APK Tool tutorial Needed - apk

I have bought and installed the launcher X in my Elelphone P 8000. It is very nice launcher with lots of options. but the developer quit the project and not responding to our requests. I want to randomize the transition effect in the application drawer and also randomize the screen effects like, 'sunny', ' dandrolene', 'rainy' etc on the home screen. In simple words, how to add the option 'RANDOM' in the transition effects and home screen effects, so that they change automatically at intervals in a random fashion Can anybody kindly give the details how it can be done using APK tool. Secondaly is it possible to make the background of certain applications like Messaging, Whatsapp etc to transparent by editing the XML.file?.

Set a window as destop background (Windows)

is there any way to place a window behind the desktop icons or as the backgroud of the desktop?
For example I have a window and I want it to always in the back and below the destop icons.
No. Background is background, and is controlled by Windows itself, mostly through theme engine. You can put at best a slideshow - changing wallpaper roughly through API is not so smooth and often produces a flash, while slideshow use transition effects.
It was possible to display web pages in older Windows versions (it was named "Active Desktop"), but it's long dead now because of obvious security reasons.
Otherwise, everything you can create with an application will be ABOVE desktop icons. By design.
You can anyway use some programs that can somewhat perform suitable behavior:
SysInternals BgInfo: Allow to display various informations as an overlay to current wallpaper. Can display various system informations. Can also save you from creating some purely static display components for next tool.
Rainmeter: Allow to heavily customize your desktop with skins and "widgets" - they are still above icons, so see next one.
Desktop Restore: Allow to save/restore icons' positions for multiple configurations / resolutions. Can allow you to let Rainmeters' components in "blank" zones, free of icons.

How to test what a webpage/web app will look like with Firefox on a specific screen resolution

I have the task of testing a web application where it is given that this app should fit a screen with the resolution of 1280*1024.
My work monitor is, however, a 20 inch screen with resolution 1680*1050.
Will resizing the Firefox window to 1280*1024 meet the test criteria or should I always change the resolution of my monitor? (Obviously, the second option is not preferred).
And also: Is there a Firefox plugin which will help me to set the window size appropriately?
Sometimes asking the question out loud helps to realise what you really want :)
There is Firefox addon called More Display Resolutions which helps to show the page in given resolution, even in 1280*1024
After you install it, just go to Tools -> Web Developer- > Responsive Design View and here you can turn on the preffered resolution:
Ok, the above died. What now?
Since time of writing this answer I changed jobs and do not have to test specific resolutions. But I did quick google search and this site seems to be working: http://quirktools.com/screenfly/
Responsive Design Mode is a stock part of Firefox which is available from the Menu Bar: Tools -> Web Developer -> Responsive Design View in all Firefox versions (keyboard shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + M, (or Cmd + Opt + M on OS X)). No extension is needed to access this mode.
Within Responsive Design Mode, you can set the exact display area used for the webpage. There are several preset dimensions. Alternately, custom display dimensions can be used by either directly typing the dimensions in, or dragging the display to the size desired. What is being set is the pixel dimensions used for the area containing the display of the webpage.
These dimensions are not the same as setting the pixel dimensions used for the entire screen, which would include the Firefox user interface. If you set it to the dimensions of a specific physical display size it is the same as would be displayed using Full Screen mode (on desktop versions, keyboard shortcut F11). If you want to see what your page will look like including the Firefox user interface, you will need to determine how many pixels the user interface consumes at the screen resolution you are interested in and on the platform you are intending to use (e.g. desktop, Android, iOS). You will then need to use a custom display size. Note that the amount of room used for the Firefox user interface will depend on many factors which include—in addition to the OS and resolution of the physical display—any theme the user has installed, which toolbars the user has chosen to display, and, potentially, which add-ons the user has installed.
This is what Responsive Design Mode looks like:

Windows Mobile 6.5 - camera life preview and image capture using my own dialog

Im writing an application for workers in our factory and one of requirements is that they should be able to take images using camera integrated in PDA with WM6.5.
The main difficulty is, that thay MUST NEVER EVER be able to enter windows, Start button, desktop etc. They are allowed ONLY to see my fullscreen application.
I succesfully deactivated BlueTooth + red, green and volume buttons (if you are interested, im pasting links here)

And now I have to implement the camera function. But as CameraCaptureDialog opens a new dialog and shows start button, task bar and allows user to open list of applications, I must not use it.
I must create my own dialog that will show the Live Preview in a panel or in an imageBox and photo will be taken using a button.
I searched the whole internet and found only DirectShow.NETCF (but people do not recommend it) and CameraCaptureDialog.
Can I somehow redirect the CameraCaptureDialog to my dialog? Or can I access camera directly via .NET framework? Or can I modify the CameraCaptureDialog not to show Start button, menu etc?
Looks like you have a bit of a challenge. I agree that Directshow is a questionable solution, but it may be your only option. I did get http://alexmogurenko.com/blog/directshownetcf/ to work, but only on low resolutions.
A better option might be to find a device that does not show the menu bar/start button. AFAIK, the HTC HD2 has a very clean Cameracapturedialog..
Good luck.

How to draw on screen using RealBasic, Visual basic? Where i have one default laptop screen and second monitor

I have my laptop default screen and second screen. How can I write RealBasic, VisualBasic (Java not possible) application which can allow me to paint on desktop (both screen)?
Most likely you won't be able to draw directly to the screen, but you could potentially grab screenshots of each screen and then draw onto those. Depending on what exactly you're trying to do with your application, it would almost definitely be a more realistic goal to grab a screenshot of each screen and then simply display the screenshots in standard windows that take up the entire screen, letting you then edit and "draw" onto the screen there.
Another option would be to create a transparent window, and then intercept mouse clicks and present information on that window.
If you're using RB on a Mac, you can use the Monkeybread Software Plugin to create a NSWindowMBS and modify the alpha value or an OverlayWindowMBS. It looks like you're trying to do this on Windows, though, so this won't work.

Kiosk Applications - OS X programming - Multiple monitors

I've learnt Cocoa + Objective C primarily for iPhone development, and I need to utilize this skill set to build a very basic kiosk application for OS X in a couple of days. The application is basically as follows :
The setup has two touch screen monitors, the app must be running full screen mode. The monitor on the right acts as a detail view to a list of options on the left. There are 3 options on the monitor on the left. Picking one will play a movie on the right, Picking two will take you to a quiz, Picking 3 will pull up a Webview.
The user may not use any other operations on the PC. (I've started reading about OS X application development and realized Cocoa provides a kiosk mode for these types of apps)
My questions briefly are
Firstly, any help on how to get my app running in a kiosk mode is much appreciated! I'm under a bit of a time crunch (2 days to get all this done, talk about life in startups!), so completely static content is fine, I'm slightly worried about how OS X will handle full screen mode if an app has been written in a smaller window size. (Scaling etc.)
Next, assuming there are two windows, one on each screen, how do I deal with focus? If the user suddenly gets bored with content on the right and touches the window on the left, the first touch will probably act to focus the window and the second will act as a click on the button. I'd like to avoid this scenario!)
What are the navigation paradigms in OS X ? I'm guessing it's not as simple as [navigationController pushViewController]? In short, how do I display a new view over an existing view?
Thanks,
Teja

Click-through is the default. If you have any custom views, respond to acceptsFirstMouse: with YES to support click-through in them.

Typically either window-based or source-list-based. Your application is atypical.

It's simpler and more complex at the same time. There is no stack to manage; you can have multiple windows up at the same time. It gets more complex when you want everything in one window (as in your kiosk-mode app), in which case you end up using tab views (with or without tabs) to enable the user to switch from one view to another.
In short, how do I display a new view over an existing view?
You don't. Layering one view over another in the same superview is barely supported at all in AppKit, and almost always wrong.
In a normal application, you should make multiple windows. In an app like yours, you'll need to use tab views. View controllers may help you here, although NSViewControllers are very different from UIViewControllers (as I mentioned, no view stack); they're more similar to NSWindowControllers.
