HTTP Status 404 Apache Tomcat 7 - spring

I'm learning Spring. I created a spring mvc project. If i write these lines in root-context.xml:
<context:component-scan base-package="com.jaive.test.dao" />
<context:component-scan base-package="com.jaive.test.service" />
<import resource="data.xml" />
then i get HTTP Status 404. If not, everything works fine. I want to know about these lines and why this happenning. I use Apache Tomcat 7.
data.xml:

Hikari configuration in xml for Master/Slave Datasources

Presently I have a datasource configured using Hikari in my applicationContext.xml. I want to configure in the same xml file for a master/slave kind of datasource.
Also how do I establish a new entity manager factory in the same ?

Spring & Hibernate - Error when using #Transactional

I have an application setup based on a previous configuration - which was 100% functional. Now I am using maven and am encountering an Error in my controller class which says i must configure Beans.xml.
I'm not sure exactly what this means, as I have my dispatcher-servlet.xml configured in the same way as the functional application.

Spring #Transactional not committing records

I use Spring with Hibernate. I am using following configurations. When I try to save through Spring transaction, the record never commits.

}
MyDAOClass
public void save(Item item){
session = sf.openSession();
session.save(item);
session.close();
}
The above #Transactional configuration not committing the record. But if I remove #Transactional from spring controller and use Hibernate transaction as below, the record commits.
public void save(Item item){
session = sf.openSession();
Transaction tx = session.beginTransaction();
session.persist(item);
tx.commit();
session.close();
}
This class commits the record.
I've gone through some forums and it's mentioned that #Transactional will take care of committing records. What mistake I am doing here? Can someone help?
Thanks in advance.
It worked after I have added <tx:annotation-driven /> annotation to my configuration xml & removed hibernate.current_session_context_class from hibernateSessionFactory bean. Given the changes below.

I am getting An AnnotationConfiguration instance is required error. I have searched it on net but not able to solve this. I have the run configuration. I am using hibernate 3 and spring 3.1 JARS. Kindly help
daoin
<context:component-scan base-package="com.rights.controller" />
you seems like you forgot the package of your repository you should add it using :
<context:component-scan base-package="com.rights.controller com.rights.dao" />
in the configuration you posted, the class with annotation #Repository may not be post-processed by spring, if it package is not include in the component scan
I hope it may help you
