kentico smart search filter - visual-studio

I want to implement a smart search filter in my project, I already bulit a smart search box connected to a searchResults page, but now I want to add more options to filter these results. I am not using a web part structure so I have to implement this functionality in visual studio as a controller in aspx page. I could'nt find any example on how to do this. Can you please explain the process? or at least provide me with links where I can find examples?
also please note that I m not able to add it as a webpart directly from Kentico, I want to implement it in visual studio programatically

You should take a look at the smart search syntax. You’ll need to use this to combine with or replace your search term once you set the filter value in your user control.

Menu-commands extension for Visual Studio without command-table

I am building a Visual Studio extension (VSIX) with menu commands depending on the options for the extension. Its dynamic, what commands (how many) depends on the options.
I have a solution for it that uses the command-table, like: Dynamically add menu items
I would like to skip the command-table and build the menus totally programmatically, like: HOWTO: Package with commands created by code
The reason is to make it more dynamic. So if the user adds/changes/deletes in the options of the extension it would be handled dynamically (programmatically). On saving options the menu-command tree would be rebuildt. If I use a command-table I will have to add/delete nodes there to be able to solve it.
The thing I can not figure out is howto add the objects for "groups" and "menus" programmatically.
So I am out for the class/interface that has "AddGroup" or "AddMenu" as methods.
Is this at all possible or do I have to use the command-table? If it is possible I would appreciate links to code-examples for it.

MVP Carlos Quintero has published sample code using IVsProfferCommmands3.AddNamedCommand that illustrates how to programmatically add menu items via the automation services (formerly utilized by the now discontinued add-in extensibility model).
https://github.com/visualstudioextensibility/VSX-Samples/tree/master/PackageCommandsCreatedByCode
While add-ins are no longer supported, the automation interfaces are still present. So you can use these, bearing in mind these menu items (aka commands) are temporary.
Also, the sample code here is a little outdated, using Package instead of AsyncPackage, and ProvideAutoLoad attributes. So you'll also want to read up on the following:

Sincerely,

Can Visual Studio's Find be hooked for new file types?

I've created an entity modeling DSL (https://github.com/msawczyn/EFDesigner) and would like to give the users the ability to search the model while viewing it (for class names, attribute names, association endpoint names, etc.).
I'd like to hook into Visual Studio's Find feature and display the search results in the Find Results window, then put focus on the element when they select it in Find Results, in the same way that selecting a Find Results code entry navigates you to that line of code. I'm currently doing that kind of navigation with Errors and Warnings in the Error List window.
I can't seem to find documentation anywhere on the API for hooking into Find functionality. Based on Visual Studio's architecture, I'm assuming this is a service.
Is this an extension point? Is it not doable? If it can be done, would someone please point me to the documentation?
Thanks in advance.

Dynamics CRM option set

I am new to Dynamics CRM so please excuse me for the newbie question xD
I managed to create an option set field with 2 possibilities:
Scheme 1
Scheme 2
Does anyone have an idea how when a particular possibility is picked, a list of custom based fields will appear in the form? Thanks in advance
If i understand your problem correctly you want certain fields to appear/disappear according to the choice selected in the option set.
The way I see this working is by implementing a Javascript on the onChange event of the option set. you can do this from the 'Form Properties' when changing the layout of the form.
Below is a link showing some examples of possible useful commands that might help you:
http://www.powerobjects.com/blog/2011/01/14/crm-2011-useful-javascript-tidbits/
You can put your custom fields in a custom tab and then hide/disable it according to the value in the option set.
If you have any further problems feel free to ask :)
I hope this helps :)

If you are comfortable working in Visual Studio, I highly recommend installing the Developer Toolkit (You can find the .msi \tools\developertoolkit - download it from here). It will allow you to develop JScript with some syntax highlighting and intellisense and makes source control and deployment a snap.

How to make a site-lookup addon for Firefox?

I'd like to create an addon for Firefox that would enable me to search a particular site by selecting text on one site and choosing to search another site by selecting that option in the context menu.
I already have an extension like that in my browser - the Wikipedia Lookup extension. Basically, I want the exact same functionality but which will send the search text to a different site.
I'm completely new to Firefox addons, so can somebody tell me what's involved in this? Or point me at a site with a list of instructions to do a plugin like this? I can see examples on how to make a Hello World kind of plugin but I can't see how to extend that example into what I need. Thanks.
Have you considered opening the Wikipedia extension source and modifying the pointer from wikipedia.com to the other search site? This is assuming you're using Windows Vista or higher. The source code should be located at:
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensions\something#wikipedia.com\chrome\content
You would then have to modify the source code inside to change the pointer, and the POST variables string to match that of the site you will be using.
I hope this at least points you in the general direction!

How to do design list view like SharePoint 2010 Custom List or Document Library?

I am generation Recent Activity list from SharePoint 2010 site,
What i need is ,i have to display the list in a particular page,The UI must be like a SharePoint 2010 Custom List or Document Library,
How to design it, Is there any way to do this.
If your data source is a SharePoint list, you could use the [ListViewWebPart][1] to achieve this. What exactly are the requirements of the view - should you also include the context-sensitive menu ("Edit properties" etc) ? If not, you could just create a custom web part and override the CreateChildControls method, and there mimic the html/css that is rendered in a document library.
