I'm running into a strange issue with the Spotify API, specifically the Playlist search (using RSpotify::Playlist.find()). I'm providing a playlist ID and the owner's ID, but in some cases the owner's username has characters that require escaping.
This user for example: https://open.spotify.com/user/andy%3F%21
Their username is andy?!, which, when escaped, turns to andy%3F%21. However, when I try and retrieve one his playlists using the Playlist search, I'm getting a 404 error, Invalid username. I've triple checked, and I'm definitely providing the escaped character version of the username (using CGI.escape).
I also tried going to the Spotify Web API Console and andy%3F%21 works correctly there. Is this some bug with the RSpotify gem?

They say its a quickstart but idk lol
Any way I have attempted to connect to the google api with Ruby for an entire week and eventually said I am going to see if its easier with python, turns out it is not.
I have added my redirect URI in the Oauth Credential. I have tried using a web applications type, a desktop app, and a tv or limited input device.
All of them return errors.
Error 400: redirect uri mismatch
Error 400: Invalid Request
Couldnt Log you in, The browser you are using doesnt support javascript, please try signing in in a browser with javascript enabled.
It keeps trying to use a localhost uri even when its set to my authorized one in the json credentials....
Is there anyone who can help me just get a basic example connection to the API working I am starting to lose hope that it is even realistic to try and build on an API as chaotic as this has been in my research so far. Everywhere you go you see devs wasting 5 days on something that should take an hour.
Edits BELOW !!!!
This has been so confusing I had to just go to trying to make a basic api call and eliminate all of the chaos brought in by these deprecated dependencies.
I have moved to just trying to get data back using post man and this tutorial >> https://medium.com/kinandcartacreated/google-authentication-with-postman-12943b63e76a
I have successfully been able to generate an Auth token using ONLY an OAuth2.0 Credential that is of TYPE 'Web Application'
However when trying to hit this endpoint....
GET https://admin.googleapis.com/admin/directory/v1/customer/MY-CUSTOMER-ID/devices/mobile?projection=FULL
I get the following error...
I know that in the end I will need to have a service account for this application configured properly, however given the wild goose chase that this has been I have been putting it off to keep the experiment controlled.
I will be working hard on trying to demystify this service account authorization for the next 4 hours atleast...
I had some difficulty getting the "quickstart" going as well.
There are a few things that should be taken into account that, in fact, aren't clearly documented.
After setting up the credentials in the respective page in Google Console as indicated in the documentation, you should download the json file and save it to the same directory as the script.
Take note that the quickstart has its own local server that it starts up when you run it. You can set the port in this line in the script. For example:
creds = flow.run_local_server(port=3000)
Then when you configure your credentials in the project, you would set the redirect URI to http://localhost:3000/
It does require some patience, because as noted, it does sometimes take several hours until the credentials settings in the Console take effect!
https://developers.google.com/sheets/api/quickstart/python
Same as CptCook, in my case the port defined in the quickstart is set to '0', which causes the redirect_uri error.
Removing and using the default resolved the issue.
Rainmeter Gmail path pattern is like so
https://[your Gmail user name]:[your Gmail password]#gmail.google.com/gmail/feed/atom
yet i put my credentials in specified locations in RainMeter (all themes are the same end result for me) and I am getting a fatal error. Does this have to do with special characters in the password field? I've tried encoding them myself such as space is %20 and so on. any ideas why the feed is not coming through
I think I'm "a bit" late, but I will answer anyway. From my experience, you need to create a password for app (in this case, the web parser) from Gmail control panel. How to do this here. After that, you should be done.
I'm working on a reasonably fresh install of umbraco (7.1.8). I've only installed three plugins at the moment, so I don't believe they are the issue.
If I login using the id created during the install process, I can login fine. But now I want to start adding other users to allow them to add content, and I can't seem to get the users created so they can get access to the back end.
I've double and triple checked the passwords (even using the reset password and copy/pasting from one browser to the next). I've tried using both the email address and the login, but no joy in either scenario. I've tried to just make this first account an admin - no joy.
I opened the console and found this error on the console:
POST /umbraco/backoffice/UmbracoApi/Authentication/PostLogin 400 Bad Request 114ms
I'm hoping it's something glaringly obvious, but I can't see it for the life of me.
Had a similar issue a while back in version 6 where members created programmatically would not be able to login once they updated their email address. Had to ensure that the login was the same as the email address in order for them to login the next time. It is rather confusing I must admit.
Ensure login field value of user = email address field value of user
I am using google oauth 2 for authentication. (Installed application)
Right now when the user allows access in user consent screen, how can i retrieve auth code from the redirect uri without user involving in cut and copy paste auth code. How to read the auth code from the title bar?
In any Operating system a program can read titles from the windows of any other application ( including your browser ).
In order to help you I would need to know what OS you are using and what language you are using to develop your Google declared "Installed Application".
The following thread shows you how to get a list of windows titles in Java
How to get a list of current open windows/process with Java?
For installed application, you can use the special redirect_uri urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob, and the authorization code will be returned in the title bar of the browser, your app can read the title of the HTML page to obtain the authorization code.
The tile of page will be like this:Success code=AuthorizationCode
So you can check the webpage, if the title contains this string, you'll get code.
yes .. this can be done by using google service account. they will provide us a p12key and we can make use of it without any consent screen.
WHen you make calls to the new facebook API v2.0 you can no longer get the username, but you can get the app_scoped_id http://facebook.com/app_scoped_id/XXXXXXXXXXXXX. When pasted into a browser this turns into http://facebook.com/username, is there a way with ruby to turn id into a username?
