I've just finished writing a plugin for crm online, and am now running into a curious problem.
When I run the plugin through the debugger I get the expected results, but when I let the plugin run on its own it fails to run as expected.
In this plugin, I'm listening to the create event for new queueitems and I'm checking to see if the queueitm is an email. Everything up to this point is running as expected, however when after getting an email I check to see if the email has an attachment and here's when things start deviating. Through the debugger I can see the attachment file, but on its own, the plugin can't find the attachment. This is very odd to me because I can see the email in the queue and there's definitely an attachment there.
What would cause this to happen, why does it happen and is this a common problem?
Bit of guess.
There is a timing issue, when you debug and that timing issue isn't apparent because you have artificially slowed the application down.
I'm guessing your plugin is sync, and things are happening like this.
In Execution
Email created.
Thread starts to add attachment to email.
Your plugin runs, and finds no attachment.
Thread adds attachment and finishes.
In Debugging
Email created.
Thread starts to add attachment to email.
Your plugin runs, and goes to breakpoint.
Thread adds attachment and finishes.
You inspect the property and find the attachment.
Given that the email and email attachment are separate database tables this seems like a good shout, CRM may be making the two create calls separately.
Ways to test this theory
Make your plugin async.
Add a Thread.Sleep into your code (no more than 2 minutes, a minute should be fine).
Find another place or step to register your plugin.
Stick a plugin on the email attachment create which throws an exception to see what order things happen in.
If my theory turns out to be true, the best resolution is to probably find another way to register your plugin.

Client company just upgraded to 2016 from 2011. I've been testing the plugins to make sure they all still function and I've finally (after much frustration) figured out what is happening, but no idea why or how to resolve this.
I have several plugins and they all function exactly as expected - as long as the updates to the data are not run through the forms.
Let me explain:
I have plugins (Synchronous) that trigger on a change to a field. If the field is changed via a workflow, or some other coded process, everything runs just fine.
But when I update the field on the form it's self. It fails with a very generic error (below).
I support a couple of other clients already on 2016, and I'm not experiencing this same problem. So I'm not even sure where to begin. I've been going crazy here the last couple of days to check the code. But it only happens when updating the field on the form. Every other method of updating the data that I have tested works with no errors.
I also have another issue. When the field is updated (through a test workflow), it runs and updates a child record. The child record then has a workflow that runs to deactivate the record. The workflow says it ran and deactivated the record, but it never deactivates).
Anyway. if ANYONE has ANY idea at all about what could be causing this. I would love to hear it. I'm at my wits end on this.

I've tested the code and had it run successfully, as long as I don't update the field through the form. To test this I created some test workflows that update the data, they successfully run and the plugins fire off with no problems.

The code is pretty straightforward in most cases, and works fine as long as things aren't updated on the form.

New information. I have found that not all the plugins I've written have an issue on this server. This is good. But I also found that there is a commonality on those plugins that do fail.
Any plugin using a Query Expression fails with the generic error. Adding robust error checking didn't show anything (once error checking was added, it just didn't run anything, and didn't produce any errors in the logs). Trace logs didn't show anything significant either.
So now I'm wondering if there is something in the way the Query Expression is formatted, or if there is an issue with the SQL. I mention SQL because I found this morning that if I create fields too fast, I get a generic SQL error. Wait a minute and I can create new fields without a problem.
I think it likely that this plugin is not actually failing based on the error you are receiving and the fact that it happens conditionally. More likely, your server.Update(a); call is resulting in a failure within a secondary plugin or workflow action triggered by update of the Recertification record.
- Comment out that line and verify that the plugin works
- See if you can reproduce a failure by directly updating that field on the Recertification record
- Review plugin/workflows running against the Recertification entity
Most likely this has one of the following root causes:
- A security issue based on different executing users between the form update or workflow update
- Other tangential fields are being updated by one or the other of those two methods which subsequently cause different behavior in a secondary plugin/workflow
I'm new to cypress and I want to create tests for a rather oldfashioned website which is unfortunatelly not available on the internet.
When I perform a simple call to the website cypress crashes:

The message I get within the chromium instance is: "Whoops, there is no test to run. Choose a test to run from the desktop application."
Shortly before I get this message, I see some messages in red in the left chromium task-runner-pannel (sorry for not knowing the correct term). But the timespan is too short to read it.
So my questions are, any ideas why cypress is crashing? I know this may gonna be a tough one since the website is not accessable.
Can I find these "red-messages" somewhere else? eg a logfile?

I have a Jmeter script for an application for which i get pop up error message intermittently. Where as in jmeter we only come to know that flow got terminated by some failure.But we wont come to know the occurrence of Error pop -up message.
My requirement is if we encounter pop up error i want to write to an external file saying that ,the current page got failed due to pop-up error message.
If we can write the error message it's really great. I'm as of now not getting idea to achieve this.
Please can anyone help me in this. or can provide any hint to do R&D.

As per JMeter project main page:
JMeter is not a browser, it works at protocol level. As far as web-services and remote services are concerned, JMeter looks like a browser (or rather, multiple browsers); however JMeter does not perform all the actions supported by browsers. In particular, JMeter does not execute the Javascript found in HTML pages. Nor does it render the HTML pages as a browser does (it's possible to view the response as HTML etc., but the timings are not included in any samples, and only one sample in one thread is ever displayed at a time).
Looking into your screenshot, it is a form of JavaScript popup, most likely window.alert so there is no way to detect it via JMeter.
You can add i.e. Response Assertion to your test in order to introduce some pass/fail criteria, i.e. if you were in the middle of some transaction when the error occurred it should not finish successfully resulting in missing expected entry in the web page (or database), so you can conditionally fail relevant sampler(s) in this case. See How to Use JMeter Assertions in Three Easy Steps to learn more about the concept.
Alternatively you can use WebDriver Sampler plugin which provides JMeter integration with Selenium browser automation framework which drives a real browser, so you will be able to capture this popups and record the page titles/take screenshots, check out IsAlertPresent() class for more information.

I'm trying to use sw-precache, but I must be doing something wrong!
I'm mostly using the demo code available from the github repo and can't seem to get updates to the app to come through. Once it's cached the first time, it never checks for new versions.
I was expecting that when I publish a new service worker, the browser would request the new service worker and update the cache accordingly in the background. Then using the registration code in the example, I would be able to prompt the user to refresh and get the latest version from their newly refreshed cache.
Would really appreciate if someone could please point me in the right direction.

The example uses a basic skeleton from create-react-app which has a built in build task which take care of fingerprinting the filenames, etc.
I suspect the problem is with me caching everything by using the following sw-precache config:

Rebuild (run the build task and sw-precache)
This is where my understanding must be wrong
Reload the page
The service worker should update the cache in the background
When its done, you should see New or updated content is available. in the console
The actual visible changes should not be visible until the next reload
Reload the page again
The browser will use the new cache this time around
The changes should be visible now!
There shouldn't be any messages in the console
The problem
Once the app has been cached initially, it will never update unless you unregister the service worker or force a reload.
I'm not sure how to make this work - any help would be greatly appreciated!
After replicating your development hosting environment, I can see that you're serving your service-worker.js file with a browser HTTP cache lifetime of one hour:
There's more information as to why this is leading to the behavior you're seeing, along with best practices, in this previous answer. As mentioned at the top of that answer, browsers plan on changing their behavior to stop honoring the HTTP cache for the service worker file by default, mainly due to the type of confusion that you're experiencing here. For the time being, though, the production versions of both Chrome and Firefox continue to honor those headers.
I have problem with launching Google-Cast application similar to sample CastHelloText-chrome. I slightly modified example code for my specific purposes. The goal for creating this application is to send and show image data directly in Chromecast device.
Particularly the difference between official sample and my code is in message format and its content, sent by sender application. Sender application took png image coded by base64 and send through message bus with custom namespace. Receiver application get this message and use this as data source for html object <img>.
Error appears when I do this steps:
Reload sender page, checking console if any device found.
Send the form by just pushing enter on input box (text is ignored).
Now a popup from Chromecast extension shows. Next there are two scenarios:
3a) I confirm casting to device by choosing one from the list, then I get this error message in console:

3b) I just click somewhere else, I get this error:
onError: {"code":"cancel","description":"User closed popup menu","details":null}
Both of errors are caused by calling function chrome.cast.requestSession in chromehellotext.html at line 161, but what's really wrong I don't know.
When I step sender script I realize that function sessionListener is never called. I know that something go wrong when code try to call chrome.cast.requestSession, where described error raises. So I need help if I missed about right way to use Google-Cast API or If this problem has something to do with networking issues.
Receiver application is registered on Google Cast SDK Developer Console and I'm testing on registered device with some serial number. I'm using Google Chrome in version 42.0.2300.2 canary (64-bit) and Chrome version 40.0.2214.111 (current stable I suppose). For testing I also tried to turn off Windows Firewall entirely but with no luck.

There were some syntactic errors that caused error message described above.
It seems like you are trying to use the data/control channel to send an image; please don't do that; that channel is not meant to be used for large data communications; in fact it cannot send anything which approaches or exceeds 64k. If your goal is to send images from your local machine, you would need to run a local web server on your local machine and serve images through the web server.

I found a source of my problem. There was something wrong in receiver code - syntactic and runtime errors, so I must admit that my code wasn't functional. Now its working in terms of launching application and getting session.
Unfortunate thing is that the error message generated by Chromecast extension didn't match the actual error - at least it was a bit confusing when I didn't know what's really happening on receiver side without ability to debug the code.
