Unable to install MSU package on Windows server 2008 R2.

OS: Windows Server 2008 R2
How to solve this error?
I am puzzled, I thought I had my NSIS installation packages tested and working on Windows 7 32Bit and 64Bit.
Today I get failures to run on:
my Laptop PC (Windows 7 Pro 32Bit SP1)
VMWare Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit SP1
Successful running on
VMWare Windows 7 Home Premium 32Bit
Windows XP Pro SP3
The installation goes as expected.
Running the application has the Error Message:
Component '---.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.
At this point the flagged reference files include: MSCOMCT2.OCX, RICHTX32.OCX and threed32.ocx .
The install process places the reference files and manifest files in the install folder.
This 'Everything needed' is achieved by including manifest files (reg-free COM),thus, refraining from use of the PC Registry.
e.g.:
File "C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSVBVM60.dll"
File "D:\Devlpmnt\LANG\VB6_dllManifest\MSVBVM60.dll.manifest"
I thought sure that I had successfully tested the VMWare Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit SP1 installation, August 2013.
The only difference, I can think of, is that all of the failing Win7 platforms have 'Service Pack 1'.
Could the 'Superfetch' mentioned in:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vistacompatteam/archive/2006/11/13/manifest-and-the-fusion-cache.aspx
have been added to Windows 7 by SP1 and be causing the problem? If so, how can I fix that?
I have installed ejabberd 2.1.11 on two machines, one with Windows XP SP2 and one with Windows server 2003 Standard edition. Both with VC++ 2005.
VC++ 2005 was already installed before starting the ejabberd installation.
I have manually locate and run erl.exe and in the eventViewer I got (in both machines):
Generate Activation Context failed for C:\Program Files\ejabberd-2.1.11\bin\erl.exe. Reference error message: The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.
and
Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.
Also when running erl.exe a pop-up window appears with the message: "C:\Program Files\ejabberd-2.1.11\bin\erl.exe This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
Also when I run ./ejabberdctl got the error:
"
Starting ejabberd...
./ejabberdctl: e:\bin\erl.exe: can't execute: (14001) Error 14001
" There is a problem starting Erlang. If the error you see is 14001, you need to install:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package
You can download that installer from www.microsoft.com
You can also check the ejabberd Administrator Guide "
But the Visual C++ 2005 SP1 is installed.
Anyone have a idea why this happening?
Thanks in advance for your time.

I am trying to run my build for my solution in VS.NET 2012 TFS but I am getting an error:
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Microsoft.Common.targets (2291): Task failed because "resgen.exe" was not found
I tried to install the latest Windows SDK 7.1 but it won't let me? Is there another solution for this except installing VS.NET on the build server?
I resolved this error on my TFS 2012 Build Server (Windows Server 2012) by:
Installing the Windows SDK from this link:
Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7 and .NET Framework 4
Rerunning the build.
You may need to check that the following Registry Key exists (per the Build error):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.0A\WinSDK-NetFx35Tools-x86
I need to install sharepoint server 2010 on my developer pc with 64bit windows 7 OS. I followed microsoft instructions on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869.aspx
Let me describe you on this. I copied all the files from the CD to my D: drive. Changed the config at D:\SharePoint Server 2010\Files\Setup and added the tag ''. Installed the prerequisites manually. Made specified changes to windows features, and run the setup.exe file. Selected 'Standalone' as installation type. The installation completed successfully.
While running configuration wizard, I got the message 'Configuration failed' saying 'Failed to create the configuration database'.
I had this happen to me when installed my local development for SharePoint. This link might be able to help. http://myspexp.com/2010/05/31/configuration-failed-when-installing-sp-2010-on-windows-7-failed-big-time-3
