I made access database for inventory to my company and split it to front end and back end now i want to connect more than two remote pc by the same database.
Under the External Data Tab. The Access Button will allow you to specify the location of the file on the network. Choose link to the data source.
Short of using a server, you can use remote desktop etc., but you would have to have a free computer on the network for each remote user to run the front-end.

I am trying to figure a way of connecting 2 web server's file systems together so they can access each others files natively. The servers are Windows 2012 and connected directly to the internet via public IPs. One server will be for storing large files, the other for the scripts and database (web server).
Essentially, I need a way to securely map a drive/folder between these servers so they show as folders e.g. the "d:\www\assets" folder is actually on the other sever (junction). As this link needs to be accessible to the SYSTEM (apache service) not a single user, a mapped drive is not ideal. Open, unsecured shares are also not a good idea.
Playing with junctions and links in the console doesn't show any method to provide a login/password to the remote system. The junction is created but inaccessible. If I map a drive, it is only for that user and not available to the SYSTEM account that Apache is using. If I run Apache as a user and map a drive as that user, it likely won't survive a reboot or work without being logged in on the console all the time.
Are there any native ways to hook these 2 servers together securely? I have full admin access on both servers and can create as many users as required, but they are not in a domain or potentially even on the same subnet.
You may be able to use to a directory symlink via cifs/windows share considering you have have access to the local disk on one of the servers and the your sharing the the folder you want to symlink
for example:
on server a:
1. navigate to server a's local disk: d:\www\
2. mklink /d assets \serverb\assets
option 2DFS (unconfirmed)
if you can create a dfs on server on one user windows boxes, i believe you set dfs target to point folder assestes to \serverb\assets
I am using Windows 2012 R2 VM machine in Azure. I have read multiple article to setup Filezilla server in this environment. However, I am not successful. Any one faced this issue? Any solution will be greatly appreciated.
Just remember to add Filezilla to Windows Firewall :-)
I'm dealing with the same thing right now. locally the FTP serv works great. remote I cannot establish a passive connection. Based on my research this is because Azure is not set up for Passive-FTP. I am uncertain if we can get FileZilla to operate in a active-FTP mode. Will post back if I ever get to the bottom of it. Mine currently connects and authenticates but 'cannot retrieve directory listing' when it tries to kick over to passive (transfer) mode.
In addition to checking the Virtual Machine endpoints are open, be sure to also add the appropriate Windows Firewall rules if you have Windows Firewall enabled on your Windows VM.
Yes, We can connect to Azure server via FileZilla Client.
Steps:
Login to Azure portal: https://portal.azure.com
Click on App Services.
Select the Site and then click on Get publish profile.
Save the file and open it in notepad.exe.
The file contains 2 <publishProfile> sections. One is for Web Deploy and another for FTP.
Under the <publishProfile> section for FTP make a note of the following values:
publishUrl (hostname only)
userName --------------------------> This is the information you are looking for
userPWD
Add the PublishUrl to Hostname, Username and password in their respective fields.
Connected.
The link will give the detailed description of the steps flow with images.
Here is the link.

I need to use nodejs to write file to a password protected shared folder on a remote machine running Windows server 2008 r2, how can I do impersonation things within nodejs like .net app does?
Thx in advance!!!
PS:
Sorry for the unclear description. The folder is set to shared across the internal network on the remote windows server system, the folder is set to "readonly" for the windows account explicitly created by the admin. The nodejs server is on the same internal network and need to access the remote shared folder, thus I think nodejs need to impersonate the windows account on the remote machine to read contents from the shared folder. My question is how to do the sorry for the unclear description. Late to the party - but since there is no accepted answer...
You'll need to launch your node process using the account that has access to the network share. How this is done differs based on your setup. For example, if you're runnning node on a lLinux server trying to connect to the remote Windows server, then it's not going to be straightforward with node.
However; if you're running node on a Windows server, trying to connect to a remote share on another Windows server (which is what it sounds like your situation probably is). Again, you'll have to run your node script as a user with access to the remote share. If you need to do it from code, I'd suggest taking a look at my module node-windows. It doesn't provide remote share access specifically, but it will allow you to run command line code with a different account from within your node script.
Sorry if my question is confusing but what I am looking to do is this. I am creating an application that is supposed to send and receive files directly to another machine without having to connect to any other application but the windows explorer on another machine. I know you can write a client and server much like a FTP program, but that's not what I am looking for. An application simply connects to Windows or windows explorer on another machine for sending or receiving files.
I have looked or researched for information online, but not much to look at.
Is there a way to do this? If so, how.
MORE INFO:
I want to be able to start my application on a machine and send and receive files automatically from or to another local machine without establishing any direct connection very much like what Microsoft Window does. You open your windows explorer and drag and drop files from or to another machine. Only that I want to do that programmatically within my application. I start my application and simply request or send for specific file at a specific location. The way I have it written now you have to run two different copies of the same program on different machines - one as a server and the other as a client.
Maybe what I am looking for is a way to get access to the filesystem of another local machine without socket to socket connection.
Thanks in advance.
Windows Explorer is not an application that foreign programs can "connect" to. You need to connect to something that will actually be listening for connections. The most direct way would probably be to set up a network share on the server and then use WNetAddConnection2 to connect to that share on the client.
I'm wishing to use Visual Studio Load Tests to perform some load testing.
I was hoping to be able to use the counter monitoring that the Load Test provide in order to collect performance statistics from the web server I'm loading.
However there only seems to be support for connecting to machines you wish to monitor via your domain credentials. From http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms182594.aspx, section "To specify computers to monitor with counter sets during load test run"
On each server that you monitor, you must have sufficient user permissions to run performance monitors. Otherwise, errors are generated.
There seems to be no way to provide specific credentials to use to connect to machines you wish to monitor. As the web server I wish to monitor does not belong to a domain, I don't see any way to monitor it using VS Load Tests.
Is there some way to monitor it using VS Load Tests that I've missed?
There seems to be no way to provide specific credentials to use to connect to machines you wish to monitor
There is a way to do this. On Windows 7 it is called Credential Manager and you can access it either by searching for Manage Network Passwords on your Start Menu or via Control Panel > User Accounts. On older versions it was called Stored User Names and Passwords, also accessible via Control Panel > User Accounts.
In a nutshell, it allows you to specify alternative credentials for remote systems. Once you have set up credentials, it works completely invisibly and automatically for remote connection attempts from any application applications that support it, including Visual Studio collecting remote Perfmon data.
NOTE that you have to set up the credentials on the account that actually runs your load tests. If you are only running local load tests with no Controller then that's your own account. However if you run a Controller/Agent rig, the Controller may be configured to run under a service account (i.e. check the account running "Visual Studio Test Controller" service or QTController.exe). You have to login as that account and add the credentials.
I've found the following which is working for me. I'm just running the net use commands by hand because I don't want the user name and password in source control.
To get this working you will need to manually open an IPC channel to
the SQL and IIS machines with an account that has permissions in that
domain. This allows the account running the load tests to "piggyback"
across that IPC channel.
i have found this site to be a great help getting this going myself.
http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/tlingenfelder/archive/2009/06/18/performance-counters-timeouts-and-load-testing-with-visual-studio-2008.aspx
what you can do is create a small bat file and set it up to run in the
.testrunconfig file as a setup script.
net use \\SQLSERVER\IPC$ password1 /user:DOMAIN1\USER /persistent:yes
net use \\IISSERVER\IPC$ password2 /user:DOMAIN2\USER /persistent:yes
