I made a PowerPoint presentation with PP 2011 for Mac, and went through and narrated it. After narration, I could go through the entire presentation and hear my voice. I saved the file and closed it. When I opened it later, there was still the narration icon under each slide, but no sound. I have replicated this issue with other presentations. Narrations record and work fine, until you close the file and open it again. How do I save the sound? I ran a search for any .wav files and found nothing in my entire user directory. Narration timings also seem to work correctly, just no audio.
It ended up being that the file was being saved as a ppt, not a pptx. So powerpoint would allow you to record a narration but it wouldn't save the audio.

I writing a code in vb.net. The codes will create a .rtf (wordpad file format). in that code i'm not only write text but a picture as well. the problem is windows always ask content security everytime i add a picture (fyi, picture already exist in my computer) into that file.

Just to clarify, I'm seeing the same issue. RTF created by hand by myself, new text with a few URLs, and pasted images captured by Windows screenshot grabbing app.
Dir /r was showing no alternate stream, but I still got the annoying message box every time I open the file.
Turns out the blocked content were the images, they also won't get copied to the clipboard. Tried grabbing them again, and pasting them to Paint and back to the document, and now WordPad likes them.
I discovered that Windows Photo has a pretty good basic video editor hidden in it.
My wife used it to edit a family video. Then she wanted to save the project (clips and project file, not just the final product) to USB drive.
Photo only gives you one option: Save to OneDrive. The claim is that other OneDrive devices running Photo will then be able to see the Project.
However, careful inspection of OneDrive yields no file with the title of the project and nothing that obviously looks like a video editing project file.
Does anybody know how they pulled this off and where they have hidden the project information? It can't be buried in the Registry, because that wouldn't transfer through OneDrive.
Every video clip used to create a new video, no matter what the source, is first copied to my C: SSD drive into my 'Pictures' folder.
I found the program created a new folder called 'Video Projects' in my Pictures folder.
The program does not delete these videos copied to my C: SSD drive when the program is through with them.
I must go in and manually delete the working copies of videos the program makes.

There were two reasons I was looking into this.
1) For a video project, set the duration for all the photos in a storyboard to something other than the default. (Why isn't this built in?) and;
2) On another project, reset the duration that I'd set on a bunch of photos so it could auto sync with music.
So, I looked into this a bit, and for reference the data is stored in an Sqlite database called MediaDb.v1.sqlite located by default here (replace YOURUSERNAME) C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
You can load the database using an Sqlite reader like DB Browser however you can't update it because it contains an unrecognised database collation (column character set) called NoCaseUnicode which you can about more here
There are others who are reporting similar problems trying to access this file.
I just finished a short project. I noticed an option to make a backup (click the three dots in the top right corner). That created a .vdp file. The file is 35 MB. The total size of the pictures and audio track is 30.1 MB, so it looks like it puts everything into this one .vdp file. The idea, as I understand it, is that you can take this .vdp file with you and import it into the video editor on a different computer (or same computer with new hard drive) and resume working on your video from there.
Of course relying on a proprietary file, in my opinion, is not great. You're trusting that Microsoft will continue to support the file format in the future. And as we've seen, over time, Microsoft has a habit of dropping support for popular applications that they bundle with Windows. Make sure you hang on to those original photos/videos!
My saved videos were located in c/Pictures/wallpapers/Video Projects
All of the sudden the method by apps open the "select a file" dialog stopped working. For instance if I go to https://uploadfiles.io/, clicking on it does nothing, but the drag and drop works.
This is happening for apps as well, for example I just needed to resync my Google Drive and change the folder location, clicking in "browse" to select a folder does nothing. However, going to Notepad and file > open file works.
I've been searching for a while for the method, .dll, or something that is responsible for this without success. Anyone with a similar issue or more knowledge than what I have can point me in the right direction?
I'm not a naive English speaker so I am not sure if I'm not finding anything because I am not using the right names to search for it.

I have exactly the same issue. It started somewhere between Friday and today. (Computer was shutdown for two weeks until friday night and before shutting down the problem did not exist.) I suspect some update. In addition to the mentioned issue I have trouble downloading files through Chrome. Edge and IE are downloading fine. Firefox will be installed to test this. It is consistent which apps are (not) allowed to spawn new windows. Apps in 'Program Files' seem OK while those in 'Program Files(x86)' differ. Of those in the (x86) folder OpenOffice is allowed to open a browse window, Adobe Reader is not. KeePass is allowed to open files, EventGhost is not. (changing install folder does not make a difference).
Since it is not clear how long this issue has been around I am hesitant to do a system restore. Also I believe that is a bandaid, not a solution. I am on the Fast Ring of updates.
When I try to open a PPTX file in PowerPoint 2011, I get "There was an error accessing ". This is a known good file, it opens on another mac just fine.
1) Try opening the PPTX with OpenOffice...

It seems like the powerpoint presentation requires an external resource, such as a video or picture, and that resource is missing on the mac the powerpoint file is being transferred to. Try to put all the files from your presentation in a single folder and copy the folder to the other computer.
I am trying to open a locked excel sheet. The warning says it is locked because it is being used by "AN Other".
This person does not have the sheet open, does not have any excel applications open, does not have any excel based tasks running in the task list and has tried the good old "turning it off and on again".
Neither of us can save onto this filename, change it in windows explorer or delete the file.
We have "saved as" another name but really need the original name. I looked at a few forums and they suggest this is an excel/windows bug.
Am using excel 2010 and Windows 7.
You need to get in touch with your IT support.
In a company network, a file will be locked for other users when somebody edits it. It can happen sometimes that the file does not get released (unlocked) when the user closes it. Your IT Support people need to unlock the file, so you can edit it again.
