I just installed STS 3.7.2. Since my application uses weblogic 10.3.6, i tried installed the oracle enterprise pack (oracle weblogic tools). I finally got around to installing it and now everytime STS starts up, it says "Eclipse is running on JDK 1.7..Oracle enterprise pack requies java 8 and above..". The following screens prompt me to pick jdk 1.8. Once i pick the folder location, STS shuts down. upon starting it up again, i go through the same prompt of picking java 8 installation location. Not sure why STS does not remember.
Try modify java home at eclipse.ini

I am working on a project in jdeveloper where it needs to be built in JDK-7. But when I go to project properties it shows jdk-6 which is preinstalled with weblogic. when compiling project, it also says it is jdk-6. How can I change this?
There is an option though from project properties to change jdk, but I am not sure as it is using weblogic's default jdk and its purpose and hence being very imported project I don't want to change without knowing anything for sure.
Btw, my JAVA_HOME is set to jdk-7. Please suggest.
Change JDK used by JDeveloper
The JDK configuration for JDeveloper is defined in the jdev.conf which located in your Jdeveloper folder\jdeveloper\jdev\bin.
Open the file and find the item SetJavaHome. Change its value to your new JDK folder.
In the below example I switch JDK from JDK 7 to JDK 6 by commenting out JDK 7 and adding a new item for JDK 6.
#SetJavaHome C:\Java\jdk1.7.0_06
SetJavaHome C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_45
After saving the changes restart JDeveloper and it will use the new JDK set in jdev.conf.
You can check JDK used in JDeveloper from JDeveloper.
From JDeveloper goes to Help->About. Then select the tab Properties and will find java.home properties now is set to the JDK specified in jdev.conf.
JDeveloper uses its own settings, tends to ignore $JAVA_HOME.
And different versions use different JDK versions and are pretty much hardwired to them.
JDeveloper 11 is linked to JDK6, JDeveloper 12.1 is linked to JDK7, JDeveloper 12.2 is linked to JDK8.
These coincide with the supported versions of ADF and other Oracle specific frameworks as well. If you need to work with different versions of those, you need to have different versions of JDeveloper installed.
While you might be able to select a JDK to compile against that's older than the newest supported version for a release, compiling against a newer JDK is typically not supported in any IDE. It's been several years since I've used JDeveloper, but that was the case back then and the versions I used were 11 and 12 at the time.
I have a task to update 8.5.5.2 web sphere to 8.5.5.14 on a windows 2008 server. I have java 1.7 already installed (and java 6 as well) and all the profiles uses it.
How ever when i try to apply fix patch using IBM installation manager, by default it's installing Java 8 which is not supported on windows 2008.
Is there a way where i can by pass java 8 and install only the fix patch (8.5.5.14) from installation manager.
Any pointer/help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
Installation Manager Screenshot:
No, WebSphere 8.5.5.14 requires Java 8, and Java 8 is not supported on Windows 2008 Server. If you must stay with Windows 2008 you can't update WebSphere past 8.5.5.13. More detail here: IBM WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition 8.0 Minimum Supported Operating Systems
This is what IBM documentation ( https://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27045339 ) says, I did some shortcuts to make key points easier to notice in a long article:
In 8.5.5.14 and later, it is planned that (Java8) SDK will be required for all new installations and all updates (fixpacks).
In 8.5.5.14 (...) prior operating system releases (such as Windows 2008 (...) ) will no longer be supported.
So unfortunately what you are trying to do is not supported:
Although Java7 is still fine as a runtime environment for your servers, for example if your business application is not yet Java8 compatible, you need to have Java8 installed as a default JVM for Websphere 8.5.5.14 "internal" requirements.
You cant have IBM's Java8 installed in Windows2008, which is mandatory for Websphere 8.5.5.14, that means you cant install Websphere 8.5.5.14.
In the end, I would like to remind you, that you can upgrade to a previous release: 8.5.5.13. Version 8.5.5.13 is 11 fixpacks newer than what you already have, maybe it will suffice for your needs.
Bottom line - upgrade windows to a current version that's not 11 years old. Or, better yet, put it on Linux. WAS is great on Linux! Red Hat, Suse, OpenSuse, Fedora, CentOS are good flavors.
I have no experience in jBoss and can't make it work. I installed it with the installer version and I open up user.home\EAP-7.0.0\bin\standalone.bat and this is what the console looked like. Command froze so I could not copy the text so I took a screendump. Do anyone have a suggestion of how to make it work?
EDITED
I followed this guide
4.2. INSTALLING JBOSS DEVELOPER STUDIO AND RED HAT JBOSS EAP
with a installer jar-file and it created a EAP-7.0.0 folder but no folder or icon for the jBoss Developer Studio. What I can't find out is how to start jBoss Developer Studio.
Your EAP 7 started just fine. Its a clean start of the server without any exceptions. What do you expect ? If you deploy any applications and make changes to any configuration, you will see the console highlighting those messages as well as you can check the log files.
EAP-7.0.0\bin\standalone.bat is the script used to start JBoss EAP in standalone mode in windows OS and the attached screenshot shows that your server has started without any issues.
JBoss Developer Studio is an IDE similar to the eclipse. Did you follow all steps in the document? I would recommend you to redo installation by following all step of chapter 4.2 in the document mentioned. Once the installation is complete successfully you would be able to see application under programs.
Presently i am working with Oracle Jdeveloper 11g Release 1(11.1.1.6.0) as IDE and Rational clear case Remote client 7.1.2 for version control.
While installing the plug in for clear case there was only an option with clear case version 11.1.1.6.38.61.92 and i proceeded with the installation
but when i am trying to connect with clear case using the plugin i am getting an error message "clear case executable is not installed ot not located in your system
environment path".Is the plug in is backward compatible? please Help me to fix this issue.
The ClearCase plugin would only work with a full ClearCase installation on your workstation (where JDeveloper is installed)
But I would be surprised if that plugin would work in a CCRC environment (where you don't have cleartool installed locally)
I am trying to install webcenter on Windows 7 64bit Webcenter setup is not running with 64bit, so i tried with 32 bit install
It started but gives the following error on installation location point.
i am following the points mentioned in blog post

PS:I have already installed the Weblogic in MiddlewareNew Location.
Error:
"INST-07286: Specified Oracle Middleware home location does not have version 10.3.4.0 of Weblogic Server. If the version is incorrect then congfiguring with the weblogic server will fail."
This error I got while installing webcenter(11.1.1.5.0) on Windows 64bit, this error coming at "Installation Location" screen level.
Please advise on what steps should I take to move forward my installation successfully
Here I'm putting my installation location details for Middleware "C:\Oracle\MiddlewareNew", and for weblogic "C:\Oracle\MiddlewareNew\wlserver_12.1"

weblogic 12c is not compatible with webcenter yet....change for an earlier version of weblogic 11g and try again
The prerequisites for Oracle WenCenter Portal on the official Download page http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/webcenter/portal/downloads/index.html specifies Oracle WebLogic Server 11g R1 to be used. The latest version WebLogic Server 12c does not work with current WenCenter Portal version.
