i have problem with CI when insert data is integer into database.
My field is oauth_uid[varchar(250)], when i use active record insert value is 10205796940433933 into that field, it's become 1.0205796940434E+16
how to fix it!
sorry, my english is not good
This is from php, if you have a int value and you wold like to convert to make a cast to string you only need to make is
$new_v = (string) $int_value;
$data_to_insert = array(
//other values
'oauth_uid' => $new_v
);
I also happened to the same thing and the problem was that I sent GET the form and received it in Controller as POST

I want to update a totcosty field in the User table but it is throwing this error everytime and it is not updating the field
this is the function for execution:
public static function cost(){
$user = User::find($user_id);
$total = Helper::totcost();
// dd($tot_amt);
$user->totcosty = $total;
$user->save();
}
array to string means you are sending an array to the database but db will not accept it you have to explode() the array before sending it to db...
Hope it will help!
If you really want to store an array in some table field, then better declare it as a JSON field. For this, your DB should have support for JSON type columns.
See here how to do this.
Once this is done, you can save arrays in that column, you can assign an array value to the model property and laravel will convert it to JSON while saving and also it will be converted to array while retrieving.
I am using following Code for my model m:
#(Html.Kendo().DropDownListFor(m => m.*Property*)
.BindTo(Enum.GetValues(typeof(*Enum1*))))
This works fine but of course is not very user friendly. I want to display string values but send int values.
Using .BindTo(Enum.GetNames(typeof (Enum1)).ToList())
does not help as I need to send the actual int values.
Using .BindTo(new List{...}
I also need to call .toString() on my value which needs to be int.
What am I supposed to do?
Convert the enum into a Dictionary and bind the result to the dropdown.
.DataTextField("Value")
.DataValueField("Key")
.BindTo(Enum.GetValues(typeof(*Enum1*)).Cast<*Enum1*>().ToDictionary(e => (int)e, e => e.ToString() );
Hope this helps. Good luck.
I am trying to do a Laravel validation rules as follow:
"permalink" => "required|unique:posts,permalink,hotel_id,deleted_at,NULL|alpha_dash|max:255",
The explanation to the rules is:
I have a table "Posts" in my system with the following fields (among others): hotel_id, permalink, deleted_at. If MySQL would allow make an unique index with null values, the sql would be:
ALTER TABLE `posts`
ADD UNIQUE `unique_index`(`hotel_id`, `permalink`, `deleted_at`);
So: I just add a new row IF: the combination of hotel_id, permalink and deleted_atfield (witch must be NULL) are unique.
If there is already a row where the permalink and hotel_id field are the same and 'deleted_at' field is NULL, the validation would return FALSE and the row wouldnt be inserted in the database.
Well. I don't know why, but the query Laravel is building looks like:
SELECT count(*) AS AGGREGATE FROM `posts`
WHERE `hotel_id` = the-permalink-value AND `NULL` <> deleted_at)
What the heck...
The query I was hoping Laravel build to validation is:
SELECT count(*) AS AGGREGATE FROM `posts`
WHERE `permalink` = 'the-permalink-value' AND `hotel_id` = ? AND `deleted_at` IS NULL
Could someone explain me how this effectively works? Because everywhere I look it looks like this:
$rules = array(
'field_to_validate' =>
'unique:table_name,field,anotherField,aFieldDifferentThanNull,NULL',
);
Does anyone could help me?
Thank you
all.
Finally, I got a proper understanding of the validation (at least, I think so), and I have a solution that, if it is not beautiful, it can helps someone.
My problem, as I said before, was validate if a certain column (permalink) is unique ONLY IF other columns values had some specific values. The problem is the way Laravel validation string rules works. Lets get to it:
First I wrote this:
"permalink" => "required|unique:posts,permalink,hotel_id,deleted_at,NULL|alpha_dash|max:255",
And it was generating bad queries. Now look at this:
'column_to_validate' => 'unique:table_name,column_to_validate,id_to_ignore,other_column,value,other_column_2,value_2,other_column_N,value_N',
So. The unique string has 3 parameters at first:
1) The table name of the validation
2) The name of the column to validate the unique value
3) The ID of the column you want to avoid (in case you are editing a row, not creating a new one).
After this point, all you have to do is put the other columns in sequence like "key,value" to use in your unique rule.
Oh, easy, an? Not so quickly, paw. If you're using a STATIC array, how the heck you will get your "currently" ID to avoid? Because $rules array in Laravel Model is a static array. So, I had to came up with this:
public static function getPermalinkValidationStr() {
$all = Input::all();
# If you are just building the frozenNode page, just a simple validation string to the permalink field:
if(!array_key_exists('hotel', $all)) {
return 'required|alpha_dash|max:255';
}
/* Now the game got real: are you saving a new record or editing a field?
If it is new, use 'NULL', otherwise, use the current id to edit a row.
*/
$hasId = isset($all['id']) ? $all['id'] : 'NULL';
# Also, check if the new record with the same permalink belongs to the same hotel and the 'deleted_at' field is NULL:
$result = 'required|alpha_dash|max:255|unique:posts,permalink,' . $hasId . ',id,hotel_id,' . $all['hotel'] . ',deleted_at,NULL';
return $result;
}
And, in the FrozenNode rules configuration:
'rules' => array(
'hotel_id' => 'required',
'permalink' => Post::getPermalinkValidationStr()
),
Well. I dont know if there is a easiest way of doing this (or a much better approach). If you know something wrong on this solution, please, make a comment, I will be glad to hear a better solution. I already tried Ardent and Observer but I had some problems with FrozenNode Administrator.
Thank you.
I'm using a Typed DataSet with an Insert statement; I have a table that has a smalldatetime field defined to accept null values. When I insert from a .NET 2.0 FormView, I get a "SqlDateTime overflow. Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM."
Now, I've read this post, and the parameter as sent to the class constructor is defined as
global::System.Nullable<global::System.DateTime> DoB
So, it looks like it should accept a Nullable obj. Additionally, the generated code is testing the value sent.
if ((DoB.HasValue == true)) {
command.Parameters[6].Value = ((System.DateTime)(DoB.Value));
}
else {
command.Parameters[6].Value = global::System.DBNull.Value;
}
Specifically, the error is occurring when generated SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteScalar() runs:
try {
returnValue = command.ExecuteScalar();
}
So, I guess my question is: how do I use a Typed DataSet to set a blank value (passed from a FormView on CommandName=Insert) to a null in a database?
Ok, so here's what worked for me. First, to reiterate, I've got a Typed DataSet with DataAdapters that's generating the ADO objects. So, on my page, I can create a ObjectDataSource with the type that points to my adapter, and then name the different access methods housed there-in.
No, I have an Insert to a table where basically all the columns are nullable; some varchar, some smalldatetime.
When I submit an empty form, I'd like nulls to be entered. They're not and lots of various errors are thrown. What I ended up doing is subclassing the ObjectDataSource to gain access to the Inserting event. (subclassed for reusability) In the Inserting event, I looped through the InputParameters, and if it was a string and == "", I set it to null. Also, you cannot set ConvertNullToDBNull to true; that causes the strings to fail. This successfully allowed the Nullable to remain null.
I'm trying to query the unique reference number of a table using Linq to Entities. The ID is provided via a textbox and hence a string in my code. Obviously in the database table the field is an integer so I have tried using .ToString first and then .Contains in the same way you would with a varchar(). This doesn't seem to work, with the error coming from the .ToString method.
How do you do this? I have tried converting the textboxes content to an integer but this then means the user would have to enter the exact int instead of a partial number.
Many Thanks
I'm not sure why toString do not work for you. I've tried this to methods. Both returned answers:
List<int> ids = new List<int>() { 111, 211, 311, 422, 522, 622, 733, 833, 933 };
string query = "11";
var result = ids.Where(id => id.ToString().Contains(query));
var result2 = ids.ConvertAll<string>(i => i.ToString()).Where(id => id.Contains(query));
// Both return the first three items
int value;
if(int.TryParse(someTextString,out value))
{
//do work here using integer comparision with 'value'
}
Whatever do you mean by "partial" value? Whatever you are "adding" to the user supplied string, you can still do before you parse the value. Your explanation is not very clear.
If you are indeed trying to make a wildcard search, this will fail using Linq-to-entities against a DB int value. I doubt lte will make much sense of sometable.intvalue.ToString().Contains(). In this case, you might need to do some client side maths to figure out what ranges need retrieving, or to write a stored procedure that does the search at the SQL end..
