I have a small problem in my first spring&hibernate application.
In my page, I would like to create a popup window (modal) which gives the possibility to send an email. So, this popup would display a spring form with a fied "subject" and a field "content".
The question is : how can I use the form binding mechanism of spring with this popup form if I don't want my main page (displayed behind the popup form) to be reloaded?
If i am not wrong, the content of the popup is a div present in the main page. So, If I submit the form in the popup, the whole page will be reloaded (through the mvc mechanism of spring) and this is exactly what I don't want.
Of course, I can submit my form via an ajax call to a spring controller, but in this case, how to handle the eventual errors in the form? I cannot use the spring form binding mechanism to display the errors on the popupform. Is it possible?
Do you know if there is a way to open a new window in a modal popup? So that this page and only this page would be reloaded during the submission of the form?
Actually, I am not sure of the best way to combine a popup containing a form and the form submission mechanism of spring. How to display the errors on the form in case of errors? after reload of the page, If there are some errors, I need to open my popup again in javascript and then display the errors on the popup, this is the only mean I see, but maybe there are easier solutions.
If you have, I would be happy to know it.
thanks a lot
is it possible to make an AJAX call while the user is still entering information within the edit dialog box ? I think I need to make the AJAX call for inside the
afterShowForm
event. What i want to do is make some changes to the back end database before the user finishes entering all the data in the edit dialog box. I would also like the grid to reload once the AJAX call is completed. Is this possible ? I am using JSON data, will this cause any problems with AJAX call ?
please help

i have a form that it send data with ajax post metod. when i set flashmessenger in action method, it don`t show any messege (i have to refresh the page for see the messege)!
how i can manage the flashmessenger for recognition ajax load page??
Flashmessenger uses sessions, in order for it to work you need to physically reload the page. You have to create your own mechanism; Whenever you get the callback you can append lets say your response to the same element in which you would have displayed the flashmessanger message.
Goal:
I want to let my users download a file on my webpage. I want a new window to open and the file to be either displayed or downloaded there.
My implementation:
This file however, first has to be generated on the server-side, which might take a while. When the user clicks the button to download the file, I do an ajax call and show a waiting animation until I get a response. The controller action that handles the call will generate the file (PDF) and return a FileResult. Now in the succes function of my ajax call back in javascript, I get the file data.
Problem: I have no Idea what I'm supposed to do with this data to get it to the user.
Workaround:
Right now I use a workaround where I do not return the file in the ajax call, but store it in session. In the succes function I do window.open("/controller/getPDFFromSession") which will download the file. However, I prefer not to use the session for these kind of things.
Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't use AJAX for downloading files for this reason. You could do the following:
The user clicks on the download button
Using javascript you show some progress image informing him that he will have to wait
Using javascript you generate and inject a hidden iframe into the DOM having its src property pointing to the controller action supposed to generate the file
Once the iframe is loaded you could hide the progress image
i´ve got a view of my client (http://localhost/client/view/3) and in related section I have his adress.
Cakephp automatically builds that. When you click on Add Adress button new page comes up (http://localhost/addess/new) and when you save that it goes to http://localhost/addess/index
what I need is to ajax this view and get all working together. I need to go to http://localhost/client/view/3 push Add Adress and get addrees/new form visible (<- easy with jQuery) but how can I save the new adress and get adress div updated??
any example??
thanks
The php script you make the AJAX call to is where you need to do the save. When you have done that, you can pass out the data for the address div as xml or a javascript object and read it with the AJAX javascript in the original view.
