I'm currently trying to set up an environment for Yocto project for my personal study.
I was clueless about where to start Yocto so I bought the book Embedded Linux Projects Using Yocto Project Cookbook but it keeps failing to build the environment.
I've run only simple commands. I ran source oe-init-build-env <dir name> to make a directory and ran bitbake core-image-minimal.
But bitbake command keeps giving me errors like this. This is the log.

I feel like I need to modify conf files to fetch available URLs but I'm new to Yocto and Bitbake so I'm very lost now. I would appreciate if anyone could tell me where to find solutions. Thank you and stay safe everyone.
You seem to use quite an old yocto version 1.7.3 while there is already 3.3 released. This means also you try to build recipes for some packages that are also old and hence some URLs might be unavailable. Might it be an option for you to use a newer version?
If this is no option for you, one thing to try would be setting MIRROR (see [1]) to a mirror [2] where those packages are still available. But this approach I would not prefer.
[1] https://www.yoctoproject.org/docs/1.7/bitbake-user-manual/bitbake-user-manual.html#var-MIRRORS
[2] could be: http://downloads.yoctoproject.org/mirror/sources/
1.7.3 is a very old release of the project, originally released in 2015 with a last point release in 2016. The fetcher warnings you see aren't the problem, they're warnings but it will fall back to the project mirrors. If it hadn't fallen back correctly, it would have shown errors as well as the warnings. The bigger problem is in fact this:
WARNING: Host distribution "Ubuntu-18.04" has not been validated with this version of the build system; you may possibly experience unexpected failures. It is recommended that you use a tested distribution.
Since Ubuntu 18.04 is three years newer than the project release you're using, there is no way it would be compatible with that release. You need to use a host OS from the era of the release, so Ubuntu 16.04 may work better. This is because the host OS provides gcc used to build the cross tools and the newer gcc versions don't tend to work with 100% of old code without tweaks.
So in short, use an older distro if you want to try and get that to build.

As I already wrote in my previous comment, the first error
Errno::ENOMEM: Cannot allocate memory
means that your system is low of phisical memory.
The second one
Errno::EISDIR: Is a directory
means that the file is a directory; and that you cannot open a directory for writing, or create or remove hard links to it.
More details below, but I'm running into the following error when I issue a composer install or composer update command on a project which uses a custom VCS repository for an included project. This is on an IBM i v7r3 system via SSH session. I've run out of ideas on how to troubleshoot further, so here I am. Has anyone ever seen this error or have any ideas on how to troubleshoot further?

I have a remote IBM i server which has two users. The first user "gitUser" is used for my private Git repositories (headless). I then have another user "sshUser" which is used to SSH in with and do my typical work. I have SSH keys configured to simplify connections for both users and the "gitUser" ssh key doesn't require a password, so I can use it for automated scripting.
I have a private VCS repository included in my composer.json file for a project. So long as I have the entry in the "repository" section I'm getting the above error. This occurs even if I'm not requireing a package from the repository.
Repository Entry:

Composer on the IBM i is up to date at 1.7.2.
It's clear the issue lies with git and the inability to find a dependency in libz.so.1.
However, if I follow the chain of dependencies for the version of Git in my path, all the appropriate files exist with adequate permissions:
bash-4.4$ which git
/QOpenSys/pkgs/bin/git
bash-4.4$ dump -X64 -H /QOpenSys/pkgs/bin/git
/QOpenSys/pkgs/bin/git:

4 libpthread.a shr_xpg5_64.o
5 libc.a shr_64.o
bash-4.4$
I can confirm there are no permission failures through out all of this. So this doesn't seem to be the result of inadequate permissions. Also, I do not think the issue lies within the user profile gitUser as if I issue a composer install or composer update from another machine (with appropriate keys), everything works flawlessly. So it seems to be specific to the IBM i and the sshUser profile.
I'm starting to think Composer is using a different git executable and the dependencies of that executable do not exist. Though I assume Composer would just use my path.
Note*: I tried specifying my LIBPATH in my ./.profile with the following. But it doesn't seem to make any difference:
LIBPATH=/usr/local/zendphp7/lib
LIBPATH=$LIBPATH:/QOpenSys/pkgs/lib:/QOpenSys/usr/lib
export LIBPATH
When echoing:
bash-4.4$ echo $LIBPATH
/usr/local/zendphp7/lib:/QOpenSys/pkgs/lib:/QOpenSys/usr/lib
bash-4.4$
If I don't add the above to my ./.profile, then echo $LIBPATH prints a blank line to screen.
Solution:
I just changed the symlink in the ZENDPHP7 directory structure to the repo version. Alternatively you can manipulate your library path, but I couldn't figure out the proper way to do it on IBM i.
bash-4.4$ pwd
/usr/local/zendphp7/lib
bash-4.4$ ln -s /QOpenSys/pkgs/lib/libz.so.1 ./libz.so.1
bash-4.4$ ls -la /usr/local/zendphp7/lib/libz.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 dl 0 56 Oct 11 14:21 /usr/local/zendphp7/lib/libz.so.1 -> /QOpenSys/pkgs/lib/libz.so.1
bash-4.4$
I'm guessing something is off with your path when you do the install. Is it maybe looking at the Zend PHP libraries rather than the expected ones in /usr/lib?
Notice that the errors shows a path of /usr/local/zendphp7/lib/ libz.so.1(shr_64.o) while your git dump instead shows /QOpenSys/pkgs/lib:/QOpenSys/usr/lib.
In trying to install the Epson JavaPOS ADK the program never finishes. Looking at the log file seems that the program is looking for files that do not exist, and therefore cannot manipulate them. After installation "completes" the file C:\opt\EpsonJavaPOS\Uninstall_Epson JavaPOS ADK_1.14.0.0\.com.zerog.registry is created. Not sure what I've done to mess this up.

for me, i found out that the installer does not play nicely with Java 8 and Windows 10. After I used Java 7 as the parameter for LAX_VM, it installed correctly. You may need to switch to another user if the installer keeps skipping installation steps though.

I'm tired of this shit... I tried slim and non-slim mode, I tried modifying cache size, nothing worked so far. Our server has 32 GB of RAM.
Where can I download latest osm2pgsql build for Windows 64-bit? Alternatively which compiler do you suggest to make my own build on Windows Server 2012 64-bit. Thanks.
The command I run osm2pgsql last time it crashed was:
PS C:\OSM\rendering> osm2pgsql -U postgres -m -d osm -p osm -E 3857 -s -C 25000 -S C:\OSM\osm2pgsql\default.style C:\OSM\Data\europe-latest.osm.pbf
It crashed with standard Windows dialog saying "the application stopped blablabla" with details:

Now I'm trying without "-C" option but I bet it will crash again...
PS C:\OSM\rendering> osm2pgsql -U postgres -m -d osm -p osm -E 3857 -s -S C:\OSM\osm2pgsql\default.style C:\OSM\Data\europe-latest.osm.pbf
Necromancing.
The latest build (Continuous Integration) can always be found on AppVeyor.
You need to get the current build (or in history a historic build by the git-commit hash).
https://ci.appveyor.com/project/openstreetmap/osm2pgsql
=> Environment arch x64
=> Artifacts tab
=> Donwload osm2pgsql_Release_x64.zip
The link might break, so if it does, you need to google "appveyor osm2pgsql",
it should usually be the first result.
