Google Places API returns wrong results - google-places-api

This issue seems to have started today (2016-08-10) and is still ongoing as of this post. As of yesterday, the places api was returning correct results.
There seem to be 2 locations that are being inserted into api requests for all coordinate requests, these are:
Hôtel de Ville (Paris) (48.856924,2.3526841)
University of Illinois at Chicago Hospita (Chicago) (41.8696656,-87.6704474)
These places are added to all requests, no matter what coordinates or radius are provided.
Anyone else experiencing this, or is it some setting that I have enabled that is including these places by default?
This is the API in use
https://developers.google.com/places/web-service/search

This looks like a bug, the same results came back from a request near the origin: https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/nearbysearch/json?location=-0.75,-0.75&radius=100&key=YOUR_API_KEY
Please file a bug in the Google Maps API issue tracker:

Google Civic Information API inconsistently returning NYC City Council Members

I am working on an representative look up feature for my work's website. Everything is working fine, but we've noticed that when testing it out, some people's addresses are not returning their city council members.
I've checked out the normalized input field in the API response, and I do not spot anything that would prevent the city council member from being returned.
I tested out some addresses in the documentation here and noticed the issue there as well.
Has anyone else come across this issue with their local elected officials? I am wondering if I need to resort to using the Google Places Autocomplete API in order to submit an address consistent with what the civic info API is looking for.
Not sure what code I'd show to help solve the issue, but here is the request URL:
https://www.googleapis.com/civicinfo/v2/representatives?key=${civicAPIKey}&address=${this.activeAddress}

Google Places API OVER_QUERY_LIMIT

I'm working on a script which sends a few hundreds of API calls to Google Places API using the [nearbySearch]. After a few requests, I quickly get an OVER_QUOTA_LIMIT error.
In Google Cloud Console, I can see the requests made in the last days or hours but:
I'm a far cry from the 6 000 requests/minutes limit
I don't see any Quota Exceed Error in the graph
(https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/places#place_search_requests)
If I scroll down a bit, I can see that there's apparently a "Premium Plan", but no request have been made up to now.
Now I can see that the Premium Plan is not available anymore for sign up or new customers..
So I guess it's just a graph to support people who have previously signed for this plan but that it is not relevant in my case.
My payment settings have been set up correctly so I don't understand what's happening here.
Thank you so much.

Is there an API for extracting rubric grading data in Google Classroom?

I have read a helpful post for grades...
Is there an API for extracting grades in Google Classroom
and the API for grading...
https://developers.google.com/classroom/guides/manage-coursework#grade_student_responses
but haven't been able to see anything for rubric grading data yet. Or am I missing it?
Answer:
Unfortunately, at this time, there isn't a way of getting Rubrics from the Classroom API.
Feature Request:
There is already a report on Google's Issue Tracker which request this feature to be added to the API:
Add Rubrics to Classroom API
It appears that Google does seem to know about this and has responded on the above feature request. What you can do it hit the ☆ next to the issue number in the top left on the aforementioned page - this lets Google know more people are wanting this feature to be implemented and so it is more likely to be seen to faster.

Google Places API and Measurement of Quota Requests

I wonder if someone else has experienced the same issue, and might have an answer to it.
I am using the Google Places API. There I do two kinds of requests
https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/textsearch/
and
https://maps.googleapis.com/maps/api/place/details/
After I have done about 20,000 of these requests my Quota of 150,000 has been eaten up, and I do get an error message.
The strange thing is, when I look at the Google API Console I can see the following:
In the API & Services Section I can see the following (which reflects the real requests I have done)
and in the IAM & admin section I do see a much higher value
This looks artifically high, and is limiting the service way to early.
Does anyone else have the same issue?
I figuert out, why there is this difference in request in the API view and requests in the Quota view.
When using the TextSeach Places API, each text search request, will be multiplied by a factor 10 towards your free contingent.
it is mentioned at this page:
TextSearchRequests

user_ratings_total No longer available in google places API. Alternative for getting total number of reviews?

As of today (5/25/2016) there seems to no longer be data for user_ratings_total in the Google Places API. I use this to get the total number of reviews for a business. Is there an alternative method to getting this data?
If you would like Google to reinstate the previously undocumented user_ratings_total result key (or something similar), then please go to: https://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=3484 and add your vote for this feature to be officially added.
This issue was "Acknowledged" by Google way back on Jun 3, 2013 and is still open as such (other similar issues like https://code.google.com/p/gmaps-api-issues/issues/detail?id=9824 have been "closed" with status like "WorkingAsIntended").
Hopefully if we get enough up votes then maybe they will see the need and put it back in and make it official (as opposed to undocumented).
(Unfortunately I couldn't post this as a Comment as I just registered; so I'm going to post it as an Answer and hope it is okay.)
I'd try the Google My Business API, see in particular the documentation section Work with Review Data.
You'll need to Request access to the API.
This is fixed now. Reposting a comment from the issue linked to above by #TechLeadAA
The total amount of ratings is now generally available for all Places
API clients as part of the Basic SKU:
https://developers.google.com/places/web-service/details#fields
https://developers.google.com/places/web-service/place-data-fields#basic
Places API: user_ratings_total
Places SDK for iOS: GMSPlaceFieldUserRatingsTotal
Places SDK for Android: Place.Field.USER_RATINGS_TOTAL
I'm facing the same issue, and it looks like total number of reviews from Google Places API is not the same as Google My Business API:
