I am trying to echo / redirect to file two or three variables and asterisk;
However, as long as I am trying to include more than only one then my variables disappears.
Loading variables from file.
var:
CMD=/home/user1/command.sh
HOUR=17
MN=00
Here is a snippet of my script:

if [ "${MN}" == "00" ];

echo "${MN} ${HOUR} * * * user1 ${CMD}" >> ./test.log
the output look like the following which does not include all variables:
* * * root /home/user1/command.sh
It seems that for some reason while loading these variables from file; these cannot be reused.
As soon as I set them manually as part of the script itself, the output is as below and correct:
0 17 * * * root /home/user1/command.sh
Any help would be appreciated,

Crontab execute that script not in /home/user1/ folder.
So you need use /home/user1/var for variable include or do
cd /home/user1/
before include file with variables.

I have a project with bash, python, and C files where I would like to simply print the contents of the bash file in the doxygen documentation.
I am using Doxygen 1.9.4 and my Doxyfile has the following modified settings:

The sh_filter file has the following contents

After running doxygen, there is nothing that appears in the file reference for the bash file that is within the working directory.
How can I get the file contents to be printed verbatim?
A bit long for a comment. The construction as requested is quite unusual as normally the purpose is to document routines / variables / classes / namespaces etc and support this with code. In this case the requirement is to just show the contents of the file.
The bests solution I found is to create the filter like:

and have the following added to the doxygen settings file:
EXTENSION_MAPPING = sh=C
INPUT = .
FILTER_PATTERNS = *.sh="./sh_filter"

(where the different paths are depending on the local situation)

However, I have not been able to find a way to change the variable name within my loop. Instead, I was trying myself and I got this error when trying to change the variable name:

One common method for maintaining a dynamically generated set of variables is via arrays.
When the variable names vary in spelling an associative array comes in handy whereby the variable 'name' acts as the array index.
In this case since the only thing changing in the variable names is a number we can use a normal (numerically indexed) array, eg:
CN=20
list=("xa1-" "xa2-" "xb1-" "xb2-")
declare -a fxp0=()
for a in "${list[#]}"
do
(( CN++ ))
fxp0[${CN}]="fxp-${a}${CN}"
done
This generates:
$ declare -p fxp0
declare -a fxp0=([21]="fxp-xa1-21" [22]="fxp-xa2-22" [23]="fxp-xb1-23" [24]="fxp-xb2-24")

As a general rule can I tell you that it's not a good idea to modify names of variables within loops.
There is, however, a way to do something like that, using the source command, as explained in this URL with some examples. It comes down to the fact that you treat a file as a piece of source code.

I have an interesting problem that I can't seem to find the answer for. I am creating a simple app that will help my dev department auto launch docker containers with NginX and config files. My problem is, for some reason I can't get the bash script to store the name of a folder, while scanning the directory. Here is an extremely simple example of what I am talking about....

I then save that simple script as folder_test.sh and put it in a folder where there is only one folder, change owner to me, and give it correct permissions. However, when I run the script I keep getting the error...
./folder_test.sh: 8 ./folder_test.sh: =test_folder/: not found
I have tried putting the $folder=$d part in different types of quotes, but nothing works. I have tried $folder="'"$d"'", $folder=`$d`, $folder="$d" but none of it works. Driving me insane, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
If you want to save your result into a named variable, what you're doing is called "indirect assignment"; it's covered in BashFAQ #6.
One way is the following:

Using namevars (only if using new versions of bash):

The culprit is the line
$folder=$d
which is treating the folder names to stored with a = sign before and tried to expand it in that name i.e. literally treats the name =test_folder/ as an executable to be run under shell but does not find a file of that name. Change it to
folder=$d
Also, bash functions' return value is only restricted to integer types and you cannot send a string to the calling function. If you wanted to send a non-zero return code to the calling function on $folder being empty you could add a line
if [ -z "$folder" ]; then return 1; else return 0; fi
(or) if you want to return a string value from the function, do not use return, just do echo of the name and use command-substitution with the function name, i.e.
getFolder() {
local __myResultFolder=$1
local folder
for d in */ ; do
folder=$d

__myResultFolder=$folder
echo "$folder"

This is something I use to monitor openstack heat stack creation. In this case I expect two conditions, an action 'CREATE' and a status 'COMPLETE' on a stack named "Somestack"
To get those variables I can do something like:

To see all commands that are being executed by the script, add the -x flag to your shabang line, and execute the command normally:

was working fine but unable to store output of command into variable.
