I am importing a lot of CSS & JS into my app and updating the links as I go. Is there any code inspection possible that will highlight these broken links to make sure I haven't missed any and to save me going through every file?
I know in other IDE's this is a standard thing so I am guessing there should be something in VS but I can't find it.
I'm afraid that it's not possible in pure Visual Studio.
But there is one trick which you can do using ReSharper which might help you and solve your problem. Take a look below:
What is more - you can configure ReSharper to show those "Path errors" not as warning but as errors! Then you will be able to show those during compilation.
Click "ReSharper" in the Visual Studio top menu, then "Options..."
There will be search box in the left upper corner of the "Options" window
Type "Path error" and hit return
Change all of the "Warning" to "Error"
There are a number of sites/tools as listed here that will check anchor links, css links, image links, JavaScript links, etc:
W3C Link Checker
Xenu's Link Slueth
Link Checker FireFox AddOn
Dead Link Checker
I have only ever used the W3C checker which seems to work quite well.

I am developing a code completion extension. I have achieved the effect in the figure below in both VSCode and Jetbrains IDE, that is, the completion content is displayed in gray text behind the code. In VSCode, I can achieve it through the Decoration API. In Jetbrains, I can achieve it by rendering a piece of text behind the cursor through EditorCustomElementRenderer. I like this completion method very much. The well-known completion tool Copilot also uses this mode. I have checked a lot of documents, but I still can't find how to implement it in Visual Studio. I want to see how to implement this in Visual Studio, many thanks!
VSCode JetBrains
I researched related documents and tools and found that in VS2019, similar effects cannot be achieved. But Copilot achieves something similar in VS2022. Wondering which API he used? It would be even better if there is such an API in VS2019.
If there is really no related API, I would like to know if there is an API that can render a piece of text near the cursor, which can be in the form of tooltips or something else, similar to the following effect.
tootips
What I hope is that I can control through code when to display this prompt near the cursor.
To summarize my problem is as follows
1. In VS2019, is there an API for rendering a piece of text behind the cursor, similar to Decortaion API in VSCode
2. If not in VS2019, is there any in VS2022?
3. If not, is there a similar API that can display a piece of text behind the cursor? Which can be in the form of tooltips or something else.
We have a website that heavily uses Kendo controls, which makes it hard to know how the page will look after rendering. I want to use the "web live preview" extension to visual studio, however i have an issue. When the page opens, says in the bottom right corner "building tree" or something along those lines and never actually finishes. Is there a trick to get it to work with Kendo? I tried it because i got an email from them suggesting we do it.
Any ideas?
I'm guessing the message you're seeing is "Generating Logical Tree...". The extension is still in Preview, so there's several things that could be the cause of that, but we would like to work with you to try to address them. If you could file an issue on Developer Community, and include any errors messages you see from your browser's console (make sure to include Verbose messages), we can try to dig in. Also keep a look out for updated versions of the extension (it should automatically update) as we're steadily fixing bugs.
I want to open The Modify Style dialog box
Someone may know if this moved ?
I have try View->Toolbars-> and from here i cannot fine any style option
If you're talking about the Toolbars -> Style Sheet toolbar, it seems to have been removed intentionally:
Thanks for the feedback. The Stylesheet toolbar was removed because it
added little to no value with outdated wizards and dialogs. We're
looking at bringing more visual tooling back to CSS in the future, but
in a better way.

Might be worth keeping an eye on this one as well (for further verification, it may get updated):

In Visual Studio, I can collapse sections of code with arrows in the left gutter. Is there any way to do that in Dreamweaver?
Apparently Dreamweaver doesn't use code folding by default, but you should get a good idea of how to get that to work from http://forums.adobe.com/thread/226001
Just for anyone else that sees this, this is built into Dreamweaver now.
Does anyone know how to get my class name and method name dropdown lists again? It's the dropdown lists that are usually above the code. It's just a setting but i can't seem to find it. I don't want to reset my setting btw. I shouldn't have to.
Tools-->Options...
Text Editor-->All Languages
Check "Navigation Bar."
(Picture is from VS2013)
Tools - Options - Text Editor - (choose the type of file - C#, html, etc) - General
In the bottom section of the form (The "Display" area) make sure that "Navigation Bar" is checked.
Actually there is a bug in VS2013, where if you place VS on the monitor on the left side, and this is not your primary monitor, then the dropdowns will not work.
I came here searching for a solution for javascript/node.js specifically (in VS 2013). Only by doing further search I found out that this feature has been removed (from RC) due to stability/performance reasoning and is not available anymore.
https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/details/806325/javascript-navigation-bars-are-missing-after-upgrading-from-vs2013-pro-rc-to-rtm
Also, I did not see this added again through either node tools or web essentials.
In VS2015 I just had to toggle this setting off then back on again to get the navigation bar back.
If you want a list of javascript functions that works similar to the navigation bar in the VB or C# pages then search for the extension inside Tools > Extensions and Updates...
Javascript Map Parser
You have to add in aspx into the pages is parses but it's exactly what I needed to quickly find functions in a big section of Javascript I had.
Make sure you in code behind file.
In my case I was looking at code (VB) server side code inside .aspx page, and the dropdown only for code behind files (.aspx.vb or aspx.cs)
