I have the following form:
<form action="{{ route('admin.blocks.store', [$page->id]) }}" method="post">
<fieldset>
<div>
<input id="block--page-id" name="page_id" type="text" disabled value="{{ $page->id }}">
<lable for="block--page-id">Page ID</lable>
</div>
<div>
<input id="block--name" name="name" type="text">
<label for="block--name">Name</label>
</div>
<div>
<input id="block--description" name="description" type="text">
<label for="block--description">Description</label>
</div>
<div>
<input id="block--key" name="key" type="text">
<label for="block--key">Key</label>
</div>
<div>
<textarea id="block--value" name="value">
</textarea>
<label for="block--value">Value</label>
</div>
<div>
<button type="submit">Create</button>
</div>
{{ csrf_field()}}
</fieldset>
With the following controller:
public function blocksStore(Request $request, $pageId)
{
$block = new PageBlock();
$block->page_id = $request->input('page_id');
$block->name = $request->input('name');
$block->description = $request->input('description');
$block->key = $request->input('key');
$block->value = $request->input('value');
$block->save();
return redirect('admin.pages.edit', [$pageId]);
}
However, my input for page_id doesn't get passed into the request. All the other inputs work fine so I'm unsure of what else could be wrong.
Because the element is disabled, it will not be submitted. So, change it to type="hidden":
<input id="block--page-id" name="page_id" type="hidden" value="{{ $page->id }}">
Change your form action to :
<form action="{{ route('admin.blocks.store', ['page_id'=> $page->id]) }}" method="post">
It assumes your route definition is :
Route::post('/your_url/{page_id}', 'SomeController#store')->name('admin.blocks.store');
And in your controller code, you don't need to get $pageId from request as it is already there as a route parameter.
public function blocksStore(Request $request, $pageId)
{
$block = new PageBlock();
$block->page_id = $pageId;
$block->save();
return redirect('admin.pages.edit', [$pageId]);
}

When I attempt to update a record in my Laravel application, it is running the wrong URL causing an error 404. This function was working fine when I was developing locally however now it is hosted on a one.com server, it has stopped working.

return redirect('gins');
}
The URL for the edit page is Laravel/gins/7/edit. When I click the submit button it's returning the URL Laravel/gins/7/gins/7 when it should be redirecting back to Laravel/gins/7.
The 7 in the Url is the record id from the particular record I'm attempting to update.
It's always a bad idea to hardcode urls like that. The following
<form method="POST" action="gins/{{ $gins->id }}">
in a route like laravel/gins/ would evaluate to laravel/gins/gins/7.
Also, routes change all the time in a dynamic web application. For this reason, I'd suggest you to use Named Routes.
For example:
Route::patch('gins/{gin}', 'PostsController#update')
->middleware('auth')
->name('posts.update');
and then change your form action to this:
<form method="POST" action="{{ route('posts.update', ['gin' => $gins->id]) }}">
I would also clean up your update() method a bit.
public function update(Request $request, $id)
{
$gins = \App\Gins::findOrFail($id);
$gins->gin = request('gin');
$gins->size = request('size');
$gins->price = request('price');
$gins->save();
// change this to a named route as well
return redirect('gins');
// or if you just want to return back to the previous page, you can do
// return back();
}
I have this form "Edit tache". Editing one "tache" affects two tables user and technicien, when i choose to edit tache the edit form is autofilled with information from the technicien table but the fields related to the table user are not autofilled. How could i autofill the form with information from the two tables? Thank you.

You are passing too many param and in your route you only take one param!
I think you only need one param in your view which is technician ID and which will find the record in your controller query!
You can try follow code with removing unusable params from form:
<form action="{{ route('technicien.update', $moyenne_avis->id ) }}" method="POST">
And your route looks like:
Route::get('/technicien/{id}/edit', 'TechnicienController#edit');
Route::post('/technicien/{id}', 'TechnicienController#update')->name('technicien.update');
Hope this helps you!
I have a view with an input date field and a table beneath that. The table is populated based on the date entered. When the date is entered I use a POST method on the form which handles the DB request and returns the same view with the data. I'd like to also return the original date that was entered. I tried session()->keep and flashOnly methods. None return the input date to the view.
My controller:
public function groupTestAthletes(Request $request)
{
$inputDate = null;
$tests = null;
if ($request['tgroupdate']){
$inputDate = Carbon::createFromFormat('d/m/Y', $request['tgroupdate']);
$tests = Test::where('test_date', '=', $inputDate->format('Y-m-d'))
->orderBy('athlete_id', 'desc')
->get();
}
$request->session()->keep(['tgroupdate']);
//$request->flashOnly(['tgroupdate']);
return view('npr.test_athletes', ['tests' => $tests]);
My view:
<form class="form-inline" role="form" method="POST" action="{{ route('admin.search_tgroup') }}">
{{ csrf_field() }}
<div class="form-group">
<label for="tgroupdate" class="control-label">Test Date</label>
<div class="input-group date" id="testgroupdatepicker">
<input name="tgroupdate" type="text" style="background-color:#ffffff" readonly=""
value="{{ Session::get('tgroupdate') }}" class="form-control">
<div class="input-group-addon">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-th"></span>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-primary">Search Athletes
</button>
<input type="hidden" name="_token" value="{{ Session::token()}}">
</div>
</form>
You dont need to save the date in session. You can save the date in a variable,send it to the view and in the view you can check if variable exist using isset php function.
In Controller
public function groupTestAthletes(Request $request)
{
$inputDate = null;
$tests = null;
if ($request['tgroupdate']){
$inputDate = Carbon::createFromFormat('d/m/Y', $request['tgroupdate']);
$tests = Test::where('test_date', '=', $inputDate->format('Y- m-d'))
->orderBy('athlete_id', 'desc')
->get();
}
return view('npr.test_athletes', ['tests' => $tests,'selected_date' => $request['tgroupdate']]);
And in the view,
<form class="form-inline" role="form" method="POST" action="{{ route('admin.search_tgroup') }}">
{{ csrf_field() }}
<div class="form-group">
<label for="tgroupdate" class="control-label">Test Date</label>
<div class="input-group date" id="testgroupdatepicker">
<input name="tgroupdate" type="text" style="background-color:#ffffff" readonly=""
value="#if(isset($selected_date)) $selected_date #endif" class="form-control">
<div class="input-group-addon">
<span class="glyphicon glyphicon-th"></span>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-primary">Search Athletes
</button>
<input type="hidden" name="_token" value="{{ Session::token()}}">
</div>
</form>
Edit: This minor change in the view gave the optimal solution.
value="#if(isset($selected_date)){{$selected_date}}#endif"
