When you Right click -> New -> New Text Document, the file comes up with this name: New Text Document.txt and the name part comes as selected so you can type a different name. But to change the extension part you need to go to the right of the . and then press delete multiple times. I want the default extension to come up as .rtf. And it would be pretty interesting to change the "New Text Document" to a reminder like "Create backup"
Why do I want to do this? I save my notes in rtf format where I can do simple formatting which is not supported by txt files. I don't want to use docx files since they open in Word which takes some time to open. I only use them when I'm writing a story or something. I like the simple interface of wordpad for notetaking and so I've set the rtf files to open in wordpad as default. Please help.
You can create a new rich text file directly, which will give you the extension .rtf
Right click -> New -> Rich Text Format
We have a bunch of .prn files. These files dont open in Zebra Designer.
Is there a way to convert .prn to .lbl file so that they open in the designer software?
I tried renaming .prn to .lbl but the designer complains
Thank you
I think it is impossible: only a software made by Zebra could do it, because LBL files are binary and PRN are plain text. Unless the source code is open, there is no conventional way to do it, except using reverse engineering.
i want to open a doc file using Vbscript and then find a string which contain some value as in table format then copy that value and paste it on a excel file
I would recommend using VBA/Macros for this. For more information on VBA click here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/ff688774.aspx
A sample VBA macro that copies data from Word to Excel can be found here:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0a73df0b-096b-40eb-a65a-9b16bc6a57ed/need-macro-to-copy-text-from-word-to-excel-help?forum=word
If you go down the path of working with VBA/Macros, it is extremely helpful to turn on the Developer tab in the ribbon in office apps. You can turn this on by clicking File -> Options -> Customize Ribbon -> Then check the Developer box on the right.
I have created a macro enabled Excel Spreadsheet that will programmatically load a image from disk and load it into an ActiveX image control.
How to I remove the image? I want to remove the image from my testing the process. I do not need to create a script to programmatically remove it.
To clear out the picture manually:
Open the Visual Basics Editor and make sure you can View both the Project Explorer and the Properties Window.
In the Project Explorer select the Excel object or form the image control is on. (If it is a user form, you will need to double-click.)
The selected object should now be listed in the Properties Window. Click the drop-down box and select your image control.
Double-click the value for the Picture property so you have a blinking cursor.
Press Delete.
To remove the image manually, go into Design mode (View > Toolbars > Control Toolbox and click the "Design Mode" button). Right-click the control and choose "Properties". Click in the "Picture" property and backspace or delete until it says (None).
This assumes that the image is loaded into an Image Control on the worksheet and not on a VBA userform. You could follow mischab1's instructions if the control was on a VBA userform OR an image control.
And of course these instructions are for Excel 2003; the specific steps vary depending on Excel version.
I want to be able to edit an image (png file) from the resources folder of one of my projects in VS2008. But the resource editor in VS will only allow me to zoom in and out. As the images are 32 bit, VS also will not allow me to use the image editor toolbar to change this. I would like to know if anyone knows how i can edit the image via VS or an associated plugin that is safe to use with source control?!
Thanks in advance guys!
I'm unsure if VS has any built in image editing applications that meet your needs. However, for editing our image resources I've set it up so that the default application launched when selecting certain filetypes is Photoshop (or a different editor depending on the change required).
Changing the default opened program for a filetype can be done using the following steps:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hy2sthf1.aspx
As for source control safety, I use AccuRev with the AccuBridge plug in for VS. So anytime any of the files under source control are modified it is noted as such. Then these files can be committed as required either through VS AccuBridge plug in or through the regular source control client.
I don't think the VS resource editor supports editing PNG files (see this related question).
I'm not sure what you mean by "safe to use with source control" -- any image editor should fit the bill. Check out the file, locking it if necessary, then edit it with your favorite image editor, such as GIMP. When you're done, check in.
