You're confusing VBA with VBScript. Open myFile for Output As #1 isn't valid VBScript code, and neither is Write #1 or the square brackets. In VBScript you handle files via the FileSystemObject.

The problem is your source file urls2.txt is empty. The reason for this is you are not closing your files after you write to them. You need to add this after you have finished writing out to urls1.txt and urls2.txt.

Also, you don't need to continually recreate the instance of objFileSystem every time you access the files. You can instantiate it once at the top.
Be sure to be a good memory citizen and destroy all objects you set in your code.

And this (below) vbs file reads the content and shows message.
As you can see there is a start command in my batch file.
If I click Yes in vbs window I want to execute that start command.

I'm taking a scripting class and im having some issues with my script. According to the lab assignment all my syntax is correct. However i keep getting a input past end of file error on line 60,1. As you don't use "Option Explicit", you get what you deserve: You (try to) concatenate the lines into ipAddrSr but write ipAddrStr to the file. So nothing gets written to the file.
Fix the syntax error and the bad name to:

Assuming that the file isn't empty, perhaps you need to specify the directory the file is in? I think this can be done either in your script:

Start of that I'm not that good with VBS but trying to learn.
Right now I have some difficulties with writing replace to a text file.
What I want to do is to search for the text "VGML", when this is found check on same row if there is a "STML" if so, this should replaced with " " to not mess up the positions in the file. And finally, if "VGML" is found without the "STML", the "VGML" should be removed.
I got so far when using echo I can see that the code does what I want, but writing to file mostly get me a empty file where the code removed everything.
Could anyone put me in the correct direction?

In the loop, you read each line of the file and you write it into the variable strLine.
After that, you replace "SMTL"/"VGML", but after that, you're doing nothing with the content of strLine - you just replace it with the next line from the source file in the next loop.
Only at the end, you write strLine to the file once - but in that moment, strLine contains only the last line from the source file.
Solution: you can either write into the destination file inside the Do...Loop (but I'm not familiar with VBScript, so I don't know if/how to do this) or you can use a second string variable where you append strLine inside the loop but after the replacing...like this:
strFinal = strFinal & strLine
At the end, you write strFinal to the file, not strLine.
I am searching for a VBScript that does a search and replace in files (e.g. 1.txt 2.xml).
I have file "1.txt" that inside there is the word "temporary" and I want to change it to "permanent".
Because I get this file a lot I need a script for it.
