I am trying to create relationship between tables in modal in laravel 5.2,
but don't know how to implement this.
I have tried to use models but no success.
here is the code i have tried
public function assignee() {
return $this->belongsTo('App\Model\User', 'stocktake_batch_assignee', 'user_id');
}
use App\Models\User not App\Model\User
Suppose you have a model name Job and another model User like so..
Your Job model.
class Job extends Model {
public function assignee() {
return $this->belongsTo('App\Model\User', 'stocktake_batch_assignee', 'user_id');
}
}
Your User model.
class User extends Model {
}
Now if want all jobs with related user from your controller you can do..
public function getJobs(){
$jobs = Job::with('assignee')->all();
//Now return view or something..
}

I have 3 tables
User (id,name,mail,mobile)
Contest (id,contest_name,contest_description)
Contest_user (id,user_id,contest_id)
I want to write a has many contest user method in the contest model also I need the user details from the method.
Kindly tell me how can I get the desired result.
Model Screenshot
<?php
namespace App\Model\Contest;
use App\Model\Project\ContestUsers;
use Illuminate\Database\Eloquent\Model;
class Contest extends Model
{
protected $table = 'contest';
protected $fillable = ['name','description'];
public $dates = [
'created_at',
'updated_at',
'deleted_at',
];
//I want to get user details from this method
public function project_contest_users()
{
return $this->hasMany(ContestUsers::class, 'contest_id', 'id')->whereNull('deleted_at');
}
}
contest_user is a pivot table for users and contests and should not have a model class.
The nature of the relation between User and Contest is a many to many, so you need to use belongsToMany() relation in both sides
Contest.php
public function users()
{
return $this->belongsToMany(User::class);
}
User.php
public function contests()
{
return $this->belongsToMany(Contest::class);
}
From what you have done, based on my experience, it's already a good thing that you normalize the many to many relationship. But what N69S said is also correct, that pivot table should not have a Model class, so you need to make your own convention to not use the Model class to create/update/delete (read is fine by me) and if you still want to stick to this method, what you need to do now is just defining the relationships for each of the Models.
User.php:
public function contest_user()
{
return $this->hasMany(ContestUser::class);
}
ContestUser.php:
public function user()
{
return $this->belongsTo(User::class);
}
public function contest()
{
return $this->belongsTo(Contest::class);
}
Contest.php:
public function contest_user()
{
return $this->hasMany(ContestUser::class);
}
When I use User model to return the data I need it gave me list of objects with all the relations.
User Model
class User extends Model implements AuthenticatableContract, AuthorizableContract
{
use SoftDeletes, Authenticatable, Authorizable, HasFactory, Notifiable;
public function getNameAttribute()
{
return $this->last_name.' '.$this->first_name;
}
public function service(){
return $this->BelongsTo(Service::class);
}
public function group(){
return $this->BelongsTo(Group::class);
}
}
public function getUser($id){
return User::find($id);
}
How can i return only the user fields without the relation objects ?
PS: Am using laravel 8 + Vuejs + Inertia js
Laravel does not return any relation if you do not ask for it... if you are not using with and writing the desired relations, then you are not going to get the relations when you do User::find($id); as find is an alias of $model->whereKey($id)->first($columns)...
So it is not getting any relations... you have to explain more...
This is the source code so you can see what find means.
I am working on a Laravel project. I am using Eloquent to query data from the database.
I have the following models
Donation.php
class Donation extends Model
{
public function donator()
{
return $this->belongsTo(User::class);
}
}
User.php
class User extends Model
{
public function charities()
{
return $this->belongsToMany(Charity::class);
}
}
Charity.php
class Charity extends Model
{
public function donators()
{
return $this->belongsToMany(User::class);
}
}
I am writing a query on Donation model class and I am trying to query something like this. The query is just abstraction.
Donation::whereHas('donator.charities', function($query) {
$query->whereIn('charities.id', [ 1,2,3,4 ])
})
As you can see in the whereHas, I am applying the where clause on charities of donator. Is it possible to do that? How can I do that?
I hope this would be the answer of your question.
Donation::whereHas('donator',function($query){
$query->whereHas('charities',function($query){
$query->whereIn('id',[1,2,3,4]);
})
})->get();
I am trying to keep a relationship between two tables in my database.
Users Table:
Id User_id Name
Contacts Table:
Id User_Id contacts
I am saving multiple contacts in the contacts table. Now i want to retrieve all the contacts saved to the User_ID. For that, i am trying to establish a hasOne relationship but i get a error for the following code can someone let me know what i am doing wrong? I am following the official documentation for this.
User model:
class users extends Model
{
protected $table = "users";
public function contacts()
{
return $this->hasOne('App\contacts','User_Id');
}
}
Contacts Model:
class contacts extends Model
{
public $table = "contacts";
public function Users(){
return $this->belongsTo('App\Users','User_id');
}
}
Controller:
public function eloquentget(){
$contacts = Users::find(1)->contacts->first();
return response()->json($contacts,200);
}
When i try this code in postman i get an Exception :
ErrorException
Trying to get property of non-object
What am i doing wrong? Any help will be appreciated.
Since you are saving multiple Contacts for any given User then you are using the wrong relation. You need to setup a One-Many relationship using hasMany().
class users extends Model
{
protected $table = "users";
public function contacts()
{
return $this->hasMany('App\contacts','User_Id','User_Id');
}
}
Try something like this
class users extends Model
{
protected $table = "users";
public function contacts()
{
return $this->hasMany('App\contacts','User_Id','User_Id');
}
}
And on your controller, You can use it like this
$contacts= User::find(1)->contacts; // it will return an array of collection
You don't need to use ->first(); because you already used relation hasOne
just use :
$contacts = Users::find(1)->contacts;
return response()->json($contacts,200);
hi sorry bit of a newbie here but I am have three tables users, profiles, friends. they all have the user_id fields within them and I want fetch all of the fields in one statement using Eloquent and not DB::statement and doing the table joins.
How can I achieve this?
Try this
use the User class and the with method that laravel has to query model relationships
$user = User::with(['profile', 'friend'])->get();
Ensure your models has the correct relationships as follows:
app/models/User.php
public function friend () {
return $this->hasMany('Friend');
}
public function profile () {
return $this->hasOne('Profile');
}
app/models/Profile.php
public function user() {
return $this->belongsTo('User');
}
app/models/Friend.php
public function user() {
return $this->belongsTo('User');
}
use some thing like this:
You should define relations in your models with hasOne, hasMany.
class Review extends Eloquent {
public function relatedGallery()
{
$this->hasOne('Gallery', 'foreign_id', 'local_id');
}
}
class Gallery extends Eloquent {
public function relatedReviews()
{
$this->hasMany('Review', 'foreign_id', 'local_id');
}
}
$gallery = Gallery::with('relatedReviews')->find($id);
Will bring the object Gallery with
$gallery->id
gallery->name
...
$gallery->relatedReviews // array containing the related Review Objects
