Several i came to the Issue ,In Development Environment when i use to Run the Project .Error Says
Port '4131' is already being used by another application .Note that it can be any port '4131' is just for the ref.
I Generally use to switch to another port .But this is not the Solution ,what i believe .Because it happens now a days frequently .
I want to know how to release the Port already being Used ,Forcefully .As i know this port is Unnecessary Reserved .
These issues generally comes due to following reason which i faced :
Port is used by other process and reserved .
Port is Not released by the last same process.
I Recommend following Approaches :
Changing the Port is the best idea .
Restart your system ,this will release the port in use .
Today i do face same ,after doing multiple R&D find these solution ,Feel like sharing the same.

I am learning to work with CouchDB and I am usually making Ajax calls in order to communicate with my database. I started getting '
Cross-Origin Request blocked
' and as the reason
Access-Control-Allow-Origin
, so I decided to work with CouchDB through HTTPS and not the standard HTTP. For that, I have followed the instructions given on Link to manual.
Problem on Linux:
I first tried to set it up on my laptop where I use Linux. But I couldn't find the Local.ini file where I was supposed to set the paths to the certificates.
After unsuccessfully trying to find a solution for it, I gave up and started from the beginning on my computer, where I use Windows.
Problem on Windows:
So I installed the newest version of CouchDB on my Windows, I have created the certificates, found the Local.ini file, did everything as it is explained in the manual. The problem was that I couldn't restart CouchDB so that the changes would take place. So, after google-ing the problem, I found a possible solution, to stop CouchDB through the Task Manager->Services-> Stop Apache CouchDB. But when I tried to Start it again I get the problem
Windows could not start the Apache CouchDB on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specification error code 3.
I would be very happy if someone could help me with my problem(s). I prefer getting a solution for the Linux problem since I work mostly on my laptop, but I will be satisfied if I get it going even on Windows.
Thanks in advance
On Linux, you can add CORS to CouchDB with this package:

I have been using tfs with no problems on local network with port 8080. Then i decided to change the port.... why o why did i bother. I have had a terrible few hours trying to sort it. Searched goggle for fixes etc. I think i now have it working but only after reall problems, this then makes me wander and worried about how to from visual studio 2012:
have a local area network conenction to tfs: servername:9876
remote connection: domain name: domain.com:9876
both of which map to the same folders on pc/ laptop and same projects on tfs server.
This caused masses of problems, i then delete the server and re added the correct one. Deleted all cache and workspaces. But then i couldnt map to location as it existed. then couldnt create a new worksapce it said it existed even after delteing the cache. In the end i delete all again, chose a new location on pc for to pull down solutions in tfs. This worked but i am afraid if i look at the solution file in notepad the server port is 8080 still even though the server is now 9876. Based on the above 2 questions what should i do next time. Or even should i still do to make sure all is clean and tidy.
I must have this wrong as it cant be so hard to change the port nunmber of the server or even the server name its self.
thanks
TFS also registers your workspaces and machine names on the server. Run tf workspaces from the command line to figure out which and tf workspace to remove them. That should unblock you. Renaming your local machine (the client machine), or mapping to a different location on your local disk will unblock you.
You should use one single machine name, both locally and remote for the TFS server or map them as if they were different servers. Using both server names completely screws up the local cache, since the API will figure out that they're actually the same server because the Project Collection GUID and the Server ID match.
You could even use a line in your hosts file to be able to always use the same machine name.
I can't find the definitive piece of documentation that tells you to use the same name for all locations, but this blog post comes close. Architecturally, there are no changes between 2010 and 2012.
Windows 7 64 bit Machine.
I'm trying to Install Oracle Database 11g express edition. I've used it many times in the past with no problem. Recently my work machine was rebuilt, and while trying to install oracle, on the step that shows TNS port, MTS Port, and HTTP Port, it will not accept the default 1521 port, or any other port I try (I've tried quite a few). Message box says "Port 1521 is in use. Specify a different port number. This port is not in use that I can tell.
I don't see a log for the install either, I looked on line to see where it should be, but I don't have a log file for the installation (That I've been able to find)
netstat -na does not show any of port's i've tried to be in use. I also tried grepping for them.
netstat -na | grep 1521 (This did not return anything)
Wondering if anyone else has seen this, or has any ideas how to get around this or trouble shoot it? I've never had this issue before.
Thanks for any guidance.
Had this same problem. Regardless of what port i put, it would say "port already in use'. Solution was to change to a port known to be open, then click the back button on the installer until you get back to the first installer screen, then continue clicking next. This will install on your specified http port.
I think it's a bug from the install wizard too. I've Windows 8 64 bits. "Back and Next" is the solution.
I had the same. I think it's a bug from the install wizard.
In fact, like you i specified an available port (after a check with an netstat command on line), then i had this warn screen wwith the message "Port 8081 is in use. Specify a different port number".
The thing is, when you have this screen, try to go back to the beginning of the install wizard,
then go next from the beginning to the part "Specify Database Port" and by magical when you insert the same port : you manage to access at the next step.
Bye!
try running the setup from a local drive. i think you are running the setup from a mapped drive or usb or something like that. hopefully you managed anyway already ;)
I'm playing around with a WCF service.
The problem I'm having is that VS2010 keeps randomly assigning a new port number to it when starting the VS Development Server even though I have set it to a specific port through the project settings.
If I keep stopping and starting VS Development Server for a few times with this problem, I get an error that says Unable to launch the ASP.NET Development server because port 'xxxx' is in use.
Why is this happening?
edit: It was suggested that this could be caused by the Dev Server not stopping. Unfortunately, it happens on a freshly started computer as well, i.e. when no instances of it are running at all.
Also, after I get the error message, it doesn't matter if I change the port, or select the Auto-assign Port option. The result is the same.
I have seen it sometimes and it seems that the webserver doesn't stop at times. So next time you fire up your project, the previous server is running at the same port.
The solution is to explicitly close the previous one and retry.
On the project properties of the web app project (right click and select Properties) Web tab, change the radio button to 'Specific Port' from auto select. That should make the port number totally consistent.
It turns out that the problem was linked to the issue answered at Visual Studio Development Server using wrong port.
I didn't suspect this to be the cause because I didn't have a blanket problem. I could launch the WCF solution at times, but not at certain other times. I could also run an instance of the Dev Server for an MVC solution with a specific port applied without problems.
on some Windows PC, when I have both easyPHP and a standalone apache service configured on another network port and with a specific service name, I have a problem : when I stop easyphp, the other apache is stopped too.
The problem do not occur on all PC I have, but seems very strange to me.
Any idea?
more information after answer from Radar : my process have a special name (ecapache), but easyphp does not seems to use process but rather lauch directly the servers.
Thanks
Cédric
Maybe how it's killing it is that it's finding all processes called "apache" or similar and just killing them, regardless of if it 'owns' it or not.
i think Both are integrated together, i was not occur in all PC because of port number.
