Unable to wire RestTemplate using Spring Cloud Consul and #EnableDiscoveryClient - spring

I'm trying evaluate the use of Consul for service discovery, but with a simple project, the RestTemplate isn't auto wired. Using Spring Cloud Consul 1.0.0.M6 and Spring Boot 1.3.3.
Looking in the Consul UI, I can see my "multimedia" service registered, and if I comment out the use of RestTemplate in the code below, I can see the service instance info.
Is auto wiring of RestTemplate supported currently for Consul discovery with 1.0.0.M6? And if so, is working example to share?
I also have a very similar project that works fine using Eureka, I just changed the #EnableEurekaClient annotation to #EnableDiscoveryClient and set the consul host and port in the bootstrap.properties file. In reading the Spring Cloud Consul docs the functionality should be almost identical -- RestTemplate auto wired and ready to go for the service in the http://>/some/path URL.
Here's the code:
package com.trta.cps;
import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired;
import org.springframework.boot.CommandLineRunner;
import org.springframework.boot.autoconfigure.SpringBootApplication;
import org.springframework.boot.builder.SpringApplicationBuilder;
import org.springframework.cloud.client.discovery.DiscoveryClient;
import org.springframework.cloud.client.discovery.EnableDiscoveryClient;
import org.springframework.web.client.RestTemplate;
#SpringBootApplication
#EnableDiscoveryClient
public class CpsMultimediaServiceClientApplication implements CommandLineRunner {
#Autowired
DiscoveryClient discoveryClient;
#Autowired
private RestTemplate restTemplate;
public static void main(String[] args) {
new SpringApplicationBuilder(CpsMultimediaServiceClientApplication.class).web(false)
.run(args);
}
#Override
public void run(String... args) throws Exception {
discoveryClient.getServices()
.forEach(System.out::println);
discoveryClient.getInstances("multimedia")
.forEach(System.out::println);
String result = this.restTemplate.getForObject("http://multimedia/v1/multimedia/{guid}/info", String.class, "A3E766B4000000E8199D0CA7000002F2");
System.out.println("Response: " + result);
}
}

We made a change on the way RestTemplate is configured. It is no longer created for you. See updated docs. You need to create a RestTemplate bean yourself.
#Configuration
public class MyConfiguration {
#LoadBalanced
#Bean
RestTemplate restTemplate() {
return new RestTemplate();
}
}
public class MyClass {
#Autowired
private RestTemplate restTemplate;
public String doOtherStuff() {
String results = restTemplate.getForObject("http://stores/stores", String.class);
return results;
}
}

spring error No qualifying bean of type JdbcTemplate

I have a spring boot application where I am creating Datasource and JdbcTemplate manually in my config because I need to decrypt datasource password.
I am using tomcat DataSource (org.apache.tomcat.jdbc.pool.DataSource) as recommended in spring boot docs since I am configuring connection properties.
I am excluding autoconfiguration for datasource (see Application.java) since I am creating one manually.
Application.java
// exclude datasourceAutoConfiguration since we are creating manaully creating datasource bean in AppConfig
#SpringBootApplication
#EnableAutoConfiguration(exclude={DataSourceAutoConfiguration.class})
public class Application {
public static void main(String[] args) {
SpringApplication.run(Application.class, args);
}
}
Here is my application.properties file
jdbc.hostdb.url=jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://hello-world:1122/foobar
host.jdbc.hostdb.username=foo
host.jdbc.hostdb.password=encryptedPassword
host.jdbc.hostdb.driver=net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver
secret=afasdfansdfsdfsd
AppConfig.java
import org.apache.tomcat.jdbc.pool.DataSource;
#ComponentScan("com.company.foo")
public class AppConfig {
#Value("${jdbc.hostdb.driver}")
private String driver;
#Value("${jdbc.hostdb.url}")
private String url;
#Value("${jdbc.hostdb.username}")
private String user;
#Value("${jdbc.hostdb.password}")
private String pass;
#Value("${secret}")
private String secret;
#Bean
public DataSource datasource_mydb(Encryption encryption) {
DataSource ds = new DataSource();
ds.setDriverClassName(hostdb_driver);
ds.setUrl(hostdb_url);
ds.setUsername(hostdb_user);
ds.setPassword(encryption.decrypt(hostdb_pass));
return ds;
}
#Bean
Encryption encryption() {
return new Encryption(secret);
}
#Bean
public JdbcTemplate jdbcTemplate(DataSource dataSource) {
return new JdbcTemplate(dataSource);
}
}
MyRepository.java
#Repository
public class MyRepository {
JdbcTemplate jdbcTemplate;
#Autowired
public MyRepository(JdbcTemplate jdbcTemplate){
this.jdbcTemplate=jdbcTemplate;
}
}
when I start spring container, I get the following error

The problem is with the arguments of your bean definitions. Where would their values come from? For example -
#Bean
public JdbcTemplate jdbcTemplate(DataSource dataSource) {
return new JdbcTemplate(dataSource);
}
Here you haven't specified where would value of dataSource argument come from. Same case of datasource_mydb bean. Use #Autowire on bean definitions acception other beans as input arguments.
#Bean
#Autowired
public DataSource datasource_mydb(Encryption encryption) {
DataSource ds = new DataSource();
ds.setDriverClassName(hostdb_driver);
ds.setUrl(hostdb_url);
ds.setUsername(hostdb_user);
ds.setPassword(encryption.decrypt(hostdb_pass));
return ds;
}
#Bean
Encryption encryption() {
return new Encryption(secret);
}
#Bean
#Autowired
#Qualifier("datasource_mydb")
public JdbcTemplate jdbcTemplate(DataSource dataSource) {
return new JdbcTemplate(dataSource);
}
It's possible...
You might not have added JdbcTemplate dependency in project configuration file(.xml file).
Please use spring dependency for DataSource and JdbcTemplate. After that you can autowired DataSource and JdbcTemplate. hopefully it will work.

Could not autowire field in spring using spring-boot

I've been trying to get my head around spring & hibernate in the past 4-5 days and I feel like I'm nearly their...I'm really confused to why I'm getting these auto-wire errors.
I'm trying to create a rest api so I've gone with the mvc pattern.
Does anyone have any idea why I'm getting these errors? I've provided my setup and stack trace below.

Edit 1
I tried removing the label inside #Repository("userDAO") and make it #Repository. As suggested in one of the answers.
This didn't change anything.
Edit 2

Edit 3:
After trying m.deinum's solution, I got the following stack trace...Removing the daoImpl and abstractImpl was a good idea. But I still keep getting these Error creating bean with name X: Injection of autowired dependices failed exceptions...

For starters currently your applicationContext.xml is pretty much useless. If you would remove it, restart and you would still get the same exception. This is due to how Spring Boot (by default) works.
Your Main class is defined in the spring package. Spring Boot automatically scans this packages and all of its sub packages. However your dao etc. is in hibernate not covered by the Spring Boot component scanning.
Either add #ImportResource("location-of-your/applicationContext.xml") or simply add #ComponentScan({"spring","hibernate"}) to your main class, or move your DAO's to a sub package of spring.
Your code is also flawed, you are using Spring then use Spring, don't configure hibernate yourself. Use a LocalSessionFactoryBean for this and let Spring handle all that for you.
#SpringBootApplication
public class Main {
public static void main(final String[] args) throws Exception {
SpringApplication.run(Main.class, args);
}
#Bean
public LocalSessionFactoryBean sessionFactory() {
return new LocalSessionFactoryBean();
}
}
However instead of using plain Hibernate and rolling yet another abstract dao, I suggest you remove all that. Use JPA together with Spring Data JPA, saves you a lot of code. (Remove user userDaoImpl and AbstractDao and all the interfaces that come with it).
Your userDao would look like.
public interface userDao extends JpaRepository<User, Integer> {}
(Yes that is it nothing more nothing less and yes no implementation).
You can then also remove the sessionFactory method from your Main class. Your userService would need to change, to use a findAll instead of list.
#Service("userService")
#Transactional
public class userServiceImpl implements userService {
#Autowired
userDAO dao;
public List<user> findAll() {
return dao.findAll();
}
...
}
The general advice is use the framework (and first read some documentation) instead of trying old ways with new frameworks.
Pro Tip: Use a accepted naming convention userServiceImpl etc. isn't really custom in Java land, start with an uppercase letter UserServiceImpl.
Just remove name from
#Repository("userDAO")
public class userDAOImpl extends AbstractDao<Integer, user> implements userDAO {
make it
#Repository
public class userDAOImpl extends AbstractDao<Integer, user> implements userDAO {
It could be caused by you defined multiple <component-scan>. The latest one's <context:component-scan base-package="spring.service" /> is taking effect. From the exception, Spring was instantiating service beans indeed.
Just use
<context:component-scan base-package="spring.controller, hibernate.dao, hibernate.model,spring.service" />
Please use the #Qualifier annotation in the below locations:
public class userController {
#Autowired
#Qualifier("userService")
userService userService;
and
#Service("userService")
#Transactional
public class userServiceImpl implements userService {
#Autowired
#Qualifier("userDAO")
userDAO dao;
and check.

Spring BeanCreationException : Bean instantiation via factory method failed nested exception

I'm getting start with Spring and I'm trying to build an app using Security, Hibernate and Thymleaf.

If you need any information don't hesitate :)
Please make sure you have the correct packages to scan in your entity manager.
entityManagerFactory.setPackagesToScan(
env.getProperty("entitymanager.packagesToScan")
);
are you sure the correct path has been set here. Not sure what entity manger is and are you setting the path to scan
if your application if there is any baseClass defined then try to use
entityManagerFactoryBean.setPackagesToScan(new String[]{BaseEntity.class.getPackage().getName()});

org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No qualifying bean of type [org.mybatis.spring.SqlSessionTemplate]

Error in spring-boot with mybatis
#Component
public class UserMapper {
#Autowired
private SqlSessionTemplate sqlSessionTemplate;
public void testSpringBootWithMybatis() {
System.out.println("this is a test.");
}
}
and here is what the error shows:
Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No qualifying bean of type [org.mybatis.spring.SqlSessionTemplate] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency. Dependency annotations: {#org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired(required=true)}

but it works fine as the following:
#Component
public class UserMapper {
//#Autowired
//private SqlSessionTemplate sqlSessionTemplate;
public void testSpringBootWithMybatis() {
System.out.println("this is a test.");
}
}
I don't know why it was failed whit the property sqlSessionTemplate.
In order to be able to inject SqlSessionTemplate, you need to define the SqlSessionTemplate bean first.
Have you defined SqlSessionTemplate as a bean ?
Here's an example on how to define this bean from their documentation using xml configuration.
