Does anyone know if it's possible for me to create a Control Break view as the default view when a user views the page?
What i mean is, instead of viewing all 1000 rows of a report, I would like it defaulted to Control Break display it by a certain column.
Perhaps see the image of the default view that i require.

Yes. Put your control break on and then click Actions > Save Report then save as default report settings > primary report.

so im trying to create an interactive report using apex. Usually, it will automatically create CRUD operation in the report. But somehow, the edit button (pencil and paper icon) in my interactive report is gone and i don't know how to fix nor adding them manually. Before it was gone, I changed my IR to Classical report since after i upload the table, APEX doesn't show all the columns (only 8 out of 9 column showed). And after that, I return the table into IR since all the column showed, but this is where the problem started.
Any thoughts?
go to report's Attributes properties tab (on the right hand side of the Page Designer screen)
set the Link property to "Link to Custom target"
target will be "page in this application"
choose it from list of values (or type it manually, if you know its number)
as you'll want to pass item(s) value(s) from the report to form page, set items
That's all.
I've tried doing it with exporting the solution and changes the XML code and then importing it again.
as you can see in the image two bars after 'Do You Want to' column. But when I open this grid in Unified client interface it is still visible.
like in this grid.if 'isAllowOverride' is True I want to make 'Do you want to' be editable. But 'isAllowOverride' has to be invisible from User end.
Not sure why you are editing the xml for such customization. But this can be easily configured in UI itself.
Go to the form editor, open the subgrid properties, check the view it’s configured to show, edit the view columns to remove the unwanted ones, save the view and set the subgrid with the correct edited view again (there’s a product bug which switch to the default Active view), save & publish the form. That’s it.
Update:
We cannot have two different layouts for Display mode vs Edit mode. That being said, you have to disable the editable grid columns based on conditions.
I have created a page based on "Form & Report" template. So there is the Report page on which there is the create button. That create button leads to the form page which contains.
It is pretty simple. I don't know if there is a cache memory not emptying itself or if there is a setting that I have not properly set.
When I want to create a new database record, Oracle Apex behaves as if I asked it to update a record (though it still presents me with empty text fields).
Below the image of what's happening.
Create button of the Report
Buttons for edit are shown when I click the create button
Those edit buttons are shown instead of the buttons below => This means that the Apex software is behaving like I asked to edit a record not to insert a record.
Why is this happening?
You need to take a look at your create button. Is it passing a value to the form? If so, you probably don't want that. Is it clearing the cache of the form? If not, you probably want to clear it.
Also, on the form page take a look at your processes.. specifically the Automated Row Fetch (ARF) process.. what's the primary key that this process is using?
Also, take a look at the conditions for each button on your form. For the delete/save buttons you likely want a condition type of "value of item / column in expression 1 Is NOT NULL".
For your create button you would want the opposite.. "value of item /... IS NULL".
In both cases for the expression 1 you'd want to use the item that your ARF is leveraging.
#Bloomberg58 if you used the wizard that should not have anyway try to validate the create button in report page and the server-side validation of create and save button in form page
I have a blank page with a static content region (Template = Form Region). I select a project via a select list (there is only one project, so it automatically selects it). I then have a key popup lov (a popup lov that displays the description not the returned number value) from which I select a person to be in this project. I am trying to get the form to display the person I selected and saved previously when the form launches for the first time (since the project is chosen due to there being one). This works when you refresh the page, but it doesn't work if you log out and log back into the form. I tried using the default value with a sql query. I tried using a dynamic action that fires when the project changes; but neither approaches work. I fiddled with all the settings, but couldn't get anything to work. Does anyone know how to accomplish this in Oracle APEX?
I even added a refresh of the cascading popup lov to the dynamic action. I can see the hidden input item showing my defaulted value, but the popup lov does not display it on screen. Is this an Oracle bug?
Also in Javascript from the console
$s("P51_LINE_MANAGER1", "7104");
sets the hidden value, but doesn't display on screen.
$v("P51_LINE_MANAGER1");
does however return 7104.
I want to highlight specific rows on Interactive reports in APEX I go to format > Highlight then set the criteria needed for Highlighting desired rows. My problem is that this is a temporary solution. I need these configurations to be set as default so that any user try to use this report results appear highlighted as in criteria set before.any Help?
This is given in documentation read http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21674/ir_using.htm#CHDDDBCG
and accordingly save your highlighed report as a default report which is permenent one.
As a developer, you can save standard reports which will be shown to users by default.
To do this, first generate the report you want to show as default, with all your filtering and highlighting etc.
Then from the Actions menu, select Save Report. Then select As Default Report Settings from the Save select box.
This option is only available if you are logged into the builder at the same time.
