You can very well do it by using WebApplicationInitializer(you dont need web.xml in this case)

I am using #Transactional (org.springframework.transaction.annotation) at the service method from where I call the DAO layer to fetch data from DB.
However, I am getting following error
org.hibernate.HibernateException: No Session found for current thread
on
sessionFactory.getCurrentSession()
I have added package scanning to different files as suggested by other posts.Still unable to get the error.

Calling the method via proxy would help and fix the issue.
Calling the same method from same class would not help transaction work.

The flow xml defination is locations in "WEB-INF/flows/accommodations/accommodations-flow.xml",
so my understand is that /accommodations should map to the flow.
When I point the browser to /accommodations I receive a 404.
What mistake am I making..?
I'm having a 'weird' issue in serving static content from my webapp using a Spring-Hibernate setup.
I have a (small) webapp that uses the DispatcherServlet to serve any url like this: /coverpage/* .The default servlet mapping is set to /static/*

In my jsp's the static content (images/js/css) is written like this:

I have 4 pages in the webapp: index.jsp, new.jsp, error.jsp and includes.jsp (which isn't an actual page, duh) and a mapping for /process which returns PDF content or validation-errors when entered incorrect data.
This setup seems to work fine in my webapp.
Now for the weird part:
I have deployed the same webapp on another Tomcat instance and changed the ports so they can run simultaneously and now the references to static content are only working half the time. Only the mapping for /new (aka new.jsp) can find the static content. The rest fails to load it.
Differences between the 2 instances
Tomcat version (original runs on 6.0.29, second instance runs on 6.0.33)
Tomcat ports
Database connection (original goes to PROD db, second instance goes to TEST db - both databases are the same)

The problem was with the Tomcat version. I tried to run the second instance on a newly downloaded 6.0.29 Tomcat instead 6.0.33 and it seems to work fine. I'm gonna go through the Tomcat changelogs to try and find what caused this... If I find anything, I'll report back here.

But I am getting this exception when I start the application. If I remove security configuration my spring web application working fine. I went through the same kind of questions in stackoverflow. But no luck.
I think that the reason of your problem can be in that your xml configuration file for spring security isn't loaded when you start your web app.
To fix this you should specify all your XML config files in web.xml like that:

If you have your config files in classpath (not WEB-INF folder or it's subfolders) then you can specify list of config files in such way;

...
And also you need to add special listener that will load your config files:

In case it helps anyone, I had renamed one of my packages but Eclipse doesn't auto-update your #ComponentScan paths, so make sure you change that too:

As of Spring Security 5.2.1-SNAPSHOT, this error occurred to me when I hadn't declared the <http/> element in security XML configuration.

I faced the same exception when learning the spring without xml.
Found that i have register the spring security filter by extending the class AbstractSecurityWebApplicationInitializer but did not configure the spring security.
To configure the spring security i added below code and it works.

I don't know nothing about Red5, but it seems like you trying to put Spring beans directly inside web.xml, which is wrong. You are suppose to create a separate Spring configuration file that will be picked up by Springs' ContextLoaderListener. First, add this to your web.xml:

Of course all the <bean/> declarations should go away from web.xml.
Second thought: looking at this document it seems like Red5 uses a file named red5-web.xml, please go through this documentation carefully.
