i am playing around with the yahoo yql.
If i do a search on:
https://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql?q=select%20%2A%20from%20yahoo.finance.quotes%20where%20symbol%20in%20%28%22CARL-B.CO%22%29&env=store://datatables.org/alltableswithkeys&format=json
It works as expected.
If i do a search on this:
https://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql?q=select%20%2A%20from%20yahoo.finance.quotes%20where%20symbol%20in%20%28%22MAERSK-B.CO%22%29&env=store://datatables.org/alltableswithkeys&format=json
I get no result.
If i search both symbols here:
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/CARL-B.CO
https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/MAERSK-B.CO
Both works just fine.
Am i doing something wrong or are there some kind of limitations on some stocks/shares?
I think the problem is http://datatables.org/ . Currently not working.

I used to use queries like this when searching:
https://www.googleapis.com/books/v1/volumes?q=isbn:0590353403&langRestrict=en&maxResults=5&printType=books&showPreorders=false&fields=items(volumeInfo(authors,imageLinks,pageCount,title,industryIdentifiers))
Recently however, it seems that using langRestrict=en no longer return results. If I remove that, it works again.
https://www.googleapis.com/books/v1/volumes?q=isbn:0590353403&maxResults=5&printType=books&showPreorders=false&fields=items(volumeInfo(authors,imageLinks,pageCount,title,industryIdentifiers))
If I look at the book in question, the language is listed as language="un" now:
https://www.googleapis.com/books/v1/volumes?q=isbn:0590353403
Can anyone explain what changed, and should I be using langRestrict=un instead? (What language is un? I can't seem to find information on it.) Thank you.
I'm trying to use youtube data search and video API in my web application to display top view-counted videos related with several keywords. I'm planing to use totally two calls: the first call get id list with search API, and the second call get details for the ids hit on the first call, with video API.
My question is with regard to search API. Based on my trial and error, If I input multiple keyword with space separation in the parameter q for search API, it's looks behaves as AND condition it's not same as common behavior such as google. To search with multiple keywords with OR condition, As far as I tried, it's looks working if I Include the OR between keywords, but I would like to confirm my assumption correct, officially if possible.
I should be able to find this kind of specification in the official documentation, but finally I have no luck. It's very helpful if you could share these links if exists or give me the official answer.
By the way, it is my first post to stackoverflow. If there is missing point of my question, please kindly advice.
I am quite new to ElasticSearch and it has been very nice getting to know about it. I have to implement something as the image attached below suggests. How do I hit this? I tried looking for it but did not get anything close to it. SO had to post it as a new question.
Does ES have to do anything with it?
Take a look at Suggesters
"The suggest feature suggests similar looking terms based on a provided text by using a suggester. Parts of the suggest feature are still under development."
you can use this:http://www.elasticsearch.org/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/search-suggesters.html
using term suggest,it can fix you wrong word from it's dictionary.
I continue to get this error when I try to run this XPath query
//div[#iti='0']
on this link (flight search from google)
https://www.google.com/flights/#search;f=LGW;t=JFK;d=2014-05-22;r=2014-05-26
I get something like this:
=ImportXML("https://www.google.fr/flights/#search;f=jfk;t=lgw;d=2014-02-22;r=2014-02-26";"//div[#iti='0']")
I verified and the XPath is correct (I get the answer wanted using XPath helper, the answer wanted are the data relative to the first flight selected).
I guess that it is a problem of syntax, but I tried more or less all the combinations of lower/uppercase, punctuation (replacing ; , ' ") and I tried to link the URI and the XPath query stored in cells, but nothing works.
Any help will be appreciated.
As a matter of fact, maybe it is a bug on the new google sheets or they have changed how the function works. I've activated mine and when I try to use the ImportXML it simply wont work. Since I have some old sheets here (on the old mechanism) they still work normally. If I copy and paste the script from the old to the new one it simply doesn't get any data.
Here a example:
=ImportXML("http://www.nytimes.com/pages/todayspaper/index.html";"//div[#class='columnGroup first']//h3")
If I run this on the old mechanism it works fine, but if I run the same on the new mechanism, first it will exchange my ";" for a "," and then it will bring a "#N/A" with a warning of "Error: Imported XML content cannot be parsed".
Edit (05/05/2015):
I am happy to say that I tested this function again today on the new spreadsheets and they've fixed it. I was checking that every two months and now finally they have solved this issue. The example I've added above is now returning information.
I'm sorry, but you won't be able to easily parse Google result pages. The reason your function throws an error is because the content of the page you see in your browser is generated by javascript, and Google spreadsheet doesn't execute js.
Your ImportXML has the right syntax, it doesn't return anything because the node you're looking for isn't there (importXML Parse Error).
You will have to find another source if you want these result in your spreadsheet. For info some libraries already parse the usual result page (http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/google-scraper-in-google-docs-update for example, if it still works), but I doubt finding one for your special case will be easy.
This gives the answer (importXML Parse Error), but it's not entirely obvious.
ImportXML doesn't load Javascript. When you're building ImportXML queries on Google results, make sure you're testing against a version of the page that has Javascript turned off. You can do this using the Chrome DevTools.
(But I agree that ImportXML is fickle, idiosyncratic, and generally rage-inducing).
I've been using usenet searches since about 1995 to get programming information, mostly for microsoft APIs. First searching via dejanews, and now google "groups" which bought out dejanews. Over the last few years I've noticed a steady decline in the quantity of search results for usenet from google, and today I find I'm completely unable to get a working usenet search on their advanced group search page. I'm used to searching on "microsoft.*" sometimes suplemented with "microsoft" or "microsoft*". Just try to find a post from 1996-1998 time period on "database" in either the comp.* or microsoft.* hierarchies, and if you can do it, please show your search expression. There should be thousands of results.
http://groups.google.com/groups/search?safe=off&q=database+group%3Amicrosoft*&btnG=Rechercher&as_mind=1&as_minm=1&as_miny=1996&as_maxd=1&as_maxm=1&as_maxy=1999&as_drrb=b&sitesearch=
seems to work nicely... 994 results (no thousands but still...)
It appears to be problem with the advanced search form. I can't get the one at
http://groups.google.fr/advanced_search?hl=fr&q=&hl=fr&
to work either. But I can use the basic form with "database group:microsoft*" and I get many results as expected.
http://www.google.ca/groups/search?safe=off&q=database+group%3Acomp.*&btnG=Search&sitesearch=
returns 3,000 results
The advanced search isn't working for me either:
Broken advanced search results URL
However, removing lr=selected from the query string in that URL makes it work, for some reason:
Working advanced search results URL
In fact, hitting the search button again on the broken advanced search results page will return those results as well for me.
Or actually, it's only partly working, since entering multiple comma-separated groups in the advanced search form (or using the group: search operator) doesn't quite work as expected and ends up adding all the words in the additional group names as search keywords too.
You could try learning Julian dates and use the daterange search operator:
