Errors using alaouy/Youtube package with Laravel 5.4 for fetching videos from Youtube - laravel

I am using alaouy/Youtube package on Laravel 5.4. It's fetching videos from Youtube but I am getting errors.
// view
#extends('welcome')
#section('content')
<ul>
#foreach($videos as $data)
<div class="well">
{{ $data->id->videoId}}
</div>
#endforeach
</ul>
#endsection
// controller
$videos = Youtube::search($search);
return view('search',compact('videos'));
I am able to get access to all the data in the object except {{$data->id->videoId}}
// Error
Undefined property: stdClass::$videoId (View:
C:\Users\derrick\testyoutubeapi\resources\views\search.blade.php)

You are not receiving the required data so you are getting the error message of not defined property.
in other words, you are requesting videoId field which is not there for some of kinds like playlist (playlistId), or maybe a channel (channelId)
so your problem solution should be just making your code in the view to check if there is a field that is called videoId or no before the query:
#foreach($videos as $data)
#if(isset($data->id->videoId)) // field available?
<div class="well">
{{ $data->id->videoId}}
#endif // end if
</div>
#endforeach

Getting id value from url in controller and displaying values associated laravel

I'm trying to create a ticket management system with laravel jetstream and livewire. In the user page there's a table with all tickets that the user created. When the user clicks on the button to open one specific ticket, it should pass the id of the ticket and redirect to another page where it receives the data of that ticket he clicked, like title, message, etc..
The id is passed through the url, but my main problem is that whenever I try to display that data in the view, nothing shows, no errors either. I think that something might be wrong with my controller.
Here's my route:
Route::get('tickets.answers/{id}', [TicketsController::class, 'answers']);
The button to redirect to that specific ticket:
<a href="{{ url('tickets.answers' . '/'. $ticket->id ) }}" > <x-jet-secondary-button >
See Answer
</x-jet-secondary-button></a>
AnswersController:
public function render(Request $request)
{
$tickets = Ticket::where('id', $request->url('id'));
return view('livewire.tickets.answers', [
'tickets' => $tickets,
]);
}
And how I'm trying to display in my blade:
#foreach($tickets as $key => $ticket)
<!-- This example requires Tailwind CSS v2.0+ -->
<div class="bg-white shadow overflow-hidden sm:rounded-lg">
<div class="px-4 py-5 sm:px-6">
<h3 class="text-lg leading-6 font-medium text-gray-900">
Ticket nº {{$ticket->id}} - {{$ticket->title}}
</h3>
</div>
</div>
#endforeach
In your TicketsController you can fetch the id like this
public function answer(Request $request, int $id)
{
// Use the find() method, instead of where(), when searching for the primary key
$tickets = Ticket::find($id);
// .. more
}
In your routes files you specify an answer method, so use this in your TicketsController.
// See how to name a route
Route::get('tickets.answers/{id}', [TicketsController::class, 'answers'])->name('tickets.answers');
Then use the named route in your view like this:
<a href="{{ route('tickets.answers', ['id' => $ticket->id]) }}">
You can see a similar example in the Laravel docs.

Pagination is not showing

I'm trying to get pagination into my view. I don't know where is the problem, the code doesn't show any errors.
Here is my controller function
public function apakskategorijas($id)
{
$apakskat = apakskategorijas::with('prece')->where('id',$id)->paginate(2);
return view ('kategorijas.apakskategorijas',compact('apakskat'));
}
View
#section('content')
#foreach($apakskat as $apk)
#foreach($apk->prece as $prec)
<div class="col-md-4 kat">
<a href="{{ url('kategorija/apakskategorija/preces/'.$prec->id) }}">
<div>
<img src="{{ URL::to($prec->path) }}">
</div>
<div class="nos">
<p>{{$prec->nosaukums}}</p>
</div></a>
<div class="price-box-new discount">
<div class="label">Cena</div>
<div class="price">{{ $prec->cena }} €</div>
</div>
<div><span>Ielikt grozā</span></div>
</div>
#endforeach
#endforeach
<center>{{$apakskat->links()}}</center> <--pagination
#endsection
dd($apakskat)
UPDATE
when i changed code in my controller to $apakskat = apakskategorijas::paginate(1); then it showed me pagination, but this doesn't work for me since i need to display items in each subcategory, with this code it just displays every item i have,it doesn't filter which subcategory is selected.
This is why i need this $apakskat = apakskategorijas::with('prece')->where('id',$id)->paginate(1); with is a function that i call which creates a relation between tables, so that it would display every item with its related subcategory.
That's the behavior of paginator in current Laravel version. When you have just one page, pagination links are not displayed.
To test this, just change the code to something like this to get more pages:
$apakskat = apakskategorijas::paginate(1);
If you want to show the first page if there is only one page, you need to customize pagination views. Just publish pagination views and remove this #if/#endif pair from the default.blade.php but keep the rest of the code as is:
#if ($paginator->hasPages())
....
#endif

Is it possible to delete record without using forms in laravel 5.4

I want to delete a record but I haven't been successful, apparently my code is wrong. Solutions i came across say i have to use a post in my form method and add the method_field helper. This would mean my view having a form in it, i want to avoid this if possible. Is it then possible to do my delete another way. Below is my code
snippet of my view
<div class="backbtn">
<a class="btn btn-savvy-delete" href="/tasks/{{$task->id}}" data-toggle="tooltip" title="Delete"><i class="fa fa-trash-o" aria-hidden="true"> Delete</i></a>
</div>
<div class="panel-body">
<p><strong>Owner:</strong> {{ ucfirst($task->employee->firstname) }} {{" "}} {{ ucfirst($task->employee->lastname) }}</p>
<p><strong>Task:</strong> {{ $task->title }}</p>
<p><strong>Description:</strong> {{ $task->description }}</p>
</div>
TaskController
public function destroy($id)
{
Task::destroy($id);
Session::flash('status', "Task was successfully deleted.");
return redirect('/tasks');
}
web.php
Route::delete('/tasks/{id}', 'TaskController#delete');
Im not sure what error you are getting, but i can point out a few things. For one use Route::get instead of ::delete, you are calling it via a link not a form method.
Secondly to delete follow what the laravel doc says here eg.
$task = App\Task::find(1);
$task->delete();

laravel 5.4 undefined variable in view

I'm kind of new to laravel and trying to pull data from a database but keep hitting an error page saying there's an undefined variable within the view.
I'm supposing there's something I'm doing wrong (or not doing) within the controller. So I have a create.blade.php that posts data from a form to the database and everything works fine, however I want it such that after posting to the database to redirect to the show.blade.php showing the uploaded data and here is where I hit a brick wall with the error messages.
This is my store function within the controller -
public function store(Request $request)
{
$data4page = new Data4page;
$data4page->h1Ttle = $request->h1Ttle;
$data4page->h4Ttle = $request->h4Ttle;
$data4page->description = $request->description;
$data4page->save();
/*redirecting to the content's show page*/
return redirect()->route('content.show', $data4page->id);
}
And this is the show function within the same controller -
public function show($id)
{
//
$data4page = Data4page::find($id);
return view('digital.show')->with(compact('data4page'));
}
The error message I'm getting is -
Undefined variable: data4page (View: /var/www/html/theproject/resources/views/content/show.blade.php)
And in the show.blade.php this is a sample of what I have -
<h1>{{ $data4page->h4Ttle }}</h1>
<p>{{ $data4page->description }}</p>
<h4>{{ $data4page->h4Ttle }}</h4>
Having said all that, I have also tried various means of returning the view within the show function of the controller but all these result in the same error message above. These variants include -
return view('content.show')->with('data4page', $data4page);
return view('content.show',['data4page'=>$data4page]);
Update: I earlier had typos but now the error I get is -
undefined variable: {"id":9,"h1Ttle":"h1 sample text","h4Ttle":"h4 sample text","description":"body text goes here"} (View: /var/www/html/theproject/resources/views/content/show.blade.‌‌php)
This is the show.blade.php -
#extends('main')
#section('title')
#section('content')
<div class="app-template">
<main class="wrapperMain">
<div class="">
<aside class="navSidebar">
<nav class="navProperty">
<h1 class="navProperty-title">{{ $data4page->h1Ttle }}</h1>
</nav>
<footer class="footerProperty">
<div class="upcomingSchedule">
<h4 class="upcomingSchedule-heading">{{ $data4page->h4Ttle }}</h4>
</div>
</footer>
</aside>
</div>
<div class="content content--withSidebar">
<div class="lead--Home">
<p>{{ $data4page->description }}</p>
</div>
</div>
</main>
#endsection
You have a name mismatch.
return view('content.show')->with(['name' => $data4page]);
Here you should use:
<h1>{{ $name->h4Ttle }}</h1>
As you called it name
In your other options you defined Data4page and in your view you use data4page (lower case d).
Changed this
return view('content.show')->with(['name' => $data4page]);
To:-
return view('content.show')->with(compact('data4page'));
Hope it hepls!
Why have you resorted to typing the variable name with the wrong case when the answers given below are absolutely fine? PHP variables are case sensitive. You're passing $Data4page to your view in the code you've shown and then trying to use the access $data4page. Any of the below will work.
return view('content.show', ['data4page' => $data4page]);
return view('content.show', compact('data4page'));
return view('content.show')->with('data4page', $data4page);
return view('content.show')->with(['data4page' => $data4page]);
return view('content.show')->with(compact('data4page'));
You need to loop through the collection to get the value
#section('content')
<div class="app-template">
<main class="wrapperMain">
#foreach ($data4page as $d4p)
<div class="">
<aside class="navSidebar">
<nav class="navProperty">
<h1 class="navProperty-title">{{ $d4p->h1Ttle }}</h1>
</nav>
<footer class="footerProperty">
<div class="upcomingSchedule">
<h4 class="upcomingSchedule-heading">{{ $d4p->h4Ttle }}</h4>
</div>
</footer>
</aside>
</div>
<div class="content content--withSidebar">
<div class="lead--Home">
<p>{{ $d4p->description }}</p>
</div>
</div>
#endforeach
</main>
#endsection

The render() method to build the paginator view has been renamed to links() on Laravel 5.2.
