Web essentials not showing typescript preview - visual-studio

I must be missing something really basic. I'm playing with Typescript. Based on this link: http://vswebessentials.com/features/typescript I thought that Web Essentials should be giving me a split-pane window so that I could observe the javascript that is being generated for me.
I have my typescript file, but no joy from Web Essentials. Should the preview pane show up automatically, or is there something I need to do? (I explored all of the Web Essentials menus, and the link above doesn't say anything about activating the feature.
Setup:
Visual Studio 2015 w/ Update 1
TypeScript for Visual Studio installed (version 1.7.6.0 (latest as of
today))
Web Essentials 2015.1

The TypeScript preview pane has been removed from Web Essentials 2015 due to continuously running into conflicts with the TS compiler when new versions come out.
This is a known issue and hopefully the typescript team will add the feature into the TS tooling in the future.

typescript Web page development in Visual Studio 2017

I am trying to set up a project in Visual Studio 2017 that does what I am already doing in Visual Studio Code.
I have is a typescript Web page which uses THREE for WebGL so it is client intensive. It needs to interface to a custom Web server running on localhost. For Visual Studio Code I open the Web site, set up the source maps and I can set breakpoints in the typescript for the Chrome debugger inside Visual Studio Code. A true IDE for typescript.
Here is what I have tried with Visual Studio 2017:
1- Open a Web Site. This is the same Web site that works in Visual Studio Code. I cannot get the typescript to build.
2- Create node.js typescript project. Typescript builds but I cannot connect to any Web server and see my code. I can only start up server.ts. In theory I can build a Web server in node.js but I need to connect to my custom Web server.
3- Set up a C# ASP project. I can build typescript and set breakpoints but the breakpoints are not hit.
The third option was recommended as a way to get typescript to compile but it builds C# DLL’s and doesn’t seem logical. I don’t remember whether I could attach to my custom Web server or not. This was in response to the disappearance of the typescript Web page from the templates on VS2017.
Visual Studio Code has its advantages but it is brittle. The breakpoints stop working sometimes and now I can’t get source maps to work. In theory this should all work perfectly on Visual Studio 2017 right?

Show SVG Preview Pane in Microsoft Visual Studio 2015

I'm using Visual Studio 2015 with Web Essentials 2015 on it, and I used to get a preview pane any time I highlighted a SVG in the solution explorer. For whatever reasons for the past week it doesn't seem to do that anymore.
I've already gone into Tools > Options > Web Essentials > General and set Show preview pane to true. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Web Essentials, but still no dice.
Any idea how to get the SVG preview pane back? Or is this somehow tied to the typescript preview pane being removed thanks to the most recent Visual Studio update?
According to an issue on github this is fixed in the latest build.
Download and install the latest build from here.
After much searching, it would appear this is no longer available. I have not found a worthwhile replacement, either.

Visual Studio thinks `Microsoft Web Developer Tools` is installed

Symptoms
Visual Studio syntax highlighter and Intellisense for Javascript and Razor views are not working.
There is no Web templates installed when creating a new project.
When I try to uninstall the web developer feature:
Add or remove Programs > Microsoft Visual Studio Professional 2015 > Modify
Microsoft Web Developer Tools is always checked. Even when I uncheck it and uninstall it, then restart the computer; the next time I still see it's checked:
What I did to solve this:
Running devenv.exe \resetuserdata Command to reset the user data.
Running devenv.exe \installtemplates to install the templates.
Repairing the Visual Studio.
Trying to uninstall and re-install the Web Developer Tools feature through the Visual Studio installer.
None have worked so far.
What I guess
I think Visual Studio thinks this feature is installed (through some registry keys probably) but the files are actually not installed.
Because whenever I try to Modify the installation of Visual Studio, the Microsof Web Developer Tools check box is not checked for the first second, then it is checked again after 1 second.
Question
Any suggestion on fixing this without uninstalling Visual Studio itself?
I was having the same problem and this is what worked for me:
Uninstall ASP.NET Web Tools from Control Panel
Download and install "Microsoft ASP.NET and Web Tools" extension from: https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/c94a02e9-f2e9-4bad-a952-a63a967e3935
Try this (in order):
Find Microsoft ASP.NET 5 RC1 ... in control panel / programs &
select modify
Select repair
Run devenv.exe /installvstemplates as administrator
Run VS as administrator
I had the same problem with Visual Studio 2015. I tried several things, but simply updating Microsoft ASP.NET seemed to do the trick.
Install ASP.NET 5 RC1, restart, and the issue should be resolved.
I didn't know I had this problem until I opened an MVC project with Razor views and didn't have syntax highlighter and Intellisense. I was lucky to read your question because the symptoms are the same and so is the conclusion. And unfortunately none of the answers solves the problem. But it did help me to find the answer, or what worked for me.
What did the trick was installing .NET Core 1.0.0 (DotNetCore.1.0.0.RC2-Runtime-x64 and DotNetCore.1.0.0.RC2-VS2015Tools.Preview1). I am pretty sure that this is enough to solve the issue. But since I tried all kinds of things, it is possible that another action is required. In that case, continue reading below the images.
When I start a new project this opens the following dialog:
Selecting ASP.NET Web Application (.NET Framework) opens the dialog with the projects I was looking for.
The syntax highlighter and Intellisense are also working for Razor views.
I do not know what caused the problem in the first place. Is the installation incomplete, is there a conflict with other software or did I do something that caused this?
Visual Studio 2012 is installed on my machine as well. I installed and uninstalled VS2015 (pro and community version) and then installed vs2015 Community on multiple volumes. On uninstalling I did use /Force and removed several folders manually.
Microsoft ASP.NET 5 RC Update 1 is also installed, but repairing this did not solve the issue. Also installing Asp.Net Web Framework tools 2015 didn't change anything. I copied templates to all template folders I could find (perhaps an issue with installing on multiple volumes?), ran devenv.exe with different parameters and deleted the '14' folder in my profile. None of this worked. Finally I installed .NET Core 1.0.0.

How do I enable the preview panel for TypeScript files in Visual Studio 2015?

I miss the feature that would show you the results of your TypeScript compile in a separate panel. I haven't found a way to turn that back on in Visual Studio 2015 with TypeScript 1.5 beta.
I have WebEssentials for 2015 installed as well as ReSharper 9.1.
Anyone have any luck with this?
This has been removed from Web Essentials 2015 in VS 2015RC.

The TS preview pane has been removed from Web Essentials 2015 due to continuously running into conflicts with the TS compiler when new versions come out. The TS team are aware of it and I hope they will add the feature into the TS tooling in the future. It is possible that this feature will be included in the brand new Web Compiler extensions (https://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microsoft.com/3b329021-cd7a-4a01-86fc-714c2d05bb6c) when preview panes have been implemented.
Alternatively, you can hit the "Show All Files" Button in the Solution Explorer to find your .js file and then hit Alt+W, V to get a vertical split window and open the .js file right next to your .ts file.
This issue still exists as of 2015-07-30 using the officially released version of Visual Studio 2015 Enterprise Edition plus Web Essentials 2015 version 0.5.1.
None of the previous suggestions work.
Mads needs to fix this and release a new version.
P.S. This issue does not happen with VS 2013 Update 4 and the latest Web Essentials 2013.

TypeScript 1.4 with VS 2013 Update 4 intellisense not working

I have:
Visual Studio 2013 pro Update 4
Web Essentials 2.5.2
TypeScript 1.4
Resharper 8.2.3
When I open a typescript file, syntax highlighting works fine, also tooltip on the function shows its definition. However, intellisense is not working (when I press a . near an object, it does not show properties or methods).
This is just a test project of type TypeScript Web Project. I tried to google but unable to find a solution yet. Any ideas what I should be looking for?
After many trial and error I could fix it by:
Removing 10.0 folder in %APPDATA%/microsoft/microsoft visual studio
Disabling intellisense for typescript in Resharper
Uninstalling Web Essentials from visual studio 2013
Uninstalling TypeScript 1.4
Reinstalling TypeScript
Reinstalling Web Essentials
Setting back Resharper settings
Only thing I can think is that it may have something to do with the order of installation of web essentials and typescript.
