TiddlyWiki Table of Contents sorting - sorting

I am looking to make a table of contents that may contain a structure as follows:
Topic 1
Overview
Content A
Content B
Content C
Topic 2
Overview
Content D
Content E
Content F
1) I would like to manually sort these in a specific order, and by this I mean not alphabetical order (ex: sort[title])
2) If possible, I would like to be able to contain more than one Overview tiddler but have them be unique to the Topic in which they're contained.
Im trying to avoid having to do redundant titles like:
Topic 1
Overview - Topic 1
Content A
Content B
Content C

Got a partial answer for the manual sorting.
Topic 1
Add a "new field" called "content-index" = 0
Topic 2
Add a "new field" callled "content-index" = 1
etc.
Under the table of contents tiddler:
<div class="tc-table-of-contents">
<<toc-selective-expandable 'Contents' sort[content-index]>>
</div>
Still researching to find out if I can, at the very least, visually show non-unique entries in the content tab.

You can also do sorting by including the sub-topics in the "list" field of the main tiddler in the correct order, each one surrounded by brackets. I also like your solution with "content-index" though.
About redundant titles, you can use a lengthier title to ensure that it's unique, and then set the "caption" field to something shorter, e.g. "Overview". Then the table of contents automatically shows the caption, but internally the tiddler is known by its real title.

Google sheets drop down with extra description - not dynamic

I'm trying to create a drop down picker that shows a list of values, but actually stores a related value.
The list I'm working with looks like:
ID Desc
AA An option
AB Different option
B3 Some other option
So I want the user to see the description, but the value stored when they have picked one is the ID column.
I've search a lot but can only find either simple data validation or dymanic (Multiple dropdows based on a prior drop down)
My users won't remember the ID's, but by having the text descriptions they will find it easier.
Any help please?
Lots of searching for clues, but can only find either simple single column drop downs, or dynamic.
Lets say, you want to select description id D7 cell then want to show result from J Column as per ID of selected description. Then Try-
=XLOOKUP(XLOOKUP(D7,B2:B4,A2:A4),I2:I4,J2:J4)

In QuickBase, is there a way to add a drilldown report to a formula field?

One thing I appreciate about QuickBase table to table relationship summary formulas is that they automatically are hyperlinked to a drilldown report (e.g., if I had a field that counted the # of passing scores for a person and the person had 2, then there's automatically a link to the parent table/report and if I click it, I can see both of that individual's passing score records).
Unfortunately, I lose that functionality when writing a formula outside of the table-to-table default options (e.g., the # of passing scores divided by the # of passing + non-passing scores does not give option to add a drilldown report). Is there a way to add drilldown to a formula field? The closest I got was adding a report link field, but it'd be nice if that was a hyperlink with a number to avoid taking unnecessary space.
You should be able to do that using a Formula Rich Text field with an HTML hyperlink and adding a query parameter in your URL. You can get some help building the query if you turn off the new report style, then going to More > Show the expanded URL for this report. The expanded URL should look like this:
I agree with the Rich text field.
I prefer to build a query instead of using the expanded one.
The expanded url has a temporary id :(
Here is an example how you can create an own link if you use a formula Rich text field.
For sure, you have to replace a couple of variables in the following link ;)
// qid=1 >> id of your drilldown report
// mx{6.TV.2} >> 6 is the related field's id, 2 is the key of your table (master)
// the numbers are just an examples
// _DBID_TEMPLATES_CHILDREN >> you can find it at bottom of the children table's
advanced settings
"<a href=\""& URLRoot() & "db/" & [_DBID_TEMPLATES_CHILDREN] & "?
a=s&qid=1&dlta=mx{6.TV.2}&opts=disprec&isDDR=1\"> "& [# of Templates childs] &" </a>"

Need to find an R function to filter and select Headlines of texts

I sadly have no experience with R Studio, probably the solution for my problem is easy.
I have a data package including 40.000 entries. The data is about newspaper Articles, their headlines and their content.
What I try to do is filter the Headlines. I only want to search for Headlines which include one specific word because I make a research of an specific topic
Does an Package exist witch can make this possible?
I tried "Sentiment Analysis", "text2vex" and Tidyverse.
So I imagine that you have a heading column in your data and a content column.
Headings Contents
H1 C1
H2 C2
...
you can use the following code to fetch the headings including a certain string:
grep('enter_your_string', Data$Headings, value=TRUE)

Kibana - How to display log as table

I'm testing Kibana 4 for a project.
I have created an index from my database table which is composed by 3 fields:
Date
User
Action
I would like to display my index as a simple table (3 column, N rows) in my dashboard.
I tried to use "Data table" visualization but I can't find a way to display my results without any Metrics (Count, Sum etc...)
Maybe is pretty simple and I missed something... is there a way to do this?
Regards,
On the Discover tab, create a view that has just the fields you want and then save that as a search.
On the Dashboard tab, click on Edit then hit the + Create new button to add a widget, but if you look at the top, there's a Searches tab. Select that and add your saved search in.
[Elastic 7.x / 2019 Update]
I was a bit confused when I read #Alcanzar's answer so I am sharing a little more noob-friendly step-by-step how-to here :
STEP 1 : Create the Index Pattern
STEP 2 : Go to the Dashboard view, and create a view on your index
Select each column you want to include/add in your view by clicking "add" on it (The confusing part is that until you do that, you will have a "scrambled" view listing everything in a jumbled way.)
STEP 3 : Go to the Dashboard view, and create a view on your index
The trick is to select the specific columns you want to include... and voila !
Don't forget to save your view, this will help a lot in the process.
In Kibana 7.5.0 you can do it as follows:
Go to Discover section
Select fields you are interested in
Click on Save to save your discover search so you can use it in visualizations and dashboards
Click on Dashboard and create a new dashboard
Click on Add and select the panel
There is no step 6
The accepted solution has its pros (if, for simplicity, you see your index as a table, this is the only way to deal with rows naturally) but also cons (it allows the user to see too much information, by expanding the records that appear in the table; users cannot get an export of the values).
So if you plan to build tables to use in reports seen by users which should not see everthing and may want to get exports of the data, I recommend a different (hacky) approach using Table visualizations:
Say you have three columns A, B and C:
If there are no duplicates considering the combined values of A and B, you can use these two vales as aggregation fields, and then set a Max or Top hit Metric for C.
If even A, B and C have duplicates, then you can use the three of them as aggregation fields and add a Metric count, that will give you the number of repeated rows. This solution makes somehow sense, because instead of repeating the same row 'n' times you just tells you should have repeated 'n' times that row.
If A and B have duplicates but A, B and C are unique, then there is, afaik, no elegant solution. You have to use the three of them as aggregation fields, but then you would have a dummy metric at the end (e.g. count, always equal to 1).
Why? why do we have to go through all of this? that is another question...

a bit of a string matching conundrum in excel-vba

i'm writing a program at work for a categorizing issue.
i get data in the form of CODE, DESCRIPTION, SUB-TOTAL for example:
LIQ013 COGNAC 25
LIQ023 VODKA 21
FD0001 PRETZELS 10
PP0502 NAPKINS 5
Now it all generally follows something like this...the problem is my company supplies numerous different bars. So there are like 800 records a month with data like this. My boss wants to breakdown the data so she knows how much we spend on a certain category each month. For example:
ALCOHOL 46
FOOD 10
PAPER 5
What I've thought of is I setup a sort of "data-base" which is really a csv text file that contains entries like this:
LIQ,COGNAC,ALCOHOL
LIQ,VODKA,ALCOHOL
FD,PRETZELS,FOOD
FD,POPCORN,FOOD
I've already written code that imports the database as a worksheet and separates each field into its own column. I want excel to look through the file and when it sees LIQ and COGNAC to assign it the ALCOHOL designator. That way I can use a pivot table to get the category sums. For example I want the final product to look like this:
LIQ013 COGNAC 25 ALCOHOL
LIQ023 VODKA 21 ALCOHOL
FD0001 PRETZELS 10 FOOD
PP0502 NAPKINS 5 PAPER
Does anyone have any suggestions? My worry is that a single point expression match to JUST the code i.e. just to LIQ without a match to COGNAC as well would maybe result in problems later when there are conflicting descriptions? I'd also like the user to be able to add ledger entries so that the database of recognized terms grows and becomes more expansive and hopefully more accurate.
EDIT
as per #Marc 's request i'm including my solution:
code file
please note that this is a pretty dumb-ed down solution. i removed a bunch of the fail-safes and other bits of code that were relevant to a robust code but not to our particular solution.
in order to get this to work there are two parts:
the first is the macro source code
the second is the actual file
because all the fail-safes are removed, the file needs to be imported to excel exactly the way it appears. i.e. Sheet1 on the googleDoc should be Sheet1 on the excel, start pasting data at cell "A1". before the macro is run, be sure to select cell "A1" in Sheet1. as i said, there are implementations in the finished product to make it more user friendly! enjoy!
EDIT2
These links suck. They don't paste well into excel.
If your comfortable with it I can email you the actual workbook. Which would help in preserving the formatting etc.
Use a lookup table in a separate sheet. Column A of the lookup sheet contains the lookup value (e.g. PRETZELS), Column B contains the category (FOOD, ALCOHOL, etc). In the cells where you want the category to show up in your original sheet (let's use D3 for the result where B3 holds the "PRETZELS" value), type this formula:
=VLOOKUP(B3,OtherSheet!$A$1:$B$500,2,FALSE)
That assumes that your lookup table is in range A1:B500 of a worksheet named "OtherSheet".
This formula tells Excel to find the lookup value (B3) in column A of your lookup and return the corresponding value from column B of your lookup table. Absolute references (the $) ensure that your formula won't increment cell references when you copy/paste the formula in other cells.
When you get new categories and/or inventory, you can update your lookup table in this one place by just adding new rows to it.
