Xamarin iOS - How to make sure messaging app is up to date? - xamarin

I have set background fetch to the app. But, It is not called all the time (it depends on how often the app is used by the user)
This is what want to do: When someone send a message to me, I need to make sure that my phone receives the message. Right now, I am using APNS (which works well is the phone is online and working). But, let's say the phone is off or internet not working, the user will never know that a new message has been received, unless he opens the app.
Is there anyway to make sure that, as soon as the user CAN be informed that a new message has been sent, a notification will be displayed on his phone? Right now, if the phone is off and a message sent, if I turn it on, nothing will happen.

How messenger works in sync with multiple devices

I am trying to introduce a messenger (chat) feature in my application.
I ma unable to figure out how to make the feature sync on multiple devices.
Let's say I am using the chat on my phone, and then I login to my desktop and start chatting there. How would I get the messages on both devices and how will both be in sync with each other. Additionally, for the sender to get a read confirmation, the message should be read from either one of the device, but the notification of unread should be shown on sender's device on which the message in unread unless he opens and reads it.
For First Part of the question you want to do Like FB Messenger where you loggin you will find your whole messages found not related to a device. To Achieve that you can have at the device app Last Login time which will be posted to the server, and all messages from that time will be retrieved to the user. But imagine the user has read all his messages from the mobile but he didnt open the computer since one Month. IF you didnt mark the message as read, he will find enourmous amount of messages coming as unread but he actually read on his mobile which will cause you huge usability issue.
For your Case I feel you need to do exaclty what FB Messenger does. Retrieve your latest messages from your conv with their actual status. And while scrolling up load by demand.
So Your Message will have only 1 Status(Read or UnRead) And date where you can match with Device Last Sync time.

Windows interactive notifications

So I want to know how a quickreply toast can be sent to the right person and when you click on it, it goes to the specific person.
Example 1:
Person A texts me, I pull down on the interactive notification and type my response and it gets processed by the background process. How does the applications know that my response goes to Person A. is there an attribute in the XML of the toast that can be a variable, like the phone number?
Example 2:
Person A posts a picture on my facebook, I click on the notification and it takes me to the page on facebook. Again is there an XML variable with a URL of it or something?

I think that you need Toast notifications:
Toast notifications are small pop ups that appear on the screen for few seconds. They convey messages and can be customized to even play different sounds. New to Windows 10 are actionable toasts where a user has a choice to interact with the notifications by use of a button, for example.

Windows phone SMS plugin with extra functions

I'm using the code from this article, with phonegap app.

The plugin works all fine, but when the SMS is sent, I want to return to my app automatically. Is this possible? If its possible to send an SMS without go to the default integrated sender, it could be even better.

there is no way to avoid the integrated SMS sender due to security reasons. User will return to your app after hitting the Back button on the SMS conversation page (that is esured automatically because of the stack-controlled nature of paging in WP7, but will not return after hitting the home button (again, this behavior cannot be prevented in any way) and your app will be suspended (possible to return to it by holding the back button and choosing it).

Receiving sms alerts

I have been asked to build an app for a user to receive text updates to his iphone while he reports traffic updates on his motor bike. Is there a way to code an app that will receive these text messages? Or is there an even simpler way of doing this? He doesn't want to give out his phone number.

Problem while Making a Call and SMS in same Process on Windows Phone 7

I am developing a application for Windows Phone 7 in which on a button click I need to first send some text messages and then make a call. But as both process are user dependent so I am not getting how should I make it such a way that unless user first finishes the sending messages my app should not initiate call. Because unless I do so it will give thread abort exception.

With the current SDK there is no way to know if the SMS was actually sent. It could also have been changed by the user before being sent!
Lots of people have asked for this functionality (or similar but for other tasks). Let's hope it comes in a future update.
I believe you can't do it in parallel, because WP7 isn't really multitask.
Do you really need to do it in parallel?
Search for the events deactivated and activated. They are in App.cs.
After you make a call, and back to the program, the activated event will detect it, so you can add code there to send SMS.
Done in reverse way. First make a call and then when user comes back after tombstoning send an Email...but flag manipulation need to be saved in isolated storage.
