Visual Studio issues installing/updates/corrupted files - windows

I have a huge problem with Visual Studio 2015 and I can not resolve it.
I need it for school and I've tried almost everything what I've found on the internet but with no results.
So, I have to install Visual Studio 2015. When I try to install it, it says that I have to install kb 2919355 update. I downloaded it from Microsoft site but it gives me the error that
"This update is not applicable to your computer".
I checked that error more carefully and I found out that I need to have installed update kb 2919442 to allow update kb 2919355 to be installed on my pc.Btw, I have a Lenovo G500, Windows 8.1 Pro N
Again, I downloaded from Microsoft the update kb 2919442 but it gives me the same error:"This update is not applicable to your computer".
I enter on every page that I found related to my problem but with no result.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-update/cannot-install-kb2919442-because-it-is-not/37aa4487-5304-49b2-af18-327dfe760753?tab=question&status=AllReplies&auth=1#tabs
I assumed that I have a corrupted file.I followed the steps presented on the link below, I run sfc /scannow and I found some corrupted files that it couldn't be resolved. The file was: CNBJ2530.PNB.So I tried to check my friends' computers for the same version as I have and to copy the good file in my computer.
My mother's computer has no issues so I copy in a USB her good file, I copied then in my computer and I did the takeown, icacls, and copy commands to overwrite my bad file with the good one.The transition was done, I restarted the computer but when I run again sfc /scannow it gave me again "Windows couldn't resolve the corrupted files that are in your pc......" and I found out that again that file CNBJ2530.PNB is corrupted.
So I didn't make something well.My corrupted file was at the address:
C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prncacla.inf_amd64_95d0460bc8b6fae8\Amd64
So I run the commands:
takeown /f C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prncacla.inf_amd64_95d0460bc8b6fae8\Amd64\CNBJ2530.PNB
icacls C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prncacla.inf_amd64_95d0460bc8b6fae8\Amd64\CNBJ2530.PNB /GRANT ADMINISTRATORS:F
and I have created a new folder in windows folder from c and I put there my mom's file copied from usb and I run the command:
copy C:\Windows\cnb\CNB_0428.GPD C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\prncacla.inf_amd64_95d0460bc8b6fae8\Amd64\CNBJ2530.PNB
I don't know why it has changed the name of the file in CNB_0428.GPD.
What's going on and what I didn't do well?
I have to say that I have installed my windows recently but I have installed the same windows on my mother's computer and she doesn't have corrupted files and another thing, one of my friend has installed Visual Studio and she also have the some corrupted files as I have and she could installed it.
I really don't know what to do, please if someone has encountered this problem share with me.

Publish to AWS Lamba - Failed to find the "build-lambda-zip" utility

I'm currently trying to publish my AWS lambda functions using Visual Studio 2019 community (v4.8.03752) and leveraging the AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio (v1.20.1.0). After right clicking my project and selecting 'Publish to AWS Lambda' I receive the following error:
- Zipping publish folder C:\Users\Matt\source\repos\programName\programName\.\bin\Release\netcoreapp3.1\publish to C:\Users\Matt\AppData\Local\Temp\HelloWorld-CodeUri-Or-ImageUri-637489827969959200.zip
- Failed to find the "build-lambda-zip" utility. This program is required to maintain Linux file permissions in the zip archive.
- Error packaging up project in C:\Users\Matt\source\repos\programName\programName\. for CloudFormation resource HelloWorld: Failed to find the "build-lambda-zip" utility. This program is required to maintain Linux file permissions in the zip archive.
I've been able to deploy this MANY times over previous months, up until Friday 2/12 when I started receiving this error (after a reboot). What's even more strange is that if I uninstall the AWS Toolkit for VS, then reinstall it, I'm able to publish successfully 1 time. With my 2nd attempt, I begin to receive this error again.
Steps I've taken to attempt to resolve:
Repair Visual Studio
Uninstall/Reinstall Visual Studio
Uninstall and reinstall amazon.lambda.tools using dotnet tool install -g Amazon.Lambda.Tools
Uninstall AWS Toolkit for VS, Reinstall toolkit. (This works for first deployment, fails when trying to deploy a 2nd time)
UPDATE:
Per some comments below, it looks like this is being caused by McAfee Real-Time Scanning. In checking the logs during a deployment I noticed a "Virus or threat found" record that points directly to the build-lambda-zip.exe file. To permanently avoid this issue moving forward please follow the steps provided by user2174794 in the comments below.
I'm having the same issue. Just started happening today. It was working within the last 2 weeks.
Failed to find the "build-lambda-zip" utility. This program is required to maintain Linux file permissions in the zip archive.
Running Windows 10, Visual Studio 2019
My solution for now is to use the .NET Core CLI
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/toolkit-for-visual-studio/latest/user-guide/lambda-cli-publish.html
Specifically, the
dotnet lambda deploy-function
A recent update must have broke the AWS Toolkit For Visual Studio.
I have the same problem, it was because my antivirus detect the executable build-lambda-zip.exe, then delete it.
I restore the executable from my antivirus, or restore dotnet tools with the command :
dotnet tool update -g Amazon.Lambda.Tools
I also faced the same issue,
This is because the "build-lambda-zip.exe" file is getting removed by the McAfee Antivirus.
For the permanent fix, you need to follow the below steps.
Step 1
Go to McAfee Settings >> Quarantined Items
You will find the "build-lambda-zip.exe" file there. Restore it to the original location.
Now If you will try to publish, the error won't get displayed. But again on the next scan, the file will get removed.
Step 2
We need to Exclude this file from getting Scanned and removed. So for that,
Go to McAfee Settings >> Real-Time Scanning and Add the "build-lambda-zip.exe" file in the Excluded files list.
For the file path of "build-lambda-zip.exe" got to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\Community\Common7\IDE\Extensions\ and search for the file name.
Maybe you should try reinstalling the AWS Tool Kit and before you make deployments please turn off your antivirus protection. I was troubbling the same issue and my antivirus(McAfee) was deleting build-lambda-zip.exe file when I did deployment first time.
I'm curious about the state of the extension installation. Can you go to VS's extension directory in Windows explorer C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2019\Professional\Common7\IDE\Extensions and in the search box search for AWSToolkitPackage.dll.
Ideally it should only show one instance of that file. Assuming it finds a single instance right click on the file and select "Open File Location". Now that you are in the root folder of the AWS extension check the Resources folder and see if it contains the file build-lambda-zip.exe.
I know the question is in a windows system, but under a linux system, in my case the following command was needed:
sudo apt-get -y install zip

Can't download Visual Studio Installer

I am trying to install the Visual Studio Community Edition.
Unfortunately the Installer can't be downloaded. When I look at the logs I get the following messages:
[12/17/2020, 10:31:35] The entire Box execution exiting with result code: 0x0
[12/17/2020, 10:31:35] Launched extracted application exiting with result code: 0x138b
The bootstrapper can't access the file at C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Packages_bootstrapper\vs_installer\sjbe34w.nig and throws a System.UnauthorizedAccessException.
I allready tried, deleting the Packages Folder and clearing the Temp Folder and running the install-programm as administrator. I also allready cheked my Windows Managment INtrsument in services.msc, and it is running and starts automatically. As I am installing Visual Studio on a computer from my work place I can't stop the antivirus-software.
The permissions on the Package-Folder should actually allow the Software to access it, so I'm confused.

Installation : Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable stuck at 'Processing: Windows7_MSU_X64'

I'm trying to install the package of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable as my xampp apache module cannot be installed. The installation take a very long time to complete. What should I do? Is this common and is all I have to do is wait?
They are dead stuck with this setup progress as the indication
Processing: Windows7_MSU_X64
To install the Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable, you do not need to remove or uninstall the previous versions.
Refer to the error message, you can have a look at the installation log file and search ‘error’, if you can find the error message about Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.msu, check this similar issue and have a try with the following to troubleshot this issue:
Download the update KB2999226 for your OS edition from here: Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows and before it, since your OS is windows 7, make sure SP1 is installed.
Manually install the KB2999226 as below:
Find the Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.msu from the folder C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\xxxxx\packages\Patch\x64, which you can the path from the installation log
Create a folder named ‘XXXX’ in that and execute following commands from Admin command prompt
wusa.exe Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.msu /extract:XXXX
DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:XXXX\Windows6.1-KB2999226-x64.cab
vc_redist.x64.exe /repair
If you have no idea about the installation log, you can go to %temp% and order by ‘Date modified’, then you should find the installation log, or you can use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.zip under %temp% folder then upload the file to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.
I first tried a clean boot and that didn't work so I opened up the task manager to see what other processes I might kill while it was stuck at "Processing: Windows7_MSU_X64" I killed the process titled "windows update standalone installer" and the install completed successfully the moment I killed that process.
Okay, I found the solution for my stucked installation. I updated my Windows manually using wsusoffline tools as my Windows can't seem to update with the usual ways.
Install wsusoffline and select all update for Windows (Windows 7 for me). Make sure to choose the folder to save your update.
Wait for the update to be downloaded
Install the update
Install the MV C++ Redistributable again
Done!
I finally can install my Xampp Apache module and access to the localhost.

Windows 10 SDK won't install to Visual Studio

I've been trying to get Visual Studio and the Windows 10 SDK to work for over a week now. First I couldn't install Visual Studio. That problem was resolved by uninstalling EVERYTHING vaguely related to VS2015, thanks to manually going through everything, but also the Visual Studio "TotalUninstaller".
Plot twist: Now that I've managed to get VS2015 installed and running, I can't get the SDK to install. I've selected it with the installation process, tried to modify VS after, tried to install it with the Standalone installer, but none of it works. Every time, the installer doesn't notice anything wrong, all the tools appear in the start menu, a new "Program Files (x86)/WindowsKits/10.0" folder appears, with all the correct files, but VS can't open any UWP projects, can't create new any, and the SDK doesn't appear in the Extensions list.
When I uninstalled everything, there was only one thing I couldn't get rid of: "Windows 10 for Mobile Image - 10.0.10240.0". It just opens, runs for a second, and closes, achieving nothing in the process. As I couldn't get rid of this, I manually deleted any "Windows Kits" related folder in Program Files, Program Files (x86), ProgramData, and anything in the AppData folder. But this piece of fluffy garbage didn't leave my installed programs list. Could this have something to do with not being able to install the Windows 10 SDK correctly?
I looked in the install logs, and this is the only error I saw:
[371C:398C][2016-08-08T21:13:35]i301: Applying execute package: {7a68448b-9cf2-4049-bd73-5875f1aa7ba2}, action: Install, path: C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{7a68448b-9cf2-4049-bd73-5875f1aa7ba2}\vsupdate_KB3022398.exe, arguments: '"C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\{7a68448b-9cf2-4049-bd73-5875f1aa7ba2}\vsupdate_KB3022398.exe" -quiet -burn.related.patch -burn.ignoredependencies={248fcd1e-5ee1-421d-893f-ec0a94dd7b01} -burn.ancestors={248fcd1e-5ee1-421d-893f-ec0a94dd7b01}'

It appears in every log when I try to install vs2015 with the right option ticked, or when I use the standalone installer. I've looked in C:\ProgramData\Package Cache and there is no {7a68448b-9cf2-4049-bd73-5875f1aa7ba2} folder, and none of the other folders contain "vsupdate_KB3022398.exe". It looks like this is the root of the problem.
EDIT: I've created the folder that was missing and added "vsupdate_KB3022398.exe" to it (found it online, hosted on a Microsoft server), and there are no more errors left. However, the problem still isn't fixed. The SDK simply refuses to show up. I think I'm going to have to do a clean install.
I had the issue of Windows 10 SDK 14393 failing to install on Windows 7 OS. This problem occurred when installing as part of Visual Studio 2015 and also running the Standalone Installer for the Windows 10 SDK 14393. According to the logs, the Windows Desktop Extension SDK failed to install.
As a work-around I installed Windows 10 SDK 10586 (Installed successfully)
Then I installed Windows 10 SDK 14393 (Installed successfully)
Both versions of the Windows 10 SDK appear as choices under Target Platform Version in Visual Studio 2015 for me.
Apparently the Windows 10 SDK 14393 installer is missing something which it requires to run successfully on Windows 7. (Something that must be present in the previous version)
Sorry for the difficulty. There are 2 known issues that are causing 'Fatal Error' in the Windows SDK install.
See the Windows SDK Tools Issues Forum.
You probably have (had) a pre-release of the SDK and one of the contracts installed is causing MDMerge to fail during setup. Uninstalling the prerelease version of the SDK should avoid this issue.
Thanks,
kevin
I had the MDMerge problem, after uninstalling all previous Windows 10 SDK toolkits, still couldn't install. Fixed it by moving the contents of: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10", ran the installer again and it installed fine.
This is what I did and it kind of worked for me. Remove everything in the linker ( PROJECT -> LINKER -> Input -> Additional Dependencies, as can be seen in this screenshot

How to fix '"CheckAttributes" task could not be loaded'-error after installing Visual Studio 2013 Update 4

After installing Update 4, I now find myself unable to build (or even clean) any solution. I keep getting:
Error 1 The "CheckPathAttributes" task could not be loaded from the
assembly C:\Program Files
(x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks.dll.
Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\Program Files
(x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks.dll'
or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Confirm that the declaration is correct, that the assembly
and all its dependencies are available, and that the task contains a
public class that implements
Microsoft.Build.Framework.ITask. HandlePageNotFound
Does anyone know how to resolve this please?
Well, here's "my solution".
First the horrific "prompt of death" (plus the same "licensing issue" annoyance) in this post:
What I've attempted (and result) based on info from the interwebs:
Close VS 2013 and rename the folder:
C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\ComponentModelCache
Result: No effect/errors persist (VS will re-create that folder on startup)
Rerun the Visual Studio Update 4 installer and Repair
Result: Successfully "fixed" whatever it was.
This will take about an hour which is slower than when I originally installed the update so that was a clue, or rather, more like "well, I hope that means it found what it did wrong or forgot/missed out on" (and not, "oh crap, now I'm really screwing things up even more")
A quick summary of my environment so that hopefully will guide you to your solution:
I did install Office Developer Tools Nov 2014 prior to the Update so in my case, that wasn't the issue (I did not remove/uninstall)
I have Resharper, and I did not disable it, so this too doesn't seem related (some have pointed this out)
I did update to Web Essentials 2013 for Update 4 after the initial Update (it will prompt you to after installing VS Update 4). I didn't do anything after the Repair (didn't remove/re-install/etc Web Essentials after the Repair).
I have VS 2012 as well, just mentioning this though that was never affected in any way (and was my fallback while this issue was stopping me from using VS2013)
Hth...
Found the solution via this
TransformXml task could not be loaded from Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks.dll
In my case, I had Visual Studio 2012 installed on an E: drive already, so I found a copy of Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks in
E:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\Web
So I copied that file, and Microsoft.Web.XmlTransform to here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\Web
and now all is well :)
Uninstalling "Office Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2013 – November 2014 Update" helped me. Now all works as before.
If you have VS 2012 installed on your machine. Copy Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks.dll and Microsoft.Web.Publishing.targets from C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\web\ into C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\Web (the path for VS 2013). Restart visual studio.
I have only VS2013 (now with Update 4) and I solve this problem as follows: Close VS, copy "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v10.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks.Dll" into the "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\Web" directory and start VS (folder v11.0 no contains Web subfolder). Now I can rebuild website projects without any error again.
My problem cleared thanks to the same TransformXml link and the suggestion to install Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 4
Copying "Microsoft.Web.Publishing.Tasks.dll" and "Microsoft.Web.XmlTransform.dll" from "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v11.0\Web" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\Web" also works
