ALTER TABLE Warranty ADD COLUMN StartDate2 DATETIME, EndDate2 DATETIME, Status2 BIT
This isnt getting me far - I even tried to break it down like this:
ALTER TABLE Warranty ADD COLUMN StartDate2 DATETIME
But get an error saying
"The following errors were encountered while parsing the contents of the SQL pane: ALTER TABLE Warranty ADD COLUMN StartDate2 DATETIME. The query cannot be represented graphically in the Diagram and Criteria Pane.
I should note that I did try to add the columns in MSAccess itself but my Visual Studio's didnt update after a refresh. Any ideas?
In Access you can do:
Currentdb.Execute ("ALTER TABLE Warranty ADD COLUMN StartDate2 DATETIME")
So call the same command from VS if that is what you want.

I'm pretty new to SQL so if you can keep it as as simple as possible that would be appreciated.
Currently trying to add all the contact IDs from the contact table (civicrm_contacts) to a new custom field table which is a button to show/hide a contact from the main website. At the moment whenever I run my query I get back the following:
"SQL Error [1442] [HY000]: Can't update table 'civicrm_contact' in stored function/trigger because it is already used by statement which invoked this stored function/trigger."
My query is going something like this:
INSERT INTO civicrm_value_appears_on_we_69 (entity_id)
SELECT cc.id
FROM civicrm_contact cc
WHERE contact_type='Organization'
There are 3 columns in total for the 'civicrm_value_appears_on_we_69': 'ID', 'entity_id', and 'appears_on_website_45' which is a 0 or 1 for the button value. All I want is to insert the contact IDs for all the Organisation contacts, I don't mind about nulls for now as long as it makes the rows.
I've looked up a bit about the error and I'm unsure why it's happening. As far as I can gather this errors happpens when you're using a trigger that using the same table as you're inserting into/from. I'm not using a trigger at the moment, or perhaps I have this wrong.
Any suggestions?
alter table tablename rename column zl_divn_nbr to div_loc_nbr;
Error while executing the above statement. Please help.
SQL Error: ORA-54032: column to be renamed is used in a virtual column expression
54032. 0000 - "column to be renamed is used in a virtual column expression"
*Cause: Attempted to rename a column that was used in a virtual column
expression.
*Action: Drop the virtual column first or change the virtual column
expression to eliminate dependency on the column to be renamed
Run the following SQL query in your database using the table name mentioned in the error message. For example, in the error message shown in this article, the table name is 'tablename'. Note that whilst the table name appears in lower case in the error message, it may be upper case in your DB. This query is case sensitive so if you receive no results, check whether the table name is upper case inside your database.
SELECT COLUMN_NAME, DATA_DEFAULT, HIDDEN_COLUMN
FROM USER_TAB_COLS
WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'tablename';
Before proceeding, make sure the Bitbucket Server process is not running. If Extended Statistics has been enabled, contact your database administrator to have them drop the Extended Statistics metadata from the table, and proceed with your upgrade. If you wish to enable Extended Statistics again after the upgrade you may do so, however be aware that you may need to repeat this process again for subsequent upgrades otherwise you risk running into this issue again.
Removing columns created by Extended Statistics requires using an in-build stored procedure,
DBMS_STATS.DROP_EXTENDED_STATS().
Usage of this stored procedure is covered further in ORA-54033 and the Hidden Virtual Column Mystery, and looks similar to the following:
EXEC DBMS_STATS.DROP_EXTENDED_STATS(ownname=>'<YOUR_DB_USERNAME>', tabname=>'tablename', extension=>'("PR_ROLE", "USER_ID", "PR_APPROVED")')

Database Upgrade Eror: column to be rename
Thanks.
Probably, you have such a table :
CREATE TABLE tablename(
id NUMBER,
zl_divn_nbr NUMBER,
zl_divn_percent NUMBER GENERATED ALWAYS AS (ROUND(zl_divn_nbr/100,2)) VIRTUAL
);
where zl_divn_nbr column is used for a computation for virtual(zl_divn_percent) column.
To rename zl_divn_nbr, all referenced virtual columns to this column should be removed, and may be created later.
The syntax for defining a virtual column is this :
column_name [datatype] [GENERATED ALWAYS] AS (expression) [VIRTUAL]
Since version 11 R1, we have this property.
ALTER TABLE rename column to
In the case of tables with virtual or 'group extension columns' the above
statement returns an error before Oracle 12cR2. For Oracle 12cR2 or newer versions the above statement runs fine cause 'renaming column' command is decoupled from the group extension aspect.
I'm using a Win XP box with BDE Administrator and Access 2007 installed. I'm able to open and perform select queries on existing Paradox tables without problem but have some very strange behavior when attempting INSERT/UPDATE. I can even create a new Paradox table and it has the same behavior. Here is sample code:
' create new table
conObj.Execute "CREATE TABLE test (id INT, comment VARCHAR(30))"
' first insert works fine
conObj.Execute "INSERT INTO test VALUES (1, 'something')"
' second insert fails for unknown reason
conObj.Execute "INSERT INTO test VALUES (2, 'something else')"
I've tried using Jet 4.0, MS Access Paradox driver, and native Paradox driver connection strings but all yield the same result. On the second insert statement it throws an error:
Operation must be an updateable query
I've read numerous posts in forums and pages on help sites that tell me this error is caused by a file permissions issue. The account running this script is part of the Administrator group and I've changed file permissions to allow the Everyone group Full Control of the db file but this changes nothing.
This page put out by Micrsoft Support did not fix the problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/175168
Additionally, I can create a new table but any time I try to create a PRIMARY KEY or UNIQUE field I get an error message that says:
"Index_[random characters] is not a valid name."
try
"CREATE TABLE test (id INT, comment VARCHAR(30), primary key(id))"
I don't know much about Paradox databases but this has indeed been a learning experience. Even though I have a table file called table.db that's not enough to store more than a single row of data. I also need several other files to insert or update a paradox database:
table.DB
table.PX
table.VAL
table.XG0
table.XG1
table.YG0
table.YG1
I was nosing around in another program that generates paradox databases and found when I copied a blank database from it along with these other files it generated I was able to insert and update without problems. I have no idea what these files are for or why they need to be present to insert or update but having them present fixed my issue.
I have a - for me unknown - issue and I don't know what's the logic/cause behind it. When I try to insert a record in a table I get a DB2 error saying:
[SQL0803] Duplicate key value specified: A unique index or unique constraint *N in *N
exists over one or more columns of table TABLEXXX in SCHEMAYYY. The operation cannot
be performed because one or more values would have produced a duplicate key in
the unique index or constraint.
Which is a quite clear message to me. But actually there would be no duplicate key if I inserted my new record seeing what records are already in there. When I do a SELECT COUNT(*) from SCHEMAYYY.TABLEXXX and then try to insert the record it works flawlessly.
How can it be that when performing the SELECT COUNT(*) I can suddenly insert the records? Is there some sort of index associated with it which might give issues because it is out of sync? I didn't design the data model, so I don't have deep knowledge of the system yet.
The original DB2 SQL is:

ON UPDATE NO ACTION;
I'd like to see the statements...but since this question is a year old...I won't old my breath.
I'm thinking the problem may be the
GENERATED BY DEFAULT
And instead of passing NULL for the identity column, you're accidentally passing zero or some other duplicate value the first time around.
Either always pass NULL, pass a non-duplicate value or switch to GENERATED ALWAYS
Look at preceding messages in the joblog for specifics as to what caused this. I don't understand how the INSERT can suddenly work after the COUNT(*). Please let us know what you find.
Since it shows *N (ie n/a) as the name of the index or constraing, this suggests to me that is is not a standard DB2 object, and therefore may be a "logical file" [LF] defined with DDS rather than SQL, with a key structure different than what you were doing your COUNT(*) on.
Your shop may have better tools do view keys on dependent files, but the method below will work anywhere.
If your table might not be the actual "physical file", check this using Display File Description, DSPFD TZVDB.PRODUCTCOSTS, in a 5250 ("green screen") session.
Use the Display Database Relations command, DSPDBR TZVDB.PRODUCTCOSTS, to find what files are defined over your table. You can then DSPFD on each of these files to see the definition of the index key. Also check there that each of these indexes is maintained *IMMED, rather than *REBUILD or *DELAY. (A wild longshot guess as to a remotely possible cause of your strange anomaly.)
You will find the DB2 for i message finder here in the IBM i 7.1 Information Center or other releases
Is it a paging issue? we seem to get -0803 on inserts occasionally when a row is being held for update and it locks a page that probably contains the index that is needed for the insert? This is only a guess but it appears to me that is what is happening.
I know it is an old topic, but this is what Google shown me on the first place.
I had the same issue yesterday, causing me a lot of headache. I did the same as above, checked the table definitions, keys, existing items...
Then I found out the problem was with my INSERT statement. It was trying to insert to identical records at once, but as the constraint prevented the commit, I could not find anything in the database.
Advice: review your INSERT statement carefully! :)
I'm having one of those throw the computer out the window days.
I am working on a problem involving Crystal Reports (Version 10) and an Oracle Database (11g).
I am taking a view from the database that returns a string (varcahr2(50)) which is actually a number, when a basic SELECT * query is run on this view I get the number back in the format 000000000000100.00.
When this view is then used in Crystal Reports I can view the field data, but I can't sum the data as it is not a number.
I began, by attempting to using ToNumber on the field, to which Crystal's response was that the string was not numeric text. Ok fair enough, I went back to the view and ran TO_NUMBER, when this was then used in crystal it did not return any results. I also attempted to run TO_CHAR on the view so that I could hopefully import the field as text and then perform a ToNumber, yet the same as with the TO_NUMBER no records were displayed.
I've started new reports, I've started new views. No avail.
This seems to have something to do with how I am retrieving the data for the view.
In simplistic terms I'm pulling data from a table looking at two fields a Foreign Key and a Value field.
SELECT PRIMARY_KEY,
NVL(MAX(DECODE(FOREIGN_KEY, FOREIGN_KEY_OF_VALUE_I_NEED, VALUE_FIELD)), 0)
FROM MY_TABLE
GROUP BY PRIMARY_KEY
When I attempted to put modify the result using TO_NUMBER or TO_CHAR I have used it around the VALUE_FIELD itself and the entire expression, wither way works when the run in a SQL statement. However any TO_NUMBER or TO_CHAR modification to the statement returns no results in Crystal Reports when the view is used.
This whole problem smacks of something that is a tick box or equivalent that I have overlooked.
Any suggestions of how to solve this issue or where I could go to look for an answer would be greatly appreciated.
I ran this query in SQL Developer:
SELECT xxx, to_number(xxx) yyy
FROM (
SELECT '000000000000100.00' XXX FROM DUAL
)
Which resulted in:
XXX YYY
000000000000100.00 100
If your field is truly numeric, you could create a SQL Expression field to do the conversion:
-- {%NUMBER_FIELD}
TO_NUMBER(TABLE.VALUE_FIELD)
This turned out to be an issue with how Crystal Reports deals with queries from a database. All I needed to do was contain my SQL statement within another Select Statement and on this instance of the column apply the TO_NUMBER so that Crystal Reports would recognize the column values as numbers.
Hopefully this helps someone out, as this was a terrible waste of an afternoon.
