoryTest {
#Autowired
UserRepository userRepository;
#Test
public void testCase{
}
}
Then another class for tiles configuration
#Configuration
public class TestConfigurtaion {
#Bean
public TilesConfigurer tilesConfigurer() {
TilesConfigurer configurer = new TilesConfigurer();
configurer.setDefinitions(new String[] { "file:src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/views/tiles.xml" });
configurer.setCheckRefresh(true);
return configurer;
}
}
