I am configuring Jersey 2.25.1 to run on Jetty 9.4.4 server without an Application subclass. Jetty supports Servlet API 3.1 so I configure my application for this environment exactly as the documentation said, thus my web.xml is
<web-app version="3.0"
xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/javaee"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<!-- Servlet declaration can be omitted in which case
it would be automatically added by Jersey -->
<servlet>
<servlet-name>javax.ws.rs.core.Application</servlet-name>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>javax.ws.rs.core.Application</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
</web-app>
and pom.xml besides other contains the following Jersey related dependencies
<dependency>
<groupId>org.glassfish.jersey.containers</groupId>
<artifactId>jersey-container-servlet</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.glassfish.jersey.media</groupId>
<artifactId>jersey-media-moxy</artifactId>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>org.glassfish.jersey.ext</groupId>
<artifactId>jersey-spring3</artifactId>
<exclusions>
<exclusion>
<groupId>org.glassfish.hk2.external</groupId>
<artifactId>asm-all-repackaged</artifactId>
</exclusion>
</exclusions>
</dependency>
After I deploy my war and start the server I get javax.servlet.UnavailableException: No class in holder javax.ws.rs.core.Application exception. Here is full stack trace:

Can anyone help me to fix the configuration?
I am a new-bee in Spring MVC with mongo DB. I have created Spring MVC application with traditional DB (Postgresql-JDBC template) before. Since 1 week, I'm facing a problem in my project after configuring MongoDB beans.
I created a spring MVC application that was working fine. Now I need to keep my data to MongoDB (MongoDB shell version: 3.2.9),
So I downloaded related jars, So please check my dependencies version (I tried maven but that also showing error).
mongodb-version - 3.2.9
Spring mvc version - 4.2.5.RELEASE
mongo-java-driver - 3.4.1
spring-data-commons -2.0.0.M1
spring-data-mongodb -2.0.0.M1
slf4j-log4j12-1.7.22.jar
log4j-slf4j-impl-2.0.jar
Tomcat v8.0 Server at localhost
java 8
Dynamic Web Module 3.1
IDE - Eclipse mars
I am keeping all jars in WEB-INF/lib folder
Here I would like to give my spring-dispatcher-servlet

I have found many questions related to this but everyone using the different version of spring mostly using Spring 3.x releases.
I have tried 3.x version but again I found jar version issue. I tried maven but that time servlet life cycle exception occurring in my project. I would like to use spring MVC 4.2.5 because I completed a project with psql as DB and SpringJdbcTemplate as the dependency before.I would be happier if I get a solution with Spring 4.2.5 version.
I would like to also know about LoggerFactory and its need in MongoDB spring project. If anyone got the problem please let me know. Thanks in advance
I faced this same problem before,will you please try with these maven dependencies

Looking at similar questions it seems that there is a dependency missing that causes this error. However, I could not figure out which dependency is missing neither how to spot the missing one in the other cases.
Remove the version here:
http://www.springframework.org/schema/data/neo4j/spring-neo4j-3.0.xsd
that one was probably removed (outdated) you can either leave the version off or use 3.2 or perhaps 3.3

I can't understand the error. Could anyone help me to solve the problem.
In reference to Shrikant's post - sort of.
When using Tomcat, you definitely do not want to include Tomcat's jar files in your WEB-INF/lib folder.
The jars are coming from your Maven dependencies on Spring Boot.
Specify that the spring-boot jars are provided in your pom, like so
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework.boot</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-boot-starter-web</artifactId>
<scope>provided</scope>
</dependency>
This caused me a bit of aggravation, until I looked at the expanded pom's Dependency Hierarchy and saw where the tomcat jars were coming from. Once I changed the scope to provided instead of compile on the spring-boot dependencies, my pages loaded just fine.
Shrikant -> Nothing against your answer really, I just don't care to delete jars from my lib directory and then build a war, when I can just clean, package, install, and deploy all in one go, clicking one button.
I was also facing same problem, but i got the solution.
If you are using Tomcat server, then You must not put tomcat's jar files into WEB-INF/lib. Tomcat already has thoses classes, and they must be loaded by the root tomcat classloader, not by the web-app classloader.
So check your WEB-INF/lib folder and delete all the tomcat's jar.(e.g: tomcat-api-8.0.0-RC1.jar, tomcat-juli-8.0.0-RC1.jar, tomcat-util-8.0.0-RC1.jar, tomcat-servlet-api-8.0.0-RC1.jar).
instead of configuring in web.xml, use a class which implements SpringBootServletInitializer,
I trying to load Tomcat server with Spring but failing with error(see below),
i use ONLY ONE zip for spring: spring-core-3.1.1.RELEASE.jar and did very basic configuration in web.xml
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanx in advance.

Try add the spring-webmvc dependency to your pom:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-webmvc</artifactId>
<version>3.1.1.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
The missing method is located in ConfigurableApplicationContext inside spring-context*.jar. So it is not possible that spring-core-3.1.1.RELEASE.jar is the only Spring JAR you have. Try adding:
<dependency>
<groupId>org.springframework</groupId>
<artifactId>spring-context</artifactId>
<version>3.1.1.RELEASE</version>
</dependency>
to your CLASSPATH.
