Cannot access device (not in user datastore) - visual-studio-2005

I'm using Visual Studio 2005 to target Windows CE 5.0 and 6.0 devices. Up until yesterday I was deploying to a variety of devices without issue. However, this morning I was unable to deploy to one of my devices.
In Visual Studio, after selecting Tools > Options > Device Tools > Devices, my devices are all listed correctly. I can view the properties of all my devices (and the Delete button is enabled for all of them)...except the device I am now having trouble with. When I select this device, Delete is disabled selecting Properties shows this error:
Error retrieving information from user datastore. Property not found.
There have been no changes to either my system or Visual Studio that I'm aware of.

After struggling with this for some time, I found the following rather drastic solution:
Load the properties of one of the devices that is working and note down the (working) settings
Exit Visual Studio and all other VS tools such as Remote Registry Viewer
Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\corecon and rename the folder 1.0 to 1.0_backup
Reload the project in Visual Studio. You will see a variety of errors about a device listed as not being available in the datastore. Just keep going until all errors are acknowledged.
Exit Visual Studio
Return to the path mentioned above and rename the folder 1.0_backup to 1.0
Reload the project in Visual Studio. You will notice that all your devices have been lost.
In Tools > Options > Device Tools > Devices copy the default Windows CE 5.0 Device and enter the properties noted in the first item in this list
Repeat for any other device you need to deploy to (typically to enter the IP address for the device)
You can now deploy to devices as normal
Hope that helps anyone who has a similar problem.

Why is there no Remote Machine option underneath the start menu in my Visual Studio 2019 Community version

I had the free trial for the Visual Studio 2019 Enterprise version. Now that it has run out, I am trying to run my build from Unity using that .sln file in visual studio using the community version. I need to use the remote machine option because I am trying to deploy it to the HoloLens. I already tried rebuilding the unity project but I still had the same problem. Is it because when I created this Unity project I was using the enterprise version and now it can't translate the same way over to the community version? Does the community version not have the remote machine capability? I've attached a picture below of what I mean by "the start menu." Back in the enterprise version I would press that little down arrow to expand the Start menu and I would press "Remote Machine," but that option is no longer there when I try to run a .sln build from my Unity project.
Are you sure you have selected the correct project for the startup project? If you have a mistake in setting the startup project, there will only be a Start option under the menu. You can change the startup project from the Solution Explorer, right-click the desired project and choose Set as StartUp Project from the context-sensitive menu that is displayed.
If you still get this issue, can you see the Remote machine field under Project settings’ Debug tab: Configure the project for remote debugging
If yes, you just need to enter the network name or IP address in the Remote machine field, or select Find to search for the device in the Remote Connections dialog box.
If not, I believe you need to repair the VS installation.
I had the same problem. I put my machine in "developer mode" via the Settings and then opened my project in VS 2022. I'm now able to see the "Remote Machine" option.

Is it possible to open a project with Visual Studio from different machines?

Earlier I asked a question, which has now been deleted. It was asked me of to come up with some different wording to my question. I'm sorry, but in this case I don't know how better to ask it then I have. Here's what I said:
At work I've got a desktop with Windows 10 on it. Been working there
for 3 years. We using TFS 2015 with TFVC. Recently I was given a
laptop, but without enough disk space, so what I have done is on the
laptop I mapped a drive to the second drive on my desktop, where I
keep all of the Visual Studio projects I work on, that are in TFS. I
had hoped I could just open the project on the mapped drive from the
laptop to the D: drive on the desktop. But VS complained to me. So, is
it not possible to open the same project, on only 1 machine, but being
accessed both on the machine and by a mapped drive from another
machine?
Perhaps it would be best if I illustrated. On my desktop I have a project in my D: drive, so it's located in D:\Src\LRAT. Its in TFS 2015 and we're using TFVC on-premise.
On my laptop I've mapped the drive from the desktop, using D: on the laptop, as D was available. So, I get into VS 2017 on the laptop and try to open the project in D:\Src\LRAT on my laptop. However, trying to do that results in a warning message issued from Visual Studio (the complaint I mentioned earlier) which says:
Team Foundation Server Version Control
The solution you are opening is bound to source control on the
following Team Foundation Server:
http://ourserver:8080/tfs/defaultcollection. Would you like to contact
this server to try and enable source control integration?
This confuses me a lot! I know that its in source control. Why is it asking me if I want it in source control? I want to be able to open it and use TFS/TFVC from my laptop against the same files and folders that are on my desktop. The dialog box that warning pops up in has 3 buttons, Yes No and Help. Clicking Help sends me to a very unhelpful link about Git and VSTS. I don't know what will happen if I click the Yes button, because that project on my desktop is already in source control, so I just click No because I don't know what else to do.
So, this leads to ask is it the case that in some way I don't yet understand opening a project created in VS 2017 and saved to TFS under TFVC on my desktop is different than opening that same project from my laptop connected to the D: drive on my desktop?

This kind of pop-up info, usually indicate there are some mapping issue related. Please double check your workspace mapping first.
Besides you could also try to connect your project in Team Explorer -Visual Studio follow below steps:
1 View->'Team Explorer'
2 'Manage Connections' (green plug)
3 'Manage Connections' (drop down) -> 'Connect to Team Project'
4 List of projects shows up from your account.
5 Select Project and Connect

Visual Studio 2015 Xamarin tools

I created a solution in Visual Studio 2015 using the Xamarin project type. During the initial creation, it did something to my network settings. I figured it was just doing what it needed to do to pretend to be an android phone or something. However, now every time I reboot my computer I have to go to my network settings and repair the connection or I can't use the internet.
Google search has so far been less than productive.
Does anyone know what I can do to permanently repair this issue?
so this required resetting my whole ethernet setup. I used this guide: Digital Citizen network reset guide. The gist of it is this:
Open the Settings App in Windows 10
Enter the "Network and Internet Settings" category
Select the "Status tab from the left-hand side.
Select the "Network reset" command from the page that's displayed.
You will be prompted to restart your computer. Click yes to all the options and make sure your work is saved. Restart your computer if it doesn't do so automatically.
I do not know if Visual Studio will mess this up again.

Unable to open axml with design view with Visual Studio 2015

I created a new android layout file using visual studio 2015 and am unable to view with the designer that is built in to visual studio.
After selecting 'design' tab, I just see a waiting icon in the center of the view and it never finishes. After a while, i have to close the design tab and open in xml editor. The form is valid as it runs fine in emulator.
ideas?
I was able to resolve after uninstalling all platforms using Android SDK Manager and re-installing each platform 1 by 1. If there is an issue with the installation nothing will be installed (note: watch the logs for errors and review after each platform is installed)
Initially, I did have to manually download SDK Manager and copy the tools folder to my existing installation. I am not sure why my Tools folder was empty but after performing this step I could again run SDK Manager.

Visual Studio : Language Service Error

I'm trying to compile a project I have in Visual Studio 2010. It has built fine on 2 other computers with Visual Studio, but on this computer, it will not compile, and returns:
"The property could not be read/written because the language service returned an unknown error"
Obviously, I have tried googling, and nothing of any use came up, so some help would be great.
Additional Information:
Project is an XNA 4.0 Project
Trying to deploy the solution to a Windows phone. The phone is plugged in, unlocked, etc. and other projects will deploy successfully to it.
I've run into the exact same error message when I tried editing the AssemblyInfo.cs using VS 2010's Assembly Information dialog from within the project properties (open Properties -> Application from below the given project).
As this thread suggests, I deleted the AssemblyInfo.cs file and filled in the values I wanted in the dialog box which created a new and working AssemblyInfo.cs. Maybe this would help/would have helped in your scenario as well.
Note, that you'll get a fresh and valid GUID if you simply click save after opening the dialog.
I encountered this today in VS 2017. It went away as soon as I performed a build which fetched all my references.
