macOS x: boost .hpp not found compiling qt5 project with make - boost

I am trying to build an example qt5 project where Makefile is built with qmake. clang++ gives me this error:
fatal error: 'boost/numeric/ublas/vector.hpp' file not found
Since Makefile is generated by qmake, it is difficult edit the huge Makefile -I include paths to find boost header files ( which is in /usr/local/include/boost ).
Is there a way to specify additional include paths in qmake that would help?

Sure, you can add include paths to the qmake file using INCLUDE_PATH

CMake get dependent header files like gcc -M

I'm analyzing a CMake project and I want to get all the header files that a source file depends on. Is there a tool or a command like gcc -M or g++ -M to list all the dependencies of one file in the CMake project? It would be better if I could also get which Target each header file belongs to.
Of course I can’t use g++ -M directly because it can’t find some dependencies organized by CMakeLists.txt.
Since the cmake command will generate MakeFile, a tool or command for Make may may also work for me.
Check the build folder for your CMake project. For each target, CMake should generate a file called C.includecache. This file contains the include dependency information.
If, for example, you have a main.c file which is including the stdio.h and math.h headers. The C.includecache file will contain an entry like:

compiling SFML with cmake and mingw under windows

When i try to run cmake to build a project where i include the SFML library i get the following Error: SFML found but version too low (requested: 2.4, found: 1.x.x)
I downloaded only the source of the newest Version of the library (SFML-2.4.2). I than run cmake (with MinGW Makefiles) And build the binaries into the same folder.
I copied the FindSFML into an subfolder of my project.
After that i had the following folder structure

My CMakeLists.txt contains the following stuff:

I found that in cmake the entry CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX (which i dont get) is set to C:\Program Files (x86)\SFML so i put the library and the lib of SFML into C:\Program Files (x86)\SFML. (what is that CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX and should i realy always copy the library and lib folders into my C:\Program Files (x86)\ ??). Now my cmake runs through but when i try to compile the code i get a lot of undifined references to '_imp__....'
By the way on linux i just installed SFML via sudo apt-get install libsfml-dev and it works out of the box.
You're confusing things. CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX is the default location where to put SFML when you build the install target (i.e. running make install). This has nothing to do with your other issues.
You don't have to install SFML (or any other library) somewhere under C:\Program Files. That's completely up to you.
What I found to be rather neat is installing MinGW to C:\usr (or creating a symlink to your installation folder) and also use that path for CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX when building SFML.
This way MinGW should behave pretty much the way you're used to from Linux (i.e. not having to specify paths for include dir or libraries etc.).
As for your undefined reference errors, you should create a new question only asking for these (and then include at least a few of them), as they have nothing to do with the installation directory.
Right now I can only guess, but it's most likely due to you using the wrong CMake variables for the linker. You won't notice this on Linux, since SFML will be in the default search path (which will also happen if you use C:\usr as described above).
To try fixing this, use this line:
target_link_libraries(${PROJECT_NAME} ${SFML_LIBRARIES} ${SFML_DEPENDENCIES})

GCC not using Boost folder include flag

I have a project that includes a library that uses boost 1.57, which is also included. However, the GCC compiler (default Xcode CLI tools v6.0 GCC version 4.2.1) does NOT pick up boosts include directory while it DOES pick up other directories. What is going on here?

So I know that the boost include library is there, the path is correct and even the header file for shared_ptr is there. Why is GCC not picking up my include folder path?
I have tested that the other include paths ARE being picked up (as they should) by removing all -I flags and re-adding them when GCC gave errors that it could not find them.
The curious thing is, that if i install boost with home-brew, and further change nothing, that my compile script just 'works', because homebrew probably links boost into directories that are searched by GCC by default. That's great, however, I don't want GCC to use the homebrew boost because it has to compile on a system that does NOT use homebrew. What do I do? Why is GCC pestering me by only excluding one include folder and not all the others? what kind of non-deterministic compiler automagick is going on here?
I am using OSX Yosemite 10.10, mentioned Xcode developer tools above. The other computer uses the same OSX and the same GCC (same Xcode dev tools).
You need to remove the last element (boost) from:
-I/Users/mtw800/experimentSuite/experiment/../HyperNEAT/boost_1_57_0/boost/
Given source files use #include <boost/whatever.h>, the preprocessor expects to find the boost sub-directory when it searches that include directory.

Getting CMake to find flex on Windows

I am trying to use flex on a project and I am trying to use CMake to link flex with my project. I found a FindFLEX.cmake online which I am using for this. You can find it here. This was supposed to be in CMake by default, but I dont think it was. My directory structure is as follows

FLEX_TARGET is supposed to be provided by FindFLEX.cmake when it finds the Flex package. Running the following command in build/ directory didnt find the flex packages

Then I added the prefix and that worked partially

That found the executable flex.exe , but not the library. The relevant portions of FindFLEX.cmake is shown below

I figured out what the problem is. On Windows, cmake is looking for libfl.lib. But the Windows installation of Flex provides only libfl.a So I needed to add these two lines to my cmake
LIST(APPEND CMAKE_FIND_LIBRARY_SUFFIXES ".a")
FIND_LIBRARY(FL_LIBRARY NAMES libfl fl DOC "path to the fl library")
The first line adss .a to list of suffixes searched for libraries, and the second line looks for libfl. That worked

crtbegin_so.o missing for android toolchain (custom build)

I have compiled gdc together with gcc using the android build-gcc.sh script, and have included a new stub in build/core/definitions.mk to deal with D language files as a part of the build process. I know things are compiling OK at this point, but my problem is linking:
When I build a project, I get this error:
ld: crtbegin_so.o: No such file: No such file or directory
This is true for regular c-only projects as well. Now I ran a quick find in my build directory, and found that the file (crtbegin_so.o) does exist within the sysroot I specified when I compiled gcc (or rather, when build-gcc.sh built it).
What are some things I could look for to find a solution to this problem?
Would copying the files locally and linking directly to them be a decent solution in the
interim?
Why would ld (or collect2) be trying to include these for a gdc (D Language) linkage?
The issue arises on NDK r7c for linux as well.
I found that the toolchain ignores the platform location ($NDK_ROOT/platforms/android-8/arch-arm/usr/lib/) and searches for it in the toolchain path, which is incorrect.
However, as the toolchain also searches for the file in the current directory, one solution is to symlink the correct platform crtbegin_so.o and crtend_so.o into the source directory:
cd src && ln -s NDK_ROOT/platforms/android-8/arch-arm/usr/lib/crtbegin_so.a
cd src && ln -s NDK_ROOT/platforms/android-8/arch-arm/usr/lib/crtend_so.a
Thus your second point should work out (where you can do a symlink, instead of a copy)
NOTE 1:This assumes that the code is being compiled for API8 (Android 2.2) using the NDK. Please alter the path to the correct path as per your requirement.

I have found that adding --sysroot=$(SYSROOT) to the compiler options fixes the error:

In my case quotes were missing from sysroot path.
When I changed
--sysroot=${ANDROID_NDK}\platforms\android-17\arch-arm
to
--sysroot="${ANDROID_NDK}\platforms\android-17\arch-arm"
the project was compiled and linked successfully.
I faced with the same issue in two separate cases:
during building boost for android
during using android-cmake project.
Once I have switched to standalone toolchain issue gone, here is example of command which prepare standalone toolchain
