Can not install the app on Windows - windows

While it builds fine (there are warnings, but no errors), I cannot install a Cordova app on Windows (Windows 10) and the other dev of the project tried to do it and ran into the exact same error messages. Now, I tried googling for info, but I couldn't find anything of use, so I'm posting here.

I've tried rebuilding/rerunning multiple times and at one point I actually did find an older version of the app installed (in Start -> All Apps) and I uninstalled it manually (Right Click -> Uninstall), but it doesn't look like it helped or did anything.

AWS SDK in Visual Studio always exits with a message of saying that it didn't raise a CoreCLR started event [duplicate]

I've been working with AWS lambdas for a few months. I was working with a lambda and it was fine at the end of the day. I came back to work on it the next day, and I can't get Visual Studio to even start the application using the Mock Lambda Test Tool.
I ended up creating an empty lambda that just returns the input (the standard project code that AWS gives you as a template) and that won't even run. I hit the play button to star the Mock Lambda Test Tool, it looks like it will run for a couple seconds, then it closes down. The command window does not even pop up.
This is the code from the template project.

I have tried re-installing the AWS toolkit, and also tried re-installing Visual Studio. This is an issue with VS 2017 and VS 2019. I just installed 2019 to see if that would fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.
I came to this question having the very same issue. After installing AWS Toolkit I found that the lambda test tool was not installed and therefore I got the same error just as the OP. The only difference is that I was targeting .Net Core 3.1 and therefore I needed amazon.lambda.testool-3.1. However this answer should work for both scenarios.
Unfortunately I did not have the same luck as the OP of having a nice co-worker that could give me the files I needed. So, if this is also your case please continue reading.
In the official project site, which can be found here, there are the instructions to install the tools. It also says that installing the latest version of AWS Toolkit should be enough to have the tools installed (it was not in my case and probably in yours).
It says that in order to install the tools you should run the following commands:
dotnet tool install -g Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-3.1
or
dotnet tool install -g Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-2.1
depending on which tool you need.
However, running these commands fails with the following message:
The tool package could not be restored.
Tool 'amazon.lambda.testtool-2.1' failed to install. This failure may have been caused by:
* You are attempting to install a preview release and did not use the --version option to specify the version.
* A package by this name was found, but it was not a .NET Core tool.
* The required NuGet feed cannot be accessed, perhaps because of an Internet connection problem.
* You mistyped the name of the tool.

And since the project is still in preview I just had to find the latest stable version in order to specify it in the command. For .net core 3.1 here is the nuget site, there I found version 0.10 to be the latest, so the command should look like:
dotnet tool install -g --version 0.10 Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-3.1
I have faced the same issue and when i tried to install dotnet-lambda-test-tool-3.1.exe using command prompt I got this issue:
Failed to create shell shim for tool 'amazon.lambda.testtool-3.1': Command 'dotnet-lambda-test-tool-3.1' conflicts with an existing command from another tool.
Tool 'amazon.lambda.testtool-3.1' failed to install.
And I did the following to fix issue
Deleted the dotnet-lamda-test-tool-3.1.exe from the installed folder (C:\Users%USERNAME%.dotnet\tools\dotnet-lambda-test-tool-3.1.exe)
Run dotnet tool install -g --version 0.10 Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-3.1 on cmd.
I have faced the same issue and got errors like "dotnet-lamda-test-tool-2.1.exe has exited with code.."
I did the following to fix the issue
Removed the dotnet-lamda-test-tool-2.1.exe from the installed folder
(C:\Users%USERNAME%.dotnet\tools\dotnet-lambda-test-tool-2.1.exe)
Removed the [amazon.lambda.testtool-2.1] folder as well
(C:\Users%USERNAME%.dotnet\tools\tools.store\amazon.lambda.testtool-2.1)
Installed dotnet tool from Developer command prompt using the command
[install -g Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-2.1]
Run the project. It is working
I have seen this issue many time on my system with dotnet-lambda-test-tool-6.0. Only one fix work for me
Remove dotnet-lambda-test-tool-6.0.exe from C:\Users\username.dotnet\tools
Open Command prompt from C:\Users\username.dotnet\tools
run command dotnet tool install -g Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-6.0
For anyone else that hits this same issue, it had to do with the the AWS toolkit install. I did not modify it, but somehow it was no longer working. I tried un-installing and re-installing, but it was still having issues running it. A co-worker sent me the exe and subdirectory that was setup on his machine under C:\Users\%user%.dotnet\tools. The exe is located in this directory, and there is another folder under .store for amazon.lambda.testtool-2.1. That directory had different folders and files than what I was able to install. So I copied in what he had and it worked. There might be a profile file associated to the tools install that points to these folders and files that might need to be modified. Since I was able to fix it with this, I didnt look any further into that.
I had the same issue with my .NET 6.0 lambda project. I installed the tool by executing dotnet tool install --global Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-6.0 --version 0.12.6 as suggested on https://www.nuget.org/packages/Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-6.0
Just ensure it is installed at %USERPROFILE%\.dotnet\tools\dotnet-lambda-test-tool-6.0.exe

Then checked the folder having multiple version of lambda-test-tool in path
C:\Users{username}.dotnet\tools
I removed all the lambda-test-tool and installed the required tool only with version 3.1 by command in developer command prompt:
dotnet tool install -g --version 0.10 Amazon.Lambda.TestTool-3.1
Then I can able to debug the lambda

Visual Studio Setup Project: Failed to execute script after installing app and opening it

So I finished an app, made an .exe, and the original .exe works, but when I try to install the app, the .exe and shortcuts to the .exe don't work. I get this error message: Failed to execute script (app name)
Is there a solution to this or should I make the installer another way or on another computer? In the meantime, I'll try to look into other options.
So I switched to Inno Setup and the first time I built the installer it worked. But after building again, the same error occurred. I eventually tried running the app as admin and it worked, so to fix the issue, I added something in the registry to make the app run as admin by default. This is how you do that.

Flutter App stuck at "Running Gradle task 'assembleDebug'... "

When I run the app it get stuck

(This is taking an unexpectedly long time.)
It never initialize Gradle nor the dependencies
Here is solution in my case.
Open your flutter Project directory.
Change directory to android directory in your flutter project directory cd android
clean gradle ./gradlew clean
Build gradle ./gradlew build or you can combine both commands with just ./gradlew clean build
Now run your flutter project. If you use vscode, press F5. First time gradle running assembleDebug will take time.
PS: Delete gradle in case of all that steps don't work
flutter run -v showed that I was stuck on
Downloading https://services.gradle.org/distributions/gradle-5.6.2-all.zip
This was going to take hours, as for some reason the download speed was ~10kB/s on a decent DSL connection.
Solution:
Interrupt gradle build
Download the required gradle zip from a fast mirror. e.g. https://distfiles.macports.org/gradle/gradle-5.6.2-all.zip
Copy gradle-5.6.2-all.zip to C:\Users\ <MyUsername>\.gradle\wrapper\dists\gradle-5.6.2-all\9st6wgf78h16so49nn74lgtbb (of course the last folder will have a different name on your PC)
flutter run and voilà.
In my case, Windows Firewall was causing this problem. After I disabled it temporarily the problem was gone. Worth giving it a try. Good luck!
If you are on Windows:
try adding firewall exceptions to your Android Studio.
Go to:
Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Defender Firewall\Allowed apps
Hit the button:
Allow another app
Add your new firewall exceptions:
studio.exe and studio64.exe

If Running Gradle task assembledebug is taking unexpectedly long time,
try updating Gradle in your project. (Downloading latest zip file)
You can follow steps in this answer.
Or try by:
Open a project in Android Studio
Right-click on android in Projects Panel
Go down to Flutter and click on the 'Open Android module in Android Studio'.

This should open the project as an Android Project.
Now, click on 'gradle' in the right panel.
Next, click on 'Execute Gradle Task' icon
This should open a 'Run Anything' window.
Now, Run the command gradlew clean
and, then run gradlew build
If prompted by Android Studio to 'Update Gradle Plugin', do that.
The update would download the required .zip files.
And, your apps should work fine after that.
I am using VS Code on Ubuntu 18.04
For me it was a background download of the appropriate android sdk build tools for my connected device. Running flutter run -v showed that it was downloading android SDK build tools which usually take some time. Once it was done, the flutter app compiled and ran successfully.
Solution
Ensure you have installed android sdk tools and added them to the environment path.
I assume you have downloaded android sdk tools.
Ensure you have installed gradle and added it to the path
Ensure you have installed latest dart and flutter sdks

For me what worked was clean wipe the emulator data by AVD Manager
There were two reasons for me on Archlinux:
I needed to unset TERM which was set to xterm-256color (reference).
For some reason, flutter stable was not working for me; so I switched to master with: flutter channel master && flutter upgrade. I'll be able to switch back to flutter stable when the fix in master makes its way into stable (reference).
This worked for me.I got an issue with license acceptance.
First you need to go through the flutter directory and then run the command
C:\Users\thrishool\flutterProjects\flutter>flutter doctor
Then it will display if everything is fine or not.I got an issue that, I didnot accept all the licenses.So you need to accept them all.Now type this in cmd
C:\Users\thrishool\flutterProjects\flutter>flutter doctor --android-licenses
Accept all the licenses and you are good to go.
For me simply the process took too much time. It kept running for about 10 mins and finally the app started running.
This problem occurred on my system because of the Zen Kernel.
I installed the Linux-LTS kernel and started system using this.
Then my project backed to compile again.
I used the command "flutter clean" in my project and it returned to work perfectly, please try.

This is likely one of number of issues and some of the recommended troubleshooting can be found here.
Check that you are building against an Android sdk that you have
installed... in your build.gradle file check the compileSdkVersion.
You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the relevant SDK.
Some users have reported that they had to resintall Dart.
Without a little more information basic troubleshooting is the best we can offer sorry.

For creating an apk for Android in Flutter this issue sometimes happens. I had the luck of facing this issue as well. Here are the few ways it can be solved:
1. Due to androidX

I was doing the second option the whole time which got me stuck in that running graddle loop. I fixed my problem with the first option.
Had the same issue because of the wrong compileSdkVersion in the build.gradle file.
Working fine now.
In my case I forgot to download Google Web Driver.
It’s running once I downloaded Google Web Driver.
It is taking time on windows 10 as the Android studio needs firewall permission to connect to the device(AVD).
There can be another reason that you don't have downloaded full Android SDK on your machine.
To check the issue simply run the command on your terminal/cmd/PowerShell command tool.
flutter doctorflutter doctor
check if SDK is installed or not.
Try to install and accept license using the following command
flutter doctor --android-licenses
If this doesn't resolve your problem then go to android studio and Open your Android Studio,
File-> settings->System settings(left tab) ->Android SDK

Occurs with import of Firestore.
In my case the Android Gradle Plugin Version was not updated to any version at all. So i updated it by right clicking on my project folder, clicked "Open Module Settings" and updated gradle plugin version accordingly.
In my case, I need to update Android SDK built-tools.
Open in Android studio Tools->SDK Manager-SDK tools.
Mark Android SDK Built-Tools, press Apply, wait for the update.
After updated, press Apply and try to run.
I fixed the issue by switching off my antivirus while running my project in the terminal
To run your project in a terminal simply type --> flutter run
This worked for me:
C:\Users<user>\AndroidStudioProjects<flutter_app>\android> gradlew clean
C:\Users<user>\AndroidStudioProjects<flutter_app>\android> gradlew build
Now run it, for initial build
“Running Gradle task 'assembleDebug'… ”

See what SDK platform it's asking you. like SDK API 28, 29, or 30.
Then goto SDK manager and install the required SDK API. Then restart android studio.

The same problem occurred on my mac in Android Studio 4.1, unfortunately, I forgot to install Java on my machine, try installing Java.
nothing was working for me
I do update the flutter SDK & update all the dependencies to the latest version. after that, I open the android module as a project in android studio. It downloads some files. after completion, I do clean the project using Build->clean Project & update the Gradle version.
After that, I again open the flutter project and run the app. It's working now.... :)
This might also be due to developers permission, if you will be using any package which requires devices permission lets say url_launcher and you haven't given permission for that it wont run. Solution for windows is that just run ms-settings:developers this in your command prompt/ powershell and enable for developers option and then it will work fine.
and if that doesnt also works then just run flutter clean and flutter create . it will work.

After many attempts, nothing they recommended worked for me.
My problem was that I had * .dart files with many lines of code to perform SQL create and insert operations initially in SQLite, I removed those 4072 lines of operations, the file was reduced in size and I no longer had to compile a very code file long, instead, I preloaded the database into assets, and it worked flawlessly! ..
The message that the operation is taking a long time no longer appears, I hope it serves you.

I solved the issue by reinstalling SDK Platform on Android studio for Android API 29
Tools->SDK Manager-SDK Platform
Next go to
Android > app > build.gradle
Make sure you also change
compileSdkVersion 29

Be patient, it take longer for the first launch...But, not take forever like before.

Launch VSCode from source through WSL

I would like to build/launch the VSCode source code in the native Bash for Windows client. I have followed the steps outlined in the VSCode wiki on how to contribute, and everything is working as expected (All commands have been run on the WSL terminal following the Linux instructions)
After running yarn run watch, I try to launch VSCode by running DISPLAY=:0 ./scripts/code.sh from the source code directory, but nothing happens. I get two duplicate warnings:
[21496:1128/120229.392130:WARNING:audio_manager.cc(295)] Multiple instances of AudioManager detected
but I'm not sure if this is causing the problem. I have an X Server client running, and have used to to successfully launch native Windows applications through WSL (terminator, emacs, etc.)
Is what I'm trying to do possible? If so, how can I make it work?
Amazing that you asked this! I was attempting to do the exact same thing at (it seems) the exact same time. Here's my process.
Install XMing
Install the xfree apps
Set DISPLAY=:0
Run xeyes ==> Awesome googly eyes!
Attempt to build vscode from source. The build docs seem to be incomplete b/c I had to install a ton of libraries beyond those listed e.g.

Looking at ps I see that the process was running.
Conjectures
It seems that building from source from WSL is not yet supported. Or maybe you can build the artifact, but you can't connect to the Windows display to show it. Based on the quality of the xeyes session, it looks like a very, very, very primitive experience e.g. still using WinXP-style minimize / maximize / close icons.
I was literally writing an Issue on their github page when I thought I'd do one last search and found this post. Much of vscode treats WSL as a second-class environment on Windows. Recent work seems to suggest that things are going to get better as driving to integration between Windows' two internal environments continues to improve (e.g. https://github.com/Microsoft/vscode/issues/39144)

Based on some pursuit via Github, it seems that this issue has been reported to the WSL team: https://github.com/Microsoft/WSL/issues/2293. It appears to be under active consideration by the WSL team. I've added some commentary about my use case there.

Error: "Could not find build tools necessary to build stringi" when trying devtools::install_github()

Trying
devtools::install_github("Rexamine/stringi")
and getting error:

I see several people have had this error but the solutions haven't worked for me. I reinstalled xcode because the command line tools seemed to be the problem for other people. Checked the paths for R and RStudio, I can open both fine (from the terminal as well). Don't think this is an Rtools issue but I can't figure out where the problem is. Has anyone had any luck with this particular devtools error?
Running OSX 10.11.6, RStudio Version 0.99.896, R 3.2.1 GUI 1.66 Mavericks build (6956), XCode Version 7.3.1 (7D1014).
You can try running
/usr/bin/clang --version
If command line tools are installed, this should just report the version of clang installed; otherwise, you'll be prompted to install Xcode + Command Line Tools. (This is just a simple way of ensuring command line tools indeed are installed)
If you run
devtools::install_github("Rexamine/stringi")
in a plain R console, outside of RStudio, what do you see? Can you update your post with the errors (if any) printed to the console?
You might also try updating RStudio to the preview release (https://www.rstudio.com/products/rstudio/download/preview/) to see if that helps.
It seems like this is likely a bug in RStudio's build tools detection; you might try explicitly disabling it with:
options(buildtools.check = function(action) TRUE)
This should ensure that devtools doesn't try to call RStudio's build tools detection code and just assume that everything is available.
