How to configure this .pl file - oracle

I'm trying to import or install MusicBrainz' database and I'm following this instruction.
My OS is Windows so I'm following Windows instruction. I've done up to number 4, but when I opened to configure settings.pl file(link) I couldn't understand what that file wants me to configure.
I think the lines looking like this
$g_schema_url = "$schema_base/admin/sql/CreateTables.sql";
is the part I need to change for the file to work, but I don't think I understand these lines.
I googled and found out that .pl files are the files written in a language called Perl. But I didn't download or install the language because the instruction didn't require me to. Should I? I really am a beginner so even I sound stupid I hope you can understand.
I'm working on Oracle 11.

I've never used MBZDB before, but I looked through the settings.pl and I don't believe for a standard install you should need to change anything. You should be able to move on to step 6.
Edit: I was incorrect: I failed to notice you are using an Oracle database. As a commenter posted, it looks like it will work best with MySQL. If you install that, though, you should be good to go.

Update libraries after manual change

So I started working on my first open-source contribution in ruby. There I have the library I'm working on in the /lib/ folder. Now when I tried changing the code, my program (which uses the library) still uses the old code.
For example: Broke a function on purpose by deleting its end keyword (which should be causing an immediate crash), but it kept working perfectly after I did.
Another example was changing the code in such a way it should still work (mutating the output string) but it still returned the old string.
user~$ bin/ruby-hyphen -V "this is a test sentence"
this is a test sen-tence
Does anyone know if I have to tell the runtime to refresh it or something along those lines?
I found out why that happened. The file has a *.gemspec, which made it act as if it was a gem. To see the changes I needed to enter:
gem build *.gemspec
bundle exec rake install
Or, if you want to develop quicker: change everywhere you require it into a require_relative. That should also fix it. I hope this question helps someone in the future!

How to get Processing to work on Cloud9 using Ruby language?

I am currently working on a personal project using the Ruby language in Cloud9 IDE. Recently, I came across an environment/programming language called Processing. My goals is to make Processing available for my use in Cloud9 IDE.
I am a complete novice and have no clue what I am doing. I followed directions from the following website: Directions for setting up Processing
I entered the following commands into Cloud9's terminal:
rvm install jruby
rvm use jruby
gem install ruby-processing
PROCESSING_ROOT: "/Applications/Processing.app/Contents/Java"
Entering in PROCESSING_ROOT: "/Applications/Processing.app/Contents/Java"
outputted message bash: PROCESSING_ROOT:: command not found
I wasn't too surprised by this, since the last entry probably needs information specific to my setup. Here are my questions:
1.) Are these directions correct for what I am trying to do? (get Processing to work in Cloud9 IDE). If they are not correct, can someone please point me to the correct directions, or give me directions?
2.) If these directions are correct, how can I successfully finish the last step? I tried running DrawRuby.rb, a simple program copied from the internet that supposedly made use of Processing. When I ran the code, the message "You need to set PROCESSING_ROOT in ~/.rpsrc" appeared. I am not sure if this piece of information is relevant or not, but I figured I would add it.
This is where I am at, and I am completely stuck. If someone could give me some help, I would be very grateful. Also, please make your explanation easy to understand. I am relatively new to the programming world, and may not necessarily understand terminology or how things should work.
Cheers!
*** Edit: I created a new workspace in Cloud9 IDE and tried Jed's suggestion. This is what happened:echo 'PROCESSING_ROOT: "/Applications/Processing.app/Contents/Java"' > ~/.rpsrc
:~/workspace $ rp5 run Draw.rb

You need to add a file to your home directory (~/) called .rpsrc and then add that environmental setting (PROCESSING_ROOT) to your file. The following should work from the command line in your cloud9 environment:
echo 'PROCESSING_ROOT: "/Applications/Processing.app/Contents/Java"' > ~/.rpsrc
I know it might be a bit late for you but ruby-processing is now deprecated, and will only work with processing-2.2.1. For processing-3.3.7 use either JRubyArt or propane latter does not even require processing install.

Tensorflow object detection: ImportError: No module named nets

I am currently attempting to install the tensorflow object detection app on Windows 7 (employer requirement) and I am failing at a few steps from the end.
Basically I get the following error when I run the installation test command:
ImportError: No module named nets.
I have read some solutions on the subject:
https://github.com/tensorflow/models/issues/729
https://github.com/tensorflow/models/issues/1842
which looks like this:
export PYTHONPATH="$PYTHONPATH:"somepath"/tensorflow/models/slim"
basically meaning that I must set the right path in the PYTHONPATH environmental variable.
Working with Windows, I tried calling this:
SET PYTHONPATH="$PYTHONPATH:C:tensorflow/models/slim
And when it didn't work, I created a PYTHONPATH variable in system-> environmental variables.
I'm still getting the error so I suppose that I am still missing something but due to my lack of knowledge I still can't figure out what.
Would someone familiar with Windows be able to point out what's missing?
Thanks
in linux:
add export export PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:pwd:pwd/slim to ~/.bashrc
attention:you should keep single quote mark
if you work with windows, i guess it should like this:PYTHONPATH=$PYTHONPATH:'C:/tensorflow/models':'C:/tensorflow/models'/slim
just my guess, you can take a try.
good luck!
If you run the setup.py it will install all the relevant modules for object detection. The other option is download the git directory. cd to the folder and try to run the module from there. You might face protubuf issue. Try to install it before running the code. It's bit complicated to install protobuf in windows. But if you are not using ".pb" file, then you don't need to.
I figured out a way to make it work. I am not writing this as a final answer as it is mostly a workaround and due to lack of understanding from my part I cannot guarantee it will work (and also it might not be best good practice).
Anyway here it is:
As Beta previously suggested, you have to run setup.py, however running it from models folder did not do it for me, I also had to run it from object detection folder.
However there was a problem there, it generated an error saying the BUILD already existed (which was correct) so I had to delete the BUILD file from inside of model.
After that it worked, turns out the path I had set was working fine.
Now if some experts would look into this and explain how and why this workaround worked it might make this a valid solution.

Installing libqxt VS2010

Sorry if I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to this sort of stuff, but thanks anyway.
Basically I've managed to install QT4.7 properly and it works and compiles stuff. (I'm using it conjunction with vs2010). However, I wanted to try something that requires libqxt. Unfortunately this seems to be the only installation guide out there. And I'm really not getting it. It mentions this little bit:
"configuration
Make sure qmake is in your PATH and run"
I think this is where I'm getting tripped up. Is this the qmake the same one I used for QT4.7? (If this is the case I shouldn't have to change anything right? It ought to look like this: "c:\Qt\4.7\bin". Which is added by going to >
Control Panel|System|Advanced|Environment variables menu. And which is already there from installing qt4.7)
Or is there a new qmake for libqxt somewhere? Am I understanding the term PATH incorrectly?
In any case right now clicking on configure.bat just echoes back "searching" and then closes before I can read what else it says. Would I be better off just opening a cmd prompt and cd'ing to the libqxt directory and running the configure file from there?
If anyone knows of an alternate install libqxt tutorial somewhere that'd probably helpful to me as well. Thanks to anyone who can take a minute to point me in the right direction.

Can't run Informix 4GL Interactive Debugger

I am reading through Informix 4GL By Example. Ex4 is giving a segmentation fault so I am attempting to use the debugger to find out where the program is failing, but the debugger is not working.
From within r4gl, I can compile forms and modules. But when I debug it shows a blank screen with
"Press Return to continue".
From the command line fgldb returns the following error:
fgldb: symbol lookup error: fgldb: undefined symbol: kw__numkws
DB is up and running, I can isql in and run queries.
System details:
OpenSuSE 12.1 32 bit
Informix RDS 7.50 UC6
Informix SQL DEV 7.50 UC6
Informix Growth Edition 11.70 UC5
Informix Interactive Debugger 7.50 UC6
I have searched the net, but have not found anything helpful. Any idea what's wrong?
UPDATE 1:
Thank you again for the assistance. I will be trying to install in a seperate directory and let you know. This is probably blonde but how do I install in a different directory. If I attempt to I get errors:
"INFORMIXDIR and working directory do not match."
"INFORMIXDIR = /usr/informix"
"Current working directory = /usr/informix/i4gl"
Can I edit $INFORMIXDIR to match where I want to install?
Many thanks,
Neill
UPDATE 2:
OK, so I got them both installed in /usr/informix/i4gl.
Set variables to point to that directory, not sure exactly which ones need to though because I still receive errors.
fgldb: -16326: Cannot open file 'fgldb.iem'
The /usr/informix/i4gl does contain a directory msg/en_us/0333, but that file does not exist there, while /usr/informix/msg/en_us/0333 does include the fgldb.iem file.
isql -> Query Language: Says SELECT DATABASE, but none or shown for me to select.
Kind regards
Neill
UPDATE 3:
OK, my blonde momnets are getting crazy now, but after installing into /usr/informix/i4gl, I never changed back the $INFORMIXDIR variable. I did this and then stopped and started the DB.
Now when trying to compile the demo f_custkey.per (using stores_demo db as before) form, I get errors -329 and -2810, which are to do with the database not found.
I am not sure if this is what you were talking about in your last statement. I am unsure if splitting these two into seperate directories has solved my debugger issue because now I can't compile anything, but I sense I am getting close.
Kind regards,
Neill
UPDATE 4 - Final!
OK, so it is working now.
Ran the dbaccessdemo7 command again to recreate the database and all is well in the land of nod.
Compiling and debugging ex4 now works.
Thank you so much for all the information. Learning as I go.
Kind regards
Neill
The kw_numkws issue is fixed post 7.50.UC6. So the next available fixpack will have the fix.
In the interim, IBM Technical Support has posted a "Tech Alert" advising customers to install I4GL (and ISQL) in a separate directory - option #2 suggested by Jonathan Leffler above.
The core dump/crash that you're hitting is an unfortunate bug that we found out about earlier this week. The ESQL/C code is fixed (as of today), but the fixed releases are not yet available, and won't be for a while (read 'until after Thanksgiving at the earliest'). The I4GL and ISQL code still has to be fixed (some separate, but closely related problems).
What's happened is that a structure changed size in the CSDK. I4GL will be compiling the code with the one size and the CSDK libraries are expecting another size; the difference is about 4 bytes.
This leads to hard to track memory overwriting.
The kw__numkws issue is an older problem that I thought was fixed in 7.50.UC6. I'll have to check whether that release did get the fix, and if so, how you are seeing that error still.
There are a couple of short-term options that should get you going until a fixed ensemble is available:
Reinstall I4GL (and ISQL) in the server directory. I've not proved that this will work. The concept is to make sure I4GL is using the CSDK libraries it was built with, rather than the updated 3.70.xC6 version.
Reinstall I4GL (and ISQL) in a separate directory (/opt/IBM/i4gl, perhaps). Have a suitable sqlhosts file in this directory; it might be a symlink to the one in the IDS directory. Point the I4GL programs at this alternative directory, setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH appropriately.
Option 2 ensures that I4GL is using the 'correct' CSDK. Option 1 may achieve the same result, but I'm not ready to guarantee it. Consequently, I suggest option 2.
If your I4GL code needs to run DB-Access or other programs found in the server $INFORMIXDIR, there are ways to deal with that — indicate in a comment and I'll explain, but I'd rather not confound you if there's no need. (It's not dreadfully hard, but it isn't completely trivial either.)
Option 3. is to discover what CSDK was used to create the 4GL tools and install THAT instead of the current one. In the case of 4GL 7.50FC6 it CSDK 3.70FC4.
I had problems splitting up the engine and the tools. This appears to work, so far.
