codeigniter page not found showing but working fine in local server.
I had uploaded codeigniter file of one basic simple page on live server but there it is showing no page found and same file it is working on local server.
In that I had
mine.php ---- controller
index.php --- view
I loaded in routes default controller - mine in config base url- domain.com removed index.php also

can I know please why it is showing page not found, might be some routing issue but I had loaded default controller also. Please help out on this
First of all start error logging properly so you can see the actuall error.
Change your file name's first letter capital. This is mendetory as explained here ci3 manual - controllers. It says class name as well as file name must start with capital. ( If your Dev machine is windows then it will not show errors if you don't follow this rule. Because window's file system is case insensitive. But on your server it is linux.so it will show error)
If you still don't get it working then try access the url with index.php in it. Temporaryly disable .htaccess .If you get it working then may be you have problem in . htaccess. Try the following link to properly remove index.php from your url. Expression engine forum .This htaccess worked for me on all different server I have used.
add this in .htaccess file

Google discovered that I'm allowing end users to navigate my content using ajax loading, and is loading my pages as a user client rather than requesting them as new page loads. So instead of trying to index www.mysite.com/page, it's requesting www.mysite.com/?_escaped_fragment_=/page
Which is not at all what I want it to do. My snapshots are served at the same URL as the ajax-loaded content. The site is not using queries, it's not supporting them and I don't want to build that support. This means that all the pages look broken to google which of course is unfortunate!
Currently all page requests are redirected server side using .htaccess sending requests to the index.php file which in turn compiles the html doc on the server before serving to the client. The site serves perfectly valid and unique html documents for all pages. But google insists on doing it the ajax way and adding the query which always returns a broken page.
I'm not a .htaccess expert, but it seems to me that the easiest way to solve this would be to rewrite the request, remove the ?_escaped_fragment_=/ bit and permanently redirect any such requests to what currently works which is to load the pages using their correct url's.
Anyone know how I would go about doing that? Below is the current redirect part of my .htaccess file which needs to be amended with the _escaped_fragment_ stripping code:

This is how I rewrote it so that all ?_escaped_fragment_=/XXXXX requests got redirected to /XXXXX without the query
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} ^_escaped_fragment_=(.*)$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%1? [L,R=301]
This makes www.domain.com/?_escaped_fragment_=/somepage redirect (permanently) to www.domain.com/somepage
...which is just what I wanted.
Hi i am using apache on mac, i have enabled php. I am trying to rewrite my url using .htacess.
http://localhost/~username/project/test to http://localhost/~username/project/index.php?url=test
But received 404 error - on retrieving url - http://localhost/~username/project/test .
But - this - http://localhost/~username/project/index.php?url=test - Php is working fine.
My .htacess file contains these five lines:

I can see mod_rewrite in loaded modules in php info. How I can debug this to find out whether .htaccess is being called or not.
Path of my .htaccess file is - ~username/Sites/project/.htaccess.
From Troubleshooting
Make sure that you don't have a AllowOverride None in effect for the file scope in question. A good test for this is to put garbage in your .htaccess file and reload the page. If a server error is not generated, then you almost certainly have AllowOverride None in effect.
Or the other way round, add some garbage to the htaccess, i.e.
Foobar
and reload the page. If you get some 500 server error message, htaccess (AllowOveride) is enabled.
I have a simple file mydomain.com/business_nottingham.html
and i want to re-write that to an SEO friendly URL, eg mydomain.com/business-nottingham/
I've googled all the examples but they seem to be designed for either CMSes or PHP scripts.
Is there a simple .htaccess re-write example available that allows me to do something very simple as above?

However, it's still not quite working. If i enter the tidy URL, i get re-directed to a 404 page, but putting in the exact .html file name gets me to the right file but doesnt present me with a clean url.

You want to redirect only when the actual request is for an .html file, then you want to internally rewrite to the html file. The way URLs resolve is the browser shows where it thinks it's going (URL in the address bar), then the request is made to the web server. If the webserver (where the htaccess file is) wants to change what's in the browser's URL address bar, it needs to tell the browser to literally load an entirely different URL. The browser will then request the new URL. Then the server must internally rewrite that URL back to where the actual resource is (the first URL), but the browser doesn't see this happen.

I am new to CodeIgniter. I have an XAMPP server on Windows 8. Everything is fine, but the problem is about my URL, it doesn't look friendly. It looks like localhost/ci/index.php/site/home (where ci is my root folder for CodeIgniter). I want to make the URL more clean, like localhost/ci/home, how can I do it?
My CodeIgniter version is 2.1.2.
I have done some research already, but in most of the cases it says to change the .htaccess file of CodeIgniter. But I have nothing in the .htaccess file; it's empty, except the line "Deny from all".
You can do this, in config/config.php:

If it is not working yet, use a phpinfo(); and check if mod_rewrite is enabled. If it is not enabled, you can follow the instructions in Stack Overflow question How do you enable mod_rewrite? to enable that.

I am a beginner in Codeigniter and I saw a CI tutorial and was just trying to do a simple thing. I downloaded the CI and added this file to controller directory, but it won't work.

When I try to access it using http://..../index.php/site I get the output ... "no input file specified" .... by the way, I named the file site.php

I just changed the .htaccess file contents and as shown in the following links answer. And tried refreshing the page (which didn't work, and couldn't find the request to my controller) it worked.
Then just because of my doubt I undone the changes I did to my .htaccess inside my public_html folder back to original .htaccess content. So it's now as follows (which is originally it was):

RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|images|css|js|robots\.txt|favicon\.ico)
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

And now also it works.
Hint: Seems like before the Rewrite Rules haven't been clearly setup within the Server context.
My file structure is as follows:

And in the index.php I have set up the following paths to the system and the application:
$system_path = '../gheapp/system';
$application_folder = '../gheapp/application';
Note: by doing so, our application source code becomes hidden to the public at first.

My site is hosted on MochaHost, i had a tough time to setup the .htaccess file so that i can remove the index.php from my urls. However, after some googling, i combined the answer on this thread and other answers. My final working .htaccess file has the following contents:

One of my Codeigniter apps started returning this error after i restarted my server.
When I checked the Codeigniter error log it says something like:
"...[error] 879#0: *273 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP message: PHP Warning: Unknown: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/pathToWebsiteRootFolder/index.php) is not within the allowed path(s): ".
So I added this:
open_basedir= /pathToWebsiteRootFolder/index.php:
To a user.ini file I created in my website root folder.
And this Solved it.
FYI: Im using an NGINX web server.
However, Its strange because I didn't have to do this for the other Apps on the same server.
